So who is going from the West Midlands?! I'm in Wolverhampton now and you guys are my new team (know some of the Walsall lot are going but no idea of their usernames on here!).
We (Walsall lot) will all be going. I think I'm the only one with a forum account however.

I think its mainly due to the fact thats its a bit unfun to play against Belles and Nurses + easy Summoning. (I dont believe as a faction they are overpowered - just a bit of an eyerolling moment each time a belle gets off an unresistable lure etc)
-
Sonnia.
Because Ca 9 Flameburst with pseudo focus (Ancient Runes and Hold this) gets things done. Play aggressively and barring some bad luck you can really thin the opponents crew down turn 1/2 and then the whole game becomes somewhat easier.

Im game for this!

Hi can you please add Nicholas Martin to the reserve list, thanks!

List of models i like with Sonnia is
Witchling Stalkers - Remove conditions, hand out burning, great melee attack. Our best minion overall imo.
Malifaux Child - (Double Flame Pillars is a thing)
Watcher(s) - These are our best scheme models by far.
Francisco - Just all around superstar with El Mayor and usually becomes the focus of my opponents attention
Pathfinder - For Squatters rights and generally i feel this a model an opponent must remove or the game will start going downhill for them in the later turns/
Judge - Another all round henchmen, this guy is just a work horse.
Samuel - I like him, he does one thing only, but hes just so good at that (not many things in the game with weak dmg 4 at range that can ignore los and cover) plus hes even more deadly upclose.
Death Marshall - All round model, a little uninspiring sometimes but occasionally pinebox will win you a game.
Pale Rider - Criminally underated, probably the 2nd best Rider overall. The (0) action is easily the 2nd best out of the riders and mid to late game he can really mix it up and usually survive.
Guild Hounds - Cheap fast models for use in various strats and scheme. Quite pokey for 3 ss in combat to.
Austringer - Deliver Orders, the discard cards trigger and the ability to terrorize enemy totems/scheme runners.
Theres more but those models are probably the bread and butter for me. I still havent really got round to trying everything yet so no doubt that list will change over time (next up is hunters/abuela/exorcists)

My top 5 (in no particular order)Death Marshal - Although I hardly ever take more than 1, I think you should always consider a Death Marshal because Pine box can win games. particularly effective against Wp 5 masters/henchmen (Lilith / McMourning / Sebastian)Guild Austringer - Ability to terrorize totems and small scheme running models along with the ability to cause your opponents to discard cards, or deliver orders to push your models around (often to move out of combat) and then do interact actions will nearly always enable get you VP from unusual situations.Guild Pathfinder & Traps - This model will ask questions for your opponent, He and his traps have to be dealt with or they can lock down big areas of the board with their 2" melee which of course denies Interacts, attacks and charges. The Pathfinder itself has a pretty good gun with 2 excellent triggers.Watcher - Flight, Armour 1, Stubborn, Wk 6 = One of the better scheme runners in the game period. The cover removal is also very good.Witchling Stalker- Cheap Condition removal along with high (and accurate) damage output, Nothing more to be said that hasnt been covered by others(Honourable mentions to: Abuela, Francisco, Papa Loco, The Judge, Guild Riflemen, The Peacekeeper, Samael Hopkins and Pistolero De Latigo)

I dont believe placing a model off a cliff will do damage, its specifically called out that "placement is not movement" and falling requires moving off an edge. I would say that you cannot place a model in such a way as the end result will not be in base contact (as much as i find the idea of a death marshal opening his box over a cliff amusing )

In reckoning I concentrate less on the quantity of summons but more on bringing in quality minions (Punk/Students) and trying to bring in at full health (using the patchwork upgrade)
And as dirial said, liberal use of rigor mortis is your friend here, slow works wonders on key enemy beat sticks.
Summoning a punk zombie/student next to an enemy model and then making them fast will usually kill most non soulstone users. (Corpse Conductor really helps here)
Corpse Conductor punk zombies really stick around for a long time unless you can ignore HtW and HtK so theres little risk of them contributing to the opponents reckoning,
Nicodem imo has the tools to be good in all situations.

Hi
There is a club in Walsall where malifaux is played regularly https://www.facebook.com/groups/332772503867/ We are open every friday from 6pm to 10pm and first visit is free. Pre arranging games is advised
If you can get down there i would be happy to give you a game, just let me know!
-
Yeah I'd also err on the side of No, I think If a action doesn't specify a target then i would say (unless its proven otherwise) Counterspell aura wouldn't affect it.
As much as i would like it to
-
In no particular order
1. Old Cranky - This totem is a 4ss significant peon that hands out +1 Wp, Df flips, chance at Soulstones and card draw, Oh and he has a potential 4/6/8 gun... Yeah.
2. Slop Haulers - Just crazy good healing and the debuff off the attacks is amazing.
3. Bayou Gremlins - Dont think anymore needs to be said
4. Francois LaCroix - This guy is the best damage dealer for his points in the game, and then some.
5. Cross between Gracie/Sammie/Trixiebelle
-
Effects that modify the damage flip will state that they do so specifically. (Page 52 - Small rulebook)
this looks pretty slam dunk to me. Unless the relevant rule is giving a to all flip specifies that it affects the damage flip than it wont apply.

Im in!

Hm. Then why do so many upgrade actions list that they ignore restrictions? In this case, I see an FAQ coming.
I could well be wrong (it really wants to work how i think it does for 2ap!!)
