    There's also Eiryss, who went from Merc Solo to Ret UA.  But there are extremely few examples overall, yeah.

    As an Arcanist player, I would very much enjoy getting a dual faction Arc/NB or Arc/Resser master, if only to have a reason to buy into those factions with what I have.  With the Neverborn they theoretically wouldn't have to hide themselves as much as Lucius, just make it clear that they want the Guild dealt with.  I'd be willing to bet Ramos would make deals with devils for more power.

    My second question is about triggers. How many times can you trigger the same trigger/repeat an attack? This was just and easy example Ive noticed this same sort thing on other cards guild, outcast etc and wanted a second opinion.

    1) As far as I've always understood it, the blasts all do the same damage - one less level of damage than the single target's damage.  So for SnowStorm severe, single target takes 3 and everything under the blasts take 2.

    2) Yes.  If something doesn't have a "you can't declare more triggers" caveat then you can keep declaring triggers.  I've driven one friend in particular into a Rail Golem hatred after I got 6 Locomotions off with some very good luck with 4+ Tomes.

Hey all, so I've recently picked up Angelica and I'm feeling pretty excited about her with Practiced Production!  I'm specifically thinking in a Ramos crew (though also Colette obviously), as she can be throwing scheme markers through the front lines with Practiced Production and let the beaters do their thing without spending their AP on schemes.  Plus that Encore! ability for some extra movement sounds pretty nice.  Does anyone here have experience with Angelica, especially with Ramos?

    I really love this sculpt, it just has so much character to it!  Having the three different bodies all doing such radically different things is brilliant.

Hey all, so with the recent poll for a new official fate deck I was curious what do players like to see in their fate decks?  There seemed to be a pretty decent sized split between people who wanted a more simplistic deck and those who wanted new cool visuals or having characters from the game on the cards.  So, when you're thinking of Your Favourite Deck (whether you have it or it's just something you'd like to see), what comes to mind?

    For me personally, I love the stained glass artwork style in the Revelations Tarot deck (pic here), the art style is great and something I've never seen in another deck.  Plus every single card has its own unique art, so every card is individually nice to look at.  Cons there are that every card looking different means you have to pay extra attention to see what number and suit it actually is.  Plus the cards are longer which makes them trickier to shuffle and of course they're not using the Ram/Crow/Tome/Mask suits so I have to keep a bit of a cheat sheet to remember which suit is which in game.  But if there was a normal sized card deck with that nice stained glass look I'd be all over it!  How about you folks?

I hadn't thought about Colette and Ironsides, I'm glad to hear there's some synergy there too!  Summoning a Fire or Ice Gamin with the Mech Rider expecting it to die, and telling it to Tread The Line sounds like a nice combo.  Get an extra activation from the model and if it dies it does 2 damage (or 1 and Burning) and drops a Scheme Marker anyway.

Hey all, so after discovering Sue and having my inner Johnny Cash fan fall in love, I'm absolutely planning on picking up the new model when it comes out.  Is the Man In Black any good in Arcanists?  He sounds like his Ring of Fire could work nicely in a Kaeris crew but I'm not sure when else bringing his pistols is better than an Acolyte slowing and burning enemy cards.

That model is gorgeous!  Very nice mix of beast and machine.  Hopefully it comes out soon :)  Going to agree with Tawg, the long blades are much longer than I expected and I'm hoping they'll be easily posable to be a bit more inwards on the model (looks like it's already going to take a fair bit of horizontal space in the pluck foam).

  9. Hey all, so as an update to this the tournament has finished and went stunningly well in general. We had a whopping 16 players show up (we expected maybe 10) and nearly ran out of tables making space for everyone. I ended up going 2-1 with a total point differential of 0 (+1 game one, +1 game two, -2 game three) which as someone still new to this I'm very happy with. Seeing as there was a very large number of newer players, many of whom didn't have a full 50ss painted yet the painted models restriction was dropped which thankfully helped my lists out quite a bit.

    Game one was Reconnoiter, with Ramos vs Pandora. Howard as usual was MVP, killing his totem and a Sorrow, removing two of his LitS scheme markers, and putting down a Protect Territory scheme marker where no enemies could stop him from scoring. Game ended on turn 3 (we were both playing slow as we were both new) with a 7-6 victory Ramos (I picked Protect Territory (3 pts) / Make Them Suffer (1 pt), he picked LitS / Protect Territory).

    Game two was Turf War and humorously turned out to be Ironsides vs Ironsides with about 15ss different in our lists. Game went to end of turn 5 and was extremely close but my December Acolyte and Nemesis Oxfordian Mage Slowing the enemy Captain and Johan followed by my Captain Airbursting both away from the center marker put my opponent a point down, with my Ironsides winning 8-7. My opponent had taken Frame For Murder on Willie and tried to keep my Master low but alive until Willie died, but I wasn't willing to trade Ironsides out with the Willie explosion and just ended up killing everything else instead, so that backfired. The strats taken here were Protect Territory (3 pts) / Distract (only 1 pt) for me, and Protect Territory (2 pts) / Frame For Murder (2 pts).

    Game three was Reckoning, with two small crews led by Mei Feng and Kirai fighting. I ended up being quite outactivated all 5 turns (I thought a small crew would be good but it just meant my opponent was able to outmaneuver me a bunch) and tabled on the last, but I did some good damage along the way and succeeded in both my schemes (Breakthrough 3 pts / Deliver The Message 2 pts) but wasn't enough, losing 9-7 to my opponent (who took LitS 3 pts / Breakthrough 3 pts).

