  1. As I generally suck at HH last time we did this I just did a fun list and went with Francisco, Abuela, Santiago & a Pistolero.  Now I did do quite well with this list and stole second place, but I feel it was more luck of the cards over having any list building skills.

  2. Our gaming group is all set to begin a Shifting Loyalties campaign at the end of February and I thought instead of just transferring my master onto a 50mm base it would look fare better to have an actual Avatar model.

Over hear in the UK they are a little hard to come by and those that do pop up on ebay etc I am just not willing to pay the price people are asking.

So being tight fisted as I am it is time to set to and make one for myself, picked up one of the old metal Sonnia models at a reasonable price and raided the shops sprue boxes for anything with flames on.

This is my progress so far, any hint or tips are more than welcome.

    Hello,

I have decided that I will try this game out. I am not new to miniature gaming by any means, but I am looking for advice of what my first purchase should be. I am interested in playing Perdita as the Latigo Family starter has a really nice theme but after reading a lot of stuff on what is the best way to start, I am at a crux. Should I just get the Ortega family (Latigo box, Abuela, Pistolero, Executioner and Austringers) or should I go with two starters (Latigo box and Lady J box)?

To add more to this question, In this game, is it better to stick with a themed force and expand into the broader options or is it better to start with two box and then go into the themed forces?

Welcome to Malifaux and the Guild.

I would always go with the rule of cool when starting a new game system, so if it is the ascetics of The Latigo Posse box that has drawn you in then that is most defiantly were you should start.  Until you have got to grips with the game.

You do get some great models in that box and even when you expand your guild out you will still find yourself pulling models from this box in for your games regardless of future Masters.

My plan was to use him where he was needed and he fills many roles.

    - Giving fast and sabre to my crew and giving them + to WP and Mi.

    - Preventing my opponents henchmen and master from getting points. (By killing them if possible)

    - Rushing to score strategy.

By the way I lost the game 3-6. But we only got to the third round before we had to quit. If the game had continued I guess I would have scored 5 more. My opponent could also score 3 more quite easily. So for  the last to points I think my opponent would have the edge, so I guess it was fair to give him the win.

Interested to know what master you faced in the end ;)

  5. You are making “Punish the weak” easy but with “Take One for the Team” in the pool you have a good chance they will not take it and relay on killing your minions with conditions etc.

“Undercover Entourage” seems like a good fit as you will need to race over to the other side of the table anyway.  So I would recommend a beater paired with some healing and some no charging shenanigans going off for the advance party.

For your defence I would recommend some controlling models that can push models away, paralyzed or dish out slow backed up with something scary to keep them on their toes.

  6. As already mentioned above, you have a great starting line-up and Nellie’s box would be a good next step for cheap activations and Phiona is a nice beat stick that can drop lots of markers.

If you can talk someone into splitting the starter box with you, the Orderly’s are nice to have on hand and you get Grimwell & Heartsbane that can be fun.

Currently Allison Dade is my go to girl with a Thalarin Queller and well worth looking into after you have got the lay of the land with your current set of models.

  7. Never had much trouble summoning with Sonnia, Handler pops up “Burn Them, Burn Them All” then send burning Raptor shots from an Austringer.  Remembering that Stalkers also have Searing Mark and Hopkins can take Witch Hunt if you still think you do not have enough burning going on.

Never had an issue with taking Handlers at 8ss, always been worth every soulstone in my games but now at 7ss I am going to have a little more leeway.

In final GG2018 rules powerful non-henchmen models like Coryphee Duet don't give bonuses for killing your poor sucker as their cost is Zero for this Scheme. So getting Guild Hound killed by puny Manequin gives more points then getting it killed by scary Coryphee Duet. Which is not logical I think.

Considering that most people are going to be looking at ways to kill your potential Sucker models with conditions etc so you will not score any points, it may well still be worth running the risk of making a slightly more threatening model with a slightly higher SS cost the Sucker so a big bad beatstick comes to nail them before they do too much damage.

I like the change to this scheme as it requires a little more planning to pull off.

  9. Finished building and painting mine just before Christmas, surprisingly easy to build and assembled nicely with barely any gaps between the parts during assembly.  Not much on the mould line also.

I just have to find time to get it onto the table and have a few games.

  10. I have not played Nellie very much but I do not see the extra SS being much of an issue on the key mercenaries, as they are now a little less lightly to be turning up in other factions.

But only time will tell and it should be an interesting next couple of months.
