  1. Just thought I'd update as hubby finally picked a master/faction

Big surprise, he chose Perdita/Guild. At least to start. He was undecided all the way up to the store even hah

Only issue is he doesn't want me to paint them like they're wearing leather :( I was looking forward to that. Ah well!

thanks again for the help guys :D

  2. @Dogmantra " The Sow - another pretty powerful melee beater who has CHARGE 9 WHY DOES A HEAVILY PREGNANT PIG HAVE CHARGE 9, anyway you can use her as a summon target too, but she works pretty well in combat"

I just have to say, this made me laugh :) It really should be Waddle 9... with a good bit of momentum, and clear murderous intent if you're between her and the bathroom, but still! I do not look back on those days fondly lol

  3. Makes me wonder why they put the wild boars in there with him? Instead of piglets. Maybe he does better with more wild boars? They do sell those separately as well.

I thought about buying his box today, but I already have everything in it, except him and penelope =/

I'd highly recommend slop haulers, even just in general, they're awesome!

  4. Loved their first one, haven't had a chance to listen to their second yet. I like battle reports ok and tactics are good but my love is painting and modeling so anything from that angle is welcome :D oh and lore, can always discuss the model's backstories too!

    *edit*

Just listened to second one last night - loving it =D Also I felt, despite the opinions to the contrary, that the four-year old's points were perfectly cogent and, as a result, more four-year olds should be given a spot on the Show. ;)

many of us have small children, or have had small children so it's no biggie =D you should totally get her to paint some of the minis! :P Then she can do her own review!

Other notes, ehhhh, maybe if possible you guys could get an interview with the soon to be winner(s) of the Wyrd IP? or whoever would be willing to do it, would be cool.

Got some work done on my Wyrd IP ELIM entry - that's the base part. Still working on the minis - they just got built and primed so they're at least starting to take shape. The Ruin is going to be a piece of Frostgrave Terrain/Diorama/Display for my son's Warband. He picked several Darksword Anthropomorphic critters for his band. I'm doing the leader and his apprentice (well and a warrior type) but he's going to work on the other members, with help :D

  6. I definitely get what you mean Omenbringer, about Bigger Hat. The first opponent I got it off on simply wasn't expecting it and to be fair we didn't do a run down of each others models, as we were both still very new. My latest opponent kept his master (another summoner) out of LoS - very simply by putting him behind other models. Once I get used to how to move around better, I hope to try to trade on the threat as much as I can.

Getting rid of my first turn hand in this particular instance would have been beneficial certainly, but I can also see your point about using high and low end cards, as there have been several times where I might have been able to try Bigger Hat, but had something in my hand I really needed to keep, like the masks!

Bayou Two Card is interesting as well, but I think too unpredictable overall. I don't mind using it when I am using the Bayou Gremlins and they only do say weak damage. I think you need to really be able to count cards to make stuff like Bayou Two card work really effectively. Which requires a better memory than I really have lol I mean I try to figure about how many high cards I've seen for instance, or how many low, but it's a very rough estimation. And I only just started being able to do even that. I'm sure better players will no doubt be able to use it to their advantage, better.

Anyway, this discussion has clarified a lot of points for me, so thank you all :D

  7. nice! thank you both!

I actually really like the Skeeters, they did a great job of tying up some stuff for me, just by being there. I never got off their ability to do one of Somer's tacticals but they did their job well. Learning to not put them quite so close to certain models seems to be a good trick. But then frankly placement and movement in this game in general is huge.

Somer never got his Big Hat off that game but the threat alone made my opponent completely block in his master, which sort of worked as well. I need to remember his Boomer more as well.

As always appreciate all the advice and help!

If you had cranky and Sammy sitting next to each other, activate cranky first with tell me a tale... React with Sammy, you can redraw two cards every turn without using a soul stone.

Another reason I need Cranky! lovely thank you :D

You can always resort to killing a Bayou Gremlin in melee (hopefully getting a Piglet out of the deal) and triggering Survival of the Fittest for Two Control Cards (hopefully getting that :mask ).

Unfortunately though if you don't have a :mask to drop for Do It Like Dis! then Som'er's summoning can be a bit more difficult. It can often be worth using the SS to get the :mask though so don't discount it.

Oh I hadn't thought of that either! thanks!

Currently making myself note cards so I can remember to do Somer's activations correctly, since they're not second nature quite yet. Just tracking all the stuff that needs to stay in various bubbles is 'interesting' to say the least lol

    Appreciate the help guys :D

  9. Had a game recently and I found I had some issues in the beginning with Somer's summoning, in hindsight I should have taken another turn to summon instead of advancing like I did (maybe). I'm just looking for any ideas maybe I missed for how to better control Somer's summoning.

