That is exactly what I needed Dhampir! And now I see why they work---there is a third piece that links it all together so that the two boards can pivot without hitting corners. Will get a set ordered and start picking out some nice wood for the outer frame. I may go fancy and use black walnut, we'll see.

"Yaayyyyyyy!" I am screaming while running around the house with hands straight up in the air.

I am ready to jump into some terrain building in a more serious way. I want to make a portable playing surface that folds in half at the middle. The outer rim will likely be a light hardwood 3/4" thick and be 3" deep. I will have a layer of hardboard on the bottom, mortised into the side boards, and then have 2" of depth to use rigid foam insulation for different levels. Has anyone had a good experience with hinges for such a board? I don't want something that sits on top and thus screws into the upper surface. I am looking for a hinge that I can lay along the outer sides adjacent to the middle join for a good length to give it some strength. I've looked around on specialty hardware websites, but don't know what to even call such a hinge. Any advice welcome. If my description is lacking, I could sketch up a diagram. Cheers.

@Joachim this is okay---you checked in with me and I added the SS painted to the tracking sheet a while ago.

Work in progress photographs of Calos and 2 Komainu. The colors of the flames got washed out to a flat yellow, but at least I got minis in focus this time. There are so many little details on the Komainu that I am glad I got a good early start this month. Hopefully I can make them look metallic and still have some color on them. Carlos' base is from the old metal line by Wyrd, and the Komainu bases are a Green Stuff stamp using a Basius tile and a MicroArts Studio base. Hope November is going well for everyone.

The field of terror terrain worked well. The scenario itself was really fun. Just fielding a crew of terrifying beaters from 4 different factions was a blast. With the corn field I was just lucky in that no one had to cross it in such a way that they were on top of the row of plants. I think I may plan out a larger field with spaced rows that are magnetized. The hanging tree worked, but people mostly just avoided it. The ground monster thing was by far the most versatile as I just threw it on top of an irregularly shaped tile and called it hazardous terrain. To finish up that piece my plan is to find a picture of a throat-like tunnel and glue it to the bottom---the base is already drilled out. The goal is to make it look like it extends well underground. During November I will paint Carlos Vasquez and two Komainu. I also hope to finish up the 50 mm sewer grate base by Wyrd, and start planning a new fold-away playing surface. I will post progress on the latter if it happens in the Terrain Talk section. Happy November painting everyone.

Finished my Shasta Vidaya Guards. 3 x 8 = 24 SS finished this month. I think I have the tracking sheet up to date. Let me know if you see anything amiss.

As soon as I saw the field of terror story encounter in the newest Wyrd Chronicles I knew I had to make this scenario happen---Tuesday is Malifaux night at my FLGS, and so is All Hallow's Eve this year! The three pieces below are what I have come up with so far. This was partly inspired by other images in the same issue of the Chronicles, e.g., the wasp nest. This is on a 50 mm marker, and will be added to a generic terrain tile, such as a flat forest bit, to indicate that it is terrifying, hazardous, or both. With a scarecrow being a main character in this story encounter, I wanted to have a corn field. Having the corn in tight rows would be more realistic, but I wanted to keep it playable as well. Anyone have any other ideas of how to pull this off? Maybe separate magnetic strips, but that is a lot of magnetizing. This is my hanging tree. It also has a wasp nest (inspired by Marko Paunovik). I will play this as hazardous due to the Malifaux-sized wasps that will come out of that nest. The tree is part of an antler I cut up. I especially like the organic-looking bottom of the 'tree' where the antler joined the skull. The victim is put together with the male multi-part kit. I had to mod the shoulders a bit to get the arm placement right. I did this in a hurry to be ready for this week's game night, so they are quite rough. I will make a post about how these pieces worked in the Field of Terror scenario. Cheers all.

@H4ml3t Try using a tripod or steady braced hand and no flash. A darker background will help as well---it looks like your camera is trying to balance the color with a very light background.

Hmm, blue is a good nautical color.
