It's obvious to me that I'm not doing it quite right yet. Thinking I may need to use a thinner cloth to defuse, and possibly a darker background. Thoughts?

Have you tried with a black sheet (instead of white) in the back? Your gremlins are quite dark: would this be a reason?

Maybe an Executioner, a Death Marshal to move him forward and the Brutal Effigy? The Death marshal could come in handy if I pick up Tara for my ressers.

In the recent post below, it was recommended to get austringer and the brutal effigy, but Peacekeeper/Ryle seemed more appreciated than executioner:

It depends. Are you playing Outcasts or are you playing Leveticus?

The question may seem a bit strange, but if you look at all the non-faction models you can take with Outcast Masters and via Nix, the Resurrectionists are the major donors. If you play Outcasts and take a lot of out of faction models, you're likely to have a solid core of units you can take with Pariah of Bone.

If you start with Leveticus on the other hand it's likely that you'll be raiding the Arcanists, Guild, and to a lesser extent Neverborn, before grabbing Resurrectionist models so Pariah of Iron is the way to go.

One is not automatically stronger than the other, it's Leveticus after all, but your faction focus will often decide which is the most economical choice to take.

I have acquired Guild boxes mostly (Sonnia and Pardita) and the hired guns. I was actually thinking about buying Ryle now and was thinking which master would be complementary to him. So, I thought about Leveticus. Given your answer, Leveticus might not be a bad idea after all.

Hi Viruk. Still in my bad Polish: yakshemash? Strong contrasts might not be what you normally do, but this one is turning amazing. I cant wait the end if the month to see the final version!

Alright, Hoffman seems to be a good choice if his minions are also usable with Lady J and Sonnia. I also have no problems with expanding into the Arcanists territory to get a few more constructs for him in the future. Regarding the last master, I am leaning towards McMourning because he would help building a nice Resser crew for my wife. I know that I can´t use everything from his box but I think that I should have enought choice with the three other Guild crew boxes, Austringers, Brutal Effigy, Ryle and maybe Peacekeeper :)

I'm the new player talking, but I read in Pull my finger that, with McMorning, you can also expand towards arcanists as you can play the performers in a McMourning Guild crew.

Both of them and way above. Executioners are slow and really fragile for their cost. Ryle and Peacekeeper are difficult to kill and hit hard. Peacekeeper has higher damage and durability of the two, but Ryle is faster and he can heal and use soulstones.

    Excellent. Thanks.

Sounds great looking forward to seeing your guild progress. Not sure on the picture front I've never posted any images here. Possibly a restriction?

Yes, it looks like my "stock of megas" is over. But I dont understand how I can replenish it. I just assumed that, if I wait for a week, I'd be able to post pictures again, but I'm not sure.

Now that I'm looking at it again, how did you do the swords?

    Hey,

Just by mixing some green, black and white. I'm not sure, but I think I used the Caliban green from GW. It's a green that is slightly turquoise, that's why the sword appears a bit blue sometimes, especially when I mix it with a lot of white.

Looks great man, you working through all the criid box or mixing in some different guild?

Yes, I will. I also have the Latigo Posse, two autringers and the witch hunters from the starter box to paint. I'd like to post some more pictures, but the forum does not allow me anymore. Is it because I have to wait for a week or something? I should try to use lighter pictures next time.

  9. Hey,

I'm new to the Malifaux world. I already posted pictures of the first mini I painted on the page for the 2016 painting contest, but I dont want to flood it more before the contest starts in March, so I will post my progress here. I will be painting minis mostly from the Guild and I started with one of the members of the Sonnia box, a witchling stalker. Below is a picture of the little guy and another one on my work in progress of the other two stalkers. The first stalker can be considered as finished, but I may come back later on to him as I might incorporate some of Tawg's comments:

  10. Tawg,

This page is amazing. Thank you very much for the tip!

I like your idea of putting some blue or violet somewhere on the model. I'll try to think about how to do it. Maybe, as you suggested, adding an object on the base could be a solution. At least, I could add some violet in the shadows of the arms. I used a greenish brown for this model. I could experiment with some violet for the other two witchling stalkers.

On the goggles: I simply didnt paint them. I wanted to have bright eyes like in the original artwork :) (or maybe I'm just lazy). So, you are right: their color is the same white cream as for the mask (it's not the picture's fault!). I agree with your comment on the green of the eyes: it doesn't match. I first painted the eyes before the rest of the other green parts and used a warmer green as an intermediary color between the dark green and the white. But then, when I painted the metallic parts and the boots, I decided not to use this green anymore. Maybe I could experiment with some violet again for the eyes of the other two guys and come back to this model if this works.

Thanks for your comments! They helped me understand what was bothering me with my work.
