  1. Each master has a particular play style that favours particular players and schemes/strategies. That's kind of the point, no master should be good for everything and everyone. If you use one master for a particular scheme/sttrategy combo, and another master for another scheme/strategy combo then that's exactly what you're supposed to be doing, just like it is with every other miniature in this game.

  2. I have to admit, the first thing I look at when getting into a new game is all the nice official paintjobs on the company in question's web site. I can't think of a single other miniature company that doesn't have a gallery of officially painted miniatures. Wyrd can do something like Reaper has done, include both unpainted and painted pictures of all the miniatures. That way people wont be simply turned off by paintjobs they happen to not like. I just don't think artwork and renders are nearly good enough. Malifaux miniatures are on the more expensive side, so I imagine more than a few potential customers want to see the actual miniatures they'll be shelling out a fair amount of money for.

  3. I was on the fence about Tara's crew, but the long legged dancing tara and big boobed dancing karina turned me right off. I really don't like how this long legged thing is becoming a common style for Malifaux miniatures.

Ryle is also a big disappointment, but then that was expected from the art in the book.

Whoever came up with the kneeling austringer needs to find a new job. The way the raptor is attached to the austringer's arm, and the general pose overall, shows the creator has no idea what he's doing. In complete contrast, the standing austringer looks amazing.

Fortunately, the minis I'm actually interested in getting (Molly's crew, Collodi's crew, and Widow Weaver) all look really good and I can't wait to get them. As for the rest, most are perfectly ok as they are, but I do hope these previews were released early enough that they can be modified before being sent off to be cast. Otherwise it's going to be a case of "ah, everybody hates them, oh well it's too late to do anything about it now".

  4. I'm having some issues getting a page of markers printed out. As an svg it either blacks out the image (chrome) or all the text vanishes (firefox). I tried converting it to pdf, but it seems to shrink (came out at 28mm instead of 30). Is there are other way it can be done?

  5. According to some new errata that doesn't actually exist, some models have new abilities based on their current sculpts. If I've missed any please let me know, or feel free to come up with some of your own.

Watcher - Flying in Circles: The Watcher can only move straight forward. Each time the Watcher moves forward 1 inch it must also be turned clockwise 45 degrees.

Death Marshals - (1) Take a Knee: For some reason  kneeling down causes the death marshal to grow in size. The death marshal gains the following condition until the end of the turn:
Kneeling: The death marshal's Wk and Cg are both reduced by 1, his Ht is increased by 1, and he gains a :+fate to all shooting attack flips.

Rail Workers - (1) Go Go Gadget Limbs (Ca 4 :tome; TN 14 :tome): The rail worker can elongate his arms or legs to inhuman lengths. If the casting flip for this action fails the rail worker's gadgets malfunction and he gains the Paralysed Condition. If the casting flip succeeds he gains one of the following conditions until the end of the turn:
Extendo Arms: The Rg of this model's Replacement Limbs increases to 6
Extendo Legs: This model's Wk and Cg are are both increased by 2

Nekima - (1) Smaller is Sexier (Ca 6 :crow; TN 8 :crow): Nekima shrinks down in size, but her breasts increase in size. This model gains the following condition until the end of the turn:
Distracting: Nekima's Ht is reduced by 1. Enemy models targeting Nekima with an attack action must make a Wp duel (TN 20) or be distracted by her giant breasts, suffering a :-fate to the attack flip.

  6. I've been looking for a Nekima proxy and the Freebooter one looks awesome. 65mm may be a touch on the large side, but it does make her as large as the mature nephilim (if he was standing up straight) and they are supposed to be the same Ht. What really boggles my mind though is that even though the Freebooter mini is twice the size as the official Wyrd one, they are both about the same price. Says something about Wyrd's pricing, doesn't it.

  7. She gets saved by Dita with an Iron Mask that traps Cherufe. It's in the rulebook. Then she reclaims her office, although the Guild doesn't really trust her. When Rasputina tries to kill her, she unshackles Cherufe's power once more. It's in the chronicles.