After the game I realized, I could have stoned for the mask suit, which would have done me better service.

Part of the problem was my hand had no masks for "do it like dis" *or* any 8+s to summon off of!

Bayou two card looked like my only option, I got one summon off, but drew/flipped really badly for the other two.

So, is that just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes or is there something else maybe I should have/could have done?

Also, re: Lenny's damage reduction aura "Big Target" for friendlies within, I think it's 3? inches, does that include any piglets he summons from deliberately whacking the pigapult with his "I'll love it and pet it" tome trigger? The way I'm reading it, the card just says the pig suffers a 1/2/4 damage flip that cannot be cheated. Doesn't say "not reduced" though, so I was wondering if this would be included in Lenny's aura.

Ha, well trixie is one of the models I don't have - I really dislike the sculpt and would normally rather spend the 8 stones elsewhere, so I sold mine because getting a half price mah box seemed too good to pass up.

    Can you proxy it?

I haven't got her either =/ but everything I read makes her sound awesome

  11. A pig going wild and devolving into a wild boar could be awesome!

Sad Lenny can't summon but that's ok, just means I need to read more carefully. Makes sense anyway, that'd probably be either 1) really bad for Gremlins nearby or 2) really OP

I just happen to have the models done so I was curious but will save their uses for when I get the Ulix box.

    I'd take this approach.

Misaki is the only Master I have multiple games and games of experience with, although I have no experience with any sort of competition.

It rightly wouldn't matter who I picked if I was going to be in an environment with people trying much harder than I ever have :o

Lol, I should pay attention to which section of the forums I wander into :P  Dang recent post scroll.

Why is Ophelia not one people like too much?

    Ha been there, done that...

Honestly my whole approach to a lot of models (read, *any*) in wargaming is going to start with - do I like the sculpt? Followed by - does it do fun/interesting stuff?

But I guess there's a lot of min/maxing kind of approach to Tournaments and what not, and I'd rather play fluffy lists.

  13. Wow thanks guys! You're awesome!! this is brilliant

I also didn't realize focus impacted the damage flip >< I thought it was just the attack. I'd been tending to do it when shooting with Bayou Gremlins because a lot of my opponents have been hanging their models out near cover and I figured, at least that'll negate it somewhat.

I run/summon a swarm of bayou gremlins to soak up activation's and to spread over the field.

I take a slop hauler to keep the machine running.

I will sometimes run lenny if I want large damage output and exploding gremlins or pigs for a piggapult.

I often run a Warpig and hog whisperer as they effectively divert offensive attempts from my summoning machine and if left to their own devices crush, maim and destroy.

I really enjoy the taxidermist and feel he is largely underrated + damage flips are not to be taken lightly - he has taken out a few henchmen so far (turning snow storm into an exploding pig in tournament was one of his biggest highlights.

Skeeters are great with pull my finger and liquid bravery depending who you're facing.

Piggapult now often sees the field when facing anyone shooty especially if they have los tricks, Sonnia, Austringers, Rasputina etc.

I don't run Lacroix with Somer because fluff ... but I believe they are meant to be highly competetive with him, haven't needed to break this (personal) rule "yet".

Don't have the cards in front of me but would Burt's  "It's All in the Reflexes" apply to rasputinas attacks or is it only Sh (Burt + Lenny....brilliant)

It says Df (Ram) After succeeding, deal 2/3/4 damage to the attacker which cannot be cheated.

There's not a gun or melee mark. I guess, if I'm reading this rightly, as long as what she cast had a resist: Df Burt's Df would then trigger? assuming he had a ram, which with Lenny he prolly would.

After reading some more of the above posts, I'm not sure I'm following you when you (Dogmantra et al) talk about managing the cheatable damage flip, can you clarify possibly? Or do you basically mean when and when not to use Bayou Two card?

I'm probably getting Wong's box next, so I can get lightning bugs and Mancha Roja. It'll be interesting to see how they do.

I think Merris is probably also next on my list.

There's so much to really 'get' with this game! I love it but it can be frustrating at times. Still, Bayou Gremlins blowing themselves up - priceless.

Anyway thanks again for the help! appreciate it.

  15. So  I don't really have a WIP because I did this guy all at once - Burt Jensen. He was a TON of fun to paint. Really love his model. Was even not that bad to put together, honestly. I'm debating going back over his shirt's icon with a micro pen to help it look a bit clearer but not sure. He's still a bit shiny in this as his matte varnish is drying, I think. Plus, I had the light in an odd place trying to get the T-shirt to show up nicely.
