  1. I hear you @oryxwild but i took him anyway! Best game i had was turf war where i took Toshiro, Yin and Izamu plus a hanged. Framed for murder on Toshiro got him killed early for full Vp then raised him back up.

Thanks for some great advice @phototropic. Worst game was against Wong where i learned not to take Yan Lo. Some really fun tricks and no masses of summoning like Nico. I think I will play Yan Lo for a while to really learn him then i might expand my Resser masters knowledge.

  2. Ok I played in a one day tourney today it was mt first one having been playing Malifaux now for about 5 weeks. I went ok in the first two games narrowly losing 8-7 in the first and winning 10-8 in the second. Now in the third i was coming 4th overall and got matched up with one the undefeated players. Long story short I got reamed 7-0 by Wong. I wont go into my crew choice because it was totally inappropriate for Wong due to my inexperience, suffice to say i was paper to his scissors.

The strat was reckoning. Schemes I dont remember but i think i took neutralise leader and mark territory or something. Looking as the resser toolbox and masters who should i have taken and with what models?

  3. Now i know game to game its scheme and strat and opponent dependant but im look for some advice for my first Malifaux tournament tomorrow.

I have only been playing for a about 6 weeks now and i have managed ot collect and paint about 70 % of the ressers models. I have been playing Nicodem exclusively but i think for my first tourney I would prefer to go with a master that is not as complicated in terms of time management so i can get through my rounds.

Should i use Yan Lo tomorrow and pretty much play with a set core and  only swapping out various scheme runners? What should my core be? How many of the ancestors should i take?. Any advice overall? Excited and nervous about this one!

  4.  I too am blundering along with Nico so its great to get anothers ideas. Great report. I'm finding the Nico learning curve is steep but fun. I got smashed last night by a Sonnia crew with papa in a box. First time Nico has gone down! But I learned some lessons.
My biggest difficulty is what to take in my list and then what to summon when. I find I am summoning punk zombies all the time because I love them but I am wondering if there is a better use of my resources. I am going to buy the Transmortis box today and see if I cant get some use out of them. What do you find you summon the most?

  5. So I am starting a campaign and its 35ss to start with henchman only and only 1 upgrade. Eventually wanting to get to Nicodem I thought this might be a good little list to start

    Toshiro- command the graves

Graveyard spirit (buff Toshiro with armour)

Shikome ( scheme running and adversary missile)

2 punk zombies ( first wave of attacks)

canine remains (scheme running and finding bones for Toshiro to raise as ashigaru)

Feels like Nico lite. Any thoughts or recommendations for changes?

  6. So bought the Perdita box, Abuela and a box of Austringers. So my 50ss crew for now is soemthing likes this

    Perdita with Trick shooting

    Enslaved Nephilim

    Francisco with wade in

    Abuela

    Santiago

    Papa Loco

    2 Austingers

Which out of Abuela and Santiago would be the better choice for Hair trigger?

What do you suggest as my next purchase?

  7. Greetings,

I am pretty much brand new to the game having taken up the cudgels less than three weeks ago. Thought I would write a semi regular bloggy type entry.  I have played 3 games now with Nicodem and I find I am falling into thinking that all I have to do is summon with Nic. As a newbie I take longer to play as it is and with summoning galore it takes even longer and I'm not sure it even helps with my game. Looking at Nicodem he is also a very good buffer is he not? I raised a punk zombie last night used patchwork to heal him up and then gave him fast  then if I had of taken  I love my master I could have activated him charged and enemy and chopped it up into bits.

This got me thinking. Maybe use maniacal laugh to start, Mindless zombies for AP and getting extra cards for Undertaker. Then concentrate on what needs to be done in this particular turn. I know this is nothing new and not some sort of epiphany but its just me processing and sharing :)

I know we shouldn't pre plan lists but for a newbie its handy to do so I can concentrate on the game, later I can think maybe x would have been better than y and tae that into consideration next time. So here is the list I plan on taking next time

Nic-undertaker, maniacal laugh and I love my master ( I didn't take this one last night and wished I had)

    Mortimer- corpse bloat

    Vulture

    Killjoy with Decaying aura

    2 rotten belles

    crooligan

Crooligan is to set up downfield to run schemes or if he dies release the fat man. Belles for lure and pounce ( I plan to raise at least another one). I really like vulture and have grabbed corpse markers from downfield a few times so far for Nico to use.

I am mainly going to concentrate on raising punk zombies and belles for now, make my games easier for me to get through a turn faster. Laugh up mindless zombies first of course.

I actually charged something with Mortimer last night and found that he can crack heads with his shovel, so instead of purely using him as a corpse marker factory I should think about his uses as well.

A cool little trick I have been thinking about is for Mortimer to fling rot at someone (gives them poison) then raising a shikome with Nic and pointing her at the poisoned model. She adversary's it then charges for 1 ap (ability) and gets 3 shots at it with her bonuses fro poison and adversary.

I am loving this game so much. It seems to me to balance the models and cards parts so well. As an old WHFB player the dice always hated me, I could find a 1 on a dice only marked with 6s. The cards are more forgiving, have memory (using a term from my teacher vocab in probability) and I can cheat higher cards when needed as well. I just wish I had got into this game a lot earlier now im making up for lost time!

    Cheers

Morguey (Morgy) see what I did there?

  8. Greetings I am only new to the game and have so far only played small 15 -20 points games but next weekend I am going to play against a few guys at a mates place and I am bumping up to 35ss.

I have managed to get a nice painted old Seamus model with Sybelle, CCK and 2 belles. I have bought the boxes for Canine Remains, Dead Doxies, Nurses and Izamu.

I am looking for a good solid 35ss build using these models. I thought maybe something like this

Seamus with redchapel killer, mad harberdasher and sinister rep.

    Sybelle with bleeding tongue.

    Copy cat Killer

    2 canine remains

    Nurse

    Rotten Belle

I plan to raise the other belle and doxies from the corpse markers the canines leave behind

  9. I have only played a few games of henchman size but i have jumped int eh deep end and will be attending a tournament at the end of the month. I bought the Marcus box and a Blessed of December plus a box of raptors. I am looking for suggestions on refining the list. I wont be adding any models yet as i want to learn the game as best i can with what I have to start with. I expect to get smashed but I would like to have a chance some of the time. I am looking for suggestions on upgrades etc to get it up to 50ss. Is the Jackalope worth taking?
