I've been pondering things, and while I'm not convinced yet (will need to put models on the table) I do think a pair of Bandidos might be interesting for DMW.

The theory being, while you can Drop It! A marker to avoid DMW's aura, you generally can't drop a marker in a position to block LoS to two separate models with a 30mm.

Which means, with adequate LoD coverage your opponent now risks a Bandido shot on nearly every drop it effect you make, if they want to avoid Perdition.  And even then, two bandidos means if one can't see the marker, the other probably can.

Doesn't solve the 'they die like 5 wd models' and I'm not sure than giving them H2K with the upgrade is a great idea, though letting them convert Pearls free marker into a Soulstone does drop them to effectively 6 ss.

If Trigger Finger applied more than once per turn, or if you could resolve more than one instance off each drop, and Drop It was more reliable it might be a good source of damage, as it is you suffer the low stat shot over the guaranteed 1 Perdition damage pretty comfortably.

  2. A Thought I had about the Killjoy issue:
What about reworking the Ritual Upgrade so that the model gains a special attack that if that attack kills a model (friendly or enemy) it replaces the target model into Killjoy, then possibly restricting the upgrade so that it can only be carried by minions or enforcers depending on what the attack ends up being.

It takes away the "tax" on Killjoy and still encourages your opponent to kill Ritual holders, makes taking Killjoy a benefit to your crew rather than just a drain, and can be fine tuned with Range, Stat, damage track, and required suits if need be.

shenlong dragon doesn't come out in a burst of viscera though. He's a spirit leech that only survives because he is attached to shenlong like most of the other tyrants.  He comes out in one of the stories and it's just like a bright light : /

The new fiction has a section where Shenlong describes his body being rebuilt from when the Dragon shattered him to try and steal the the Governor's ascension and get its own physical form. Then when everything went sideways the Dragon rebuilt him, because it needed a vessel again after wasting too much power in the attempt.

I accept that the Viks are also going to want the same resources Taelor wants, so she can't always reach her "full potential" in her keyword crew.

I think this is the crux of the matter. Yes, Puncture is good at controlling damage and getting to the 6 damage hits. Yes, Crit Strike is more efficient for 4-5 damage. The crew she is in doesn't have the card resources to support Puncture without suffering in other areas, so while Puncture is good, is it good For Taelor as things stand?

The knowledge if you hold a severe in hand that you can do 6 damage is better than+1 at times.

Counterpoint Crit Strike means even a weak is 4, or 5 with a stone, it's more efficient to use that high card to hit, and deal more damage no matter what than use it to cheat damage. There may be fringe cases where the plus flip is better because you're going to resource dump, but most of the time the more efficient trigger will be better.

  6. They originally existed as scheme runners that could hunt down enemy scheme runners/markers. I think they lost that identity not for lack of rules but a shift in the emphasis of the game. Cheap fragile scheme runners are kind of out, and that was what Bultungin were made to hunt. So they probably need a deeper rework, maybe with a cut in base movement, they could get an ability that lets them pull each other along (maybe make it based on having an enemy marker or model nearby at the end of a move?) and then that along with some defensive movement tech, really lean into the mobility/hunting aspect.

I've actually used Taelor a couple of time recently and played against her once and I am coming to the conclusion she doesn't really need anything. With the new Viks, which is where I've used her a few time recently, the Student giving her fast and Taelor companioning off of her with the Emissary trinket has been very effective. At a tournament last weekend she took out a model in round 2 and round 3 with that maneuver. Coupled with the new Viks you have a combined force that can pretty quickly be overwhelming.

Playing against her my opponent had SoDP on her and she came in first activation of turn 1 to take out Santiago.

That sounds like she's doing the job of a 10ss Hench, at what? 25 stones? I know the Emissary is good to have either way, but to have to support her so much to get reasonable performance out of her feels bad. She needs a little more independence from the crew, or alternatively a little more mechanical synergy, to give her a reason to support her instead of just grabbing another OOK model and giving it the same support.

  8. Between the theme, and some lingering NPE resentment from 1/2e, and the fact that Plague is written as a jerk, he's hard for people to like. Though I'm a particular fan of him.

The original Hamelin was devoured by Plague's vermin when he fell into the prison beneath the sewers. Hamelin's body is just a shape that Plague takes, formed of vermin, because it's "easy," he has changed the face over the years though.

Plague first tried to rebuild Nix as a vessel before Hamelin fell, but Nix's spirit was too loyal to Hamelin, which is why he still follows Plague despite Plague having no direct control of Nix.

None of the Tyrants like each other but there's particular resentment toward Plague because he tends towards plans that "steal" from other Tyrants rather than building himself, Siphoning off the Red Cage, weakening opponent's followers, stuff like that.

OG plague was an alchemist, but that term gets weird in Old Malifaux, just because of the godlike powers available then.

but your able to get multiple uses out of one if you summon daydreams/alps via an action on back of dreamer's card?

Correct, you can summon 3 alps off one Lucid using his back of card action. It's only Dreams of Pain's action that removes Lucid

  10. No, there are still two instances of damage. Ryle will take 1 damage twice.

What this reduces is Alison pops Debt, does a damage flip+1 and also 2+1 damage on the trigger. Now she does damage flip+1 and 2 damage on the trigger.

  11. @Ludvig with more schemes removing the markers more regularly primordial has been more for Rush for me rather than its marker utility, and I find myself being "stingy" with it, where before I was more inclined to be bolder with it. Scribe strikes me as more suited to Lucius' new midfield role, being near to the fray.