    All in all a fun tournament and a very happy surprise to see such a turnout! I hope you all enjoyed the quick rundown, and hopefully next time I can win all 3!

Hey all, I'm planning on making a consolidated list of all the abilities Cassandra can copy with her Understudy action and I was thinking of putting it onto the forums when I get it all together. However I don't want to put details on the forum that Wyrd would rather not have, so how much info on the abilities is alright? Specifically I thought any damage spreads, TN's, and similar specific numbers would be worth asking about. Should I keep it vague or just describe the abilities in full?

  11. Thanks for all the replies, seems like the general consensus is that Ramos is probably a bad idea with those specific models and Rasputina is a *maybe* here too. Just as an update I have a second December Acolyte painted up now (but I don't have any baking soda to give it my snowy train track base I've been doing for Frozen Heart models so hopefully having her lay on the base is OK), does that extra 7ss of good Frozen Heart make her a bit more viable here?

  12. Hey all, I have a small tournament going on at my LGS on Jan 10 and I'm wanting to get some games going! Trouble is, it's a painted models only restriction and only about 1/3 of my models are painted right now (and I just moved houses so painting between now and then will be very limited). Do you all think some decent 50ss lists can be made out of the following stuff? (I'm only listing what I have painted)

    Masters: Ramos, Rasputina, Mei Feng

    Totems: Brass Arachnid, Wendigo, Emberling

    Henchmen: Joss, Kang

    Enforcers: Rail Golem, Ice Golem

    Minions: Arcane Effigy, 3x Ice Gamin, 2x Metal Gamin, 3x Steam Arachnids, 3x Rail Workers, 1x December Acolyte, 1x Steam Arachnid Swarm

    Not having Howard painted feels like it hurts, but basically my general Mei Feng list is all painted so it's Ramos and Rasputina I'm especially concerned about.

     

  13. That's a good point, the list was Ironsides and Joss (both with Warding Runes), with Captain and 3 Oxfordian Mages mostly hiding in the back so it took a lot of effort (and put Kaeris and Firestarter in danger) to set anything on Fire that game.

    From what I've read up I definitely plan on swapping Eternal Flame for Malifaux Child (EF hasn't done much of anything in any game I've played with it) but I don't have the model yet sadly.  Does the rest of the list look okay?

    I ended up playing a game last night and yeah after that I agree with you.  Turn one it was nice (Protect Territory was one of the schemes so it let Firestarter get to work on that early too) but turn two I wanted my Rail Golem to start hitting things so he kept his Burning for himself.

    As far as my list goes, I don't think I like the Oxfordian Mages with Kaeris.  They were always in the list as Gunsmiths-aren't-out-yet filler, but I think next game I'll swap them for December Acolytes (the only other elite ranged minions I have).  The game was against Ironsides so there was a ton of Counterspell which probably biases it (can't burn or slow her with the enemy Oxford Mages alive so I ended up just pushing her around a bit), but I wasn't feeling like range 10 was much help with the rest of the army dedicated to melee.  I'm thinking something more like:

    Kaeris (Arcane Reservoir, Blinding Flame, Grab and Drop)

    Eternal Flame

    Firestarter (Imbued Energies)

    Rail Golem

    2x December Acolytes

    2x Rail Workers

    Think that would be a bit better?  My game was against Ironsides so I struggled to set much of anything on fire for most of it, but I feel in most other situations I should be able to get that synergy going much better.

  15. I haven't seen this mentioned much at all but does anyone recommend using the (0) Truth In Flame much? I was thinking it'd be very easy to use turns 1 and 2 with the Rail Golem using (0) Vent Boiler before Kaeris activates for a stronger hand, has anyone tried this?

     

    I'm thinking specifically of trying it in a crew like:

    Kaeris (Arcane Reservoir, Blinding Flame, G&D)

    Eternal Flame

    Firestarter (Imbued Energies)

    Rail Golem

    2x Gunsmiths

    2x Rail Workers

    Seems like a decent mix of defense and offense, with a bit of ranged in there too.

  16. This is a fantastic idea, having errata-updated cards for sale makes my life easier - no more having to try and remember what changed in the Metal Gamin!

    Quick question, do you plan to mark the errata cards?  Having something in the corner of the cards like "Errata 201X-XX" would help stop any confusion about errata and non-errata cards.

  17. I've enjoyed him with Ironsides (push her into a pile of enemies or make a pile to push her into) and Rasputina (since her crew feels so slow without Snowstorm).

     

    But I actually had no idea he had an upgrade card at all, it didn't come in my Troubleshooters box.  Where do I find his upgrade?

Exactly what Dirial said.  Coming from Warmachine (and seeing a lot of the same in this regard in Malifaux) you need to be able to measure exactly from any line between bases for abilities and movement.  If you're using cornered bases then there are going to be spots on the table where you can have three models and even though center-to-center two of the models are exactly the same distance away as the third their base edges may not be and that's kind of not okay.

Hey all, I recently picked up the Kaeris box and was wanting to get them painted up and based but I have a small problem - while I found a nice tutorial for painting flames on models I haven't been able to find one for bases.  All my crews have a dark brown gravel with rails and wood beams for their bases and that's generally what I was hoping to do for the Kaeris box set as well but with some burning effect to show the burning models (like Fire Gamin) walking along the rails.  Does anyone have any recommendations on things to do or places to look?

So I picked up Ironsides yesterday and was thinking of things to bring with her.  She has Mouse for heals and her own heals as needed so I figured Johan would be a bit redundant but conditions can still be a pain.  Would people consider bringing the Arcane Effigy with her?  Fire fists and condition removal sounds pretty nice.
