  1. Lol I actually took Envy+IE and died 5 of the 6 rounds, ended up being the cheapest model on the board so bonus points for kills and first wounds and my initiative rolls were super low which ended up being a good thing as every time I was engaged I'd get killed and I could place out of combat again with 8 cards instead of 4 haha, even with my 5 deaths I had a score of +5 coming in at a rank of 5th out of 8 (the winner had an Ice Golem with Imbued Protection that only ended up dying once with a score of +11).

  2. I'm actually quite excited at the idea of the Arcanists bringing the Valedictorian and Students along, that's a nice bit of additional list help there!  I could see them giving another Ca on some of his Upgrades as well (I'm assuming his summoning action is a Ca), the restriction on Beacon of it only being spells from his stat card gives some balance flexibility there.  Basic spells can be handed out, special spells get put on Upgrades.

Plus, his Henchman Kudra we've only heard has "arcane skill and physical prowess," I'd very much like to see what she brings to the table.

Edit: He's actually another option in Headhunter too now that I think of it - a model spends its AP killing a model and walking B2B with the Head marker.  It then uses Sandeep's (0) As Your Deed, So Your Destiny, Interacting to pick the head up (just needing to flip/cheat a 5), and with a Tome you can even pick the Head up while engaged!

  3. We still don't know the exact details of his upgrades, but we now have front and back of Sandeep's card here!  Thoughts?

I'm interested in the idea of a second summoning master, being able to take someone other than Ramos into Interference without feeling like I'm playing wrong sounds good to me!  I'm very interested in seeing what the different benefits and drawbacks given by the two Limited upgrades will be as well.  I'm hoping he'll be able to summon more than just the Poison Gamin, having two masters with very specific summons would be a bit of a shame.

I'm a bit surprised at how few Ca actions he actually has as well - two Ca Attacks, and two Ca Tacticals (the latter both being (0)'s, which is nice for Minions without a (0) though).  Right off the bat I'm seeing a possible nice use of Student Of All letting Sandeep use Mind Among The Senses to pull a friendly model back to safety after going forward and wrecking some face.

All in all I'm intrigued, it's not the playstyle I was quite expecting but I'm seeing a ton of different options Sandeep gives to his army already and I'm very excited to see the rest of the box and how it all comes together :D

  4. Envy and Lust are the standout winners for sure :D Both of them are really great!  Lust and Captain in an Ironsides list can move Ironsides 9" before she activates in a turn, which isn't too bad.  I've also fiddled around with Sloth in a Rasputina crew and Gluttony in a Colette or Kaeris G&D crew too, they seem less obviously powerful but still have some nice combo potential.  The only ones I haven't tried outside a C7 crew are Wrath, Greed, and Pride, but Pride's aura and his (0) of no cheating without being punished can be really frustrating for a group of clumped enemies.

  5. I find my enemies have a way higher fear of Willie than I'd normally expect, and he usually gets focus fired pretty quick in my games.  But I've liked him as a bit of ranged in a Mei Feng crew, and Ironsides giving him Hand Picked Men is fantastic (plus he can drop effectively a 1 damage blast on a walk onto your Oxfordians, giving them HPM too).  I haven't tried it yet, but I figure pairing his Set Charge with a Union Miner's False Claim and/or Gluttony's Rhythm To Those Who Hunger sounds like a pretty nice deal too.

As for schemes and strats, he wants something that makes your opponent clump up like Guard The Stash or Extraction.  His range isn't amazing so if he can't catch up to the enemy he's not going to do much.  However the fact that he drops blasts on Wk actions and on his death means if he gets there he'll always get the chance to at least do *something* to the enemy.

They will come to retail... define "soon"* :-P

Slightly related way of asking two questions in one, can we expect the Upcoming Releases page to include October before GenCon?  I do like to help out the LGS, but I also want the new pretty models now and knowing if they're coming before the Winter will definitely help my choice :P

I want the new book, but I tend to use digital copies more in the long run.