Ahh, thank you, that makes sense. So yea, I think I really need to reread everything in proper order. Maybe there's some way to make a chronological reading order or something.

  8. I still don't understand why it takes so long to get the pdf versions of Malifaux books out. Surely they should be released the same time as the physical versions. I mean the profits from pdf sales must be several magnitudes of order larger than from the sale of physical books, so not releasing the pdf as early as possible seems like shooting yourself in the foot. Oh well, if that's the way Wyrd wants to do it I say good luck to them.

  9. eBay or Trading forums is the only way you'll get your hands on the TTB version of Hannah which really winds me up as she was exclusive to the Kickstarter. Why do the TTB guys get a Hannah that looks exactly like the original artwork and is in my opinion a superior sculpt whilst the Malifaux guys get a horrible clunky ugly looking version that looks nothing like her original artwork and appears like shes in the club of models that don't fit on their respective base sizes properly?!

I'm hoping one day she is available at a Black Friday or GenCon sale because I'm reluctant to buy the "normal" Hannah

I'm also in the "TTB version is awesome, Malifaux version sucks" camp. Fingers crossed I can get lucky and find a TTB one cheap somewhere, or find someone willing to do a reasonable trade for one. If Wyrd releases the TTB version, even as a limited run, I'd get one in a heartbeat.

  10. I have read M2E and the Chronicles, I just didn't notice anything that finished the stories from the rule books though. Like what happens to Sonnia after she leaves the Necropolis in that giant fire whirlwind? Why did all the animals from Earthside turn into carnivores? What happened to spirit form Leveticus after he met up with spirit form Zoraida? What happened to the abominations from the Pit and are they the ones Leveticus now controls (if they are then how did he gain control of them)? The end of Twisting Fates left a lot of stuff unresolved. I did read Twisting Fates after I read M2E and the Chronicles, so maybe I need to reread some of their stories to see if any of them link up and I'm just not remembering.

  11. I'm curious about something, are the stories in Storm of Shadows a continuation of the ones from the first three books (does it tell what happened to Sonnia after she left the Necropolis at the end of Twisting Fates?) or are they all new stories that just deal with the Ten Thunders?

  12. Why does it need to be fixed? This appears to be an example of somebody portraying their opinion as a fact which is clearly not the case at all. It's not broken or a problem just because a bunch of people don't like it. If you feel it needs to be fixed, buy one and "fix" it yourself, failing that get the metal ones. I for one quite like the plastic Watcher. I know a lot of people don't but that doesn't mean there is a problem with it, I can see why they'd think it needs fixing. It's probably a design choice and I doubt Wyrd will be going back to redesign the entire model because people don't like it. That's not good business. Sorry guys but I think you'll have to put up with it or do something about it.

It's not an opinion, it's fact. Obviously you've never actually looked at the mini because if you had you'd see that one wing is about twice the size of the other. Fortunately I think I've found suitable replacement wings (the ones I've seen some people using to replace Kearis' wings), so if Wyrd isn't going to fix the problem, at least I have a way to do it myself.

  13. Small wings aren't a problem, it's the fact one is vastly smaller than the other. I'm talking about the new plastic one, not the older metal one. I actually like the older watcher, in fact if the Hoffman box doesn't get fixed I'll probably be swapping out the misshapen plastic version for one of the metal versions.

  14. I'm really interested in getting the new Hoffman crew box, but I'm not sure if I should get it now or wait. Is Wyrd planning on fixing the watcher with the shrunken wing, or are they just going to leave it as-is? I could just get a set now and try to fix the wing myself, but if Wyrd is going to fix the problem I don't mind waiting a little while longer.

  15. I collect masters, it just happens that most of the masters I own/want are Neverborn. There's at least one master from each faction that I really want to get, if not to play then just to paint up. Actually, the only faction I don't want a master from is Ten Thunders, for some reason I just don't like the look of that faction at all.