Same here, plus with the fact that I'm moving from the West coast to the East means I'm really looking at all the physical books I have and am wishing I had more of them as PDF's lol.  I'm just going to have to rely on what I hear until the PDF gets released.

Well it depends on what you mean. Each of Sandeep's Ca actions can only be beaconed once per turn but Furious Casting doesn't need to be all the same action, so an Oxfordian can Furious, do a Sandeep action and then two Elemental Bolts. There is no way Furious Casting lets you get around the once per turn of a single one of Sandeep's actions. If Sandeep has loads of Ca attack actions (as Furious only works on attacks, not tactical) you could of course cycle through several in a single Furious action.

Exactly what I'm thinking, yeah.  Giving the Oxfordians more flexibility in what they're using their Furious Casting on (and potentially getting a 4th AP through Sandeep's Student of All ability in one 6ss activation) can't be anything but good.  Heck, if he has enough good Attack spells they could theoretically spend all 3 AP on Beaconed spells (all different ones of course).  I just really want to know not only what, but also how many spells Sandeep has!

I'm hoping the news letter comes out in next couple of hours as I'm about to go on hols until 31st with no access to emails....

I'll be in a similar situation, I'm on a family road trip during GenCon, going to be relying on an old cell phone's internet abilities for buying stuff xD

  10. The big guy is the totem? That is pretty great xD I'm guessing Kudra's the Henchman then, unless they're pulling a Huggy and making Banasuva a Totem/Hench. I do hope the Poison Gamin aren't the Totem for the sake of the Mech Rider's summoning options getting even more flexible. Also with Poison Gamin coming, maybe Scorpius might start showing up paired with them in lists? I'm 100% ordering these from the store during GenCon, can't wait to see what they all do but I think I'm already in love :D

  11. I've only played Snowstorm in Henchman Hardcore so far but I think she's great at it.  I like your Snowstorm list 2 best because I think you really need a heavy hitter and BoD is decent for the role.  When I last played a HH tournament I ended up going 3/1 with Snowstorm / Ice Golem / Ice Gamin / Silent One (Ice Golem does really well when its getting heals, teleports, and there aren't many enemies to beat on it).

For the others I'd say Joss list 2, Cassie list 1 (but IMO the Mannequin's a bad idea, you're going to need non-insignificant bodies like the Arcane Effigy maybe by the center point), Captain list 2.

  12. Very exciting stuff!  If only September was in the queue as well, I have a need for the Arcane Emissary and some Wind Gamin :P

Question, will Ripples of Fate be available as a pdf during Gencon as well?  Didn't see word on that either way in the newsletter and I prefer electronic expansion books personally.

  13. I don't play Marcus so can't help there, but Colette, Mei Feng, and Ironsides all kinda fit that bill.  Colette herself isn't a Ml master of course, but with Prompt and her Doves giving :+fate damage flips where needed, she can make any beatstick you bring extra good.  Mei Feng and Ironsides both like to be in melee but neither of them can really wreck face so much as they're really good at punching down and taking out lower cost models.  Ironsides is more of a bruiser sort of role than an offense master or a tank, she likes to sit in melee, take a bunch of hits, and punish them for it.  Mei Feng likes to bounce around the field and throw around clumps of weak enemies.  The good thing here is that all three of them will be happy with models from Ramos' box so you've got that synergy going for you too.

  14. I haven't used soulstones for any, but I've summoned them off my Mech Rider in a handful of games, mostly vs my opponent who likes using Collodi for the long range Magnetism shots.  Coming out at 2 wounds and Armor 2 is pretty nice too, makes people put in a real effort to get rid of them.

  15. For a Steam Arachnid Swarm you technically put three Steam Arachnids onto a 40mm base, with Ramos you definitely want the box of 6 Steam Arachnids.  Forum wisdom says to do 9 solo Arachnids and 1 Swarm, personally I've gone 6 and 2 but I'm thinking of breaking up the 2nd swarm into single Arachnids as well.
