  1. There isn't what i would call synergy with mercs, but they do play off each other really well. For example the librarian can cast aetherithic theory on jack daw, the convict gunslinger or hamelin to boost the spell casting.
  2. I'd say add student of conflict, maybe some desperate mercs and maybe a Librarian. and you'd be set.
  3. I did some play testing yesterday with a my friend who was just starting Kirai. He's a champ with Lilith, but wanted something new. Bishop really shined in that game. I was not fully aware of what Kirai could do with Senshin. Bishop used adaptive fighter and toss aside to throw seishin away from kirai preventing her from passing on the hits. This let me get off my Assasinate scheme against kirai which i now learned is very difficult. Using the Student of Conflict to give Bishop fast also gave him so many more options. i think Bishop has earned a new found respect from me.
  4. I demand a drawing of Somner Santa and Gremlin elves....or Von Schnill Santa, a Taelor Ms. Claus and Viks in reindeer outfits.
  5. Recently after looking at his card for far too long if found out about a few nasty combos bishop has. -Combo 1 : Cast study opponent. +1CB and dmg against target enemy model. Cast Cage Fighter +2CB. Charge target enemy model. You'll have a 10cb and :+fate dmg flip and you'll have melee expert for a 10cb and for 2nd strike. It's range is about 7in, but it'll hurt just about anything. -Combo 2 : First activation move into proximity of enemy and Cast study opponent. +1CB and dmg against target enemy model. Cast Cage Fighter for +2 Def to keep you alive through next activation. 2nd Activation. Use adaptive fighter for :masks. If enemy model is in melee use melee expert and trigger toss aside. Move model 3" away. Use 1ap to Charge model again and trigger toss aside again. Repeat one more time. You'll end up with at least 2 charge strikes at 8cb :+fate dmg and 1 melee expert strike at 8cb and . Even if you don't kill kill the individual model you'll force your opponent to discard at least a few good cards. Also having the :masks from adaptive fighter increases your odds of Riposte on the defensive. Combo 3 - This is very similar to Combo 2 but works against a small group. Rather than targeting a single model you'll bounce between a few enemy models using adaptive fighter for :masks to toss aside or cage fighter and using the +2 def to avoid disengaging strikes and increase your survivability if the enemys are still alive. Edit: Rathnard has posted a similar thread earlier and went over some of these combos as well. A lot of credit should go to Rathnard.
  6. With the release of Vanessa i'll be breaking away from my strictly mercenary crew and buying up some arcanists to try out with her. Maybe i'll even grab a master or 2.
  7. I'm more interested in the arachnid swarm. costs 10, but for 3 models that can lower defense and increase my activations i think i'd be pleased.
  8. The librarian also loves to strip away opposing player suits. So against Ramos you can get rid of his built in :tomes. Her def buff also helps with with the friekorps below avg def. So she should be getting at least 1 useful spell off each turn. Her Rng and Melee attacks aren't very shabby either. Her Rng Ignores armor, but goes against WP and can't do anything to constructs i believe. She also has counterspell so she can ignore spells by discarding 2 cards or 1 tome and arcane resevoir. My best memory with her is killing a Snowstorm with a charge to win a game.
  9. Don't forget Duty also prevents Pandora from pacifying and inciting your models.

  11. I wanted to say no, but after looking at the card and the stacking rules on page 20 i'm not so sure. It only mentions effects on individual models, not crew hand size. So i'm not too sure either. "Arcane Resevoir: Increase your Crew's maximum hand side by one while this model is in play." Pg. 20 small rule book. "Ongoing game effects - Do not stack (apply their effects cumulatively) on a model if received from Talents or Spells with the same name unless indicated otherwise in their descriptions. Ignore additional applications of the same named effect to that model...." Edit.   13. With Vanessa i'm leaning more towards the Steampunk Arachnid Swarm. Pros - Melee Master, Healing Flip, Scatter for increased activations, messes with kill protegee schemes, Steamunk arachnids can latch on and drop defense, and they blow up with a cumulative 6 dg. Cons - Expensive, becomes insignificant after scatter, not too durable

  16. The SoC/Librarian combo is pretty decent but again it is a lot of stones in the backfield. One trick i've been using is on strats/schemes where i'm not objective grabbing i take taelor, sue, librarian and SoC and keep them fairly close top the Viks. Sue's Hurt action feeds me an extra 3 cards, and the librarian can heal him up with the SoC's Fast or her own furious casting. Taelor is a nasty deterrent and can move the whole group forward with her hammerstrike action. It's slow and turtled, but offers great defenses and just a fun play style. Sue - Gives Duty, Boosts WP, Up to 3 Ranged Strikes with Crit, Circle of Flames and Disrupt Magic Taelor - 3in Melee, Menace can be boosted by Librarian Aetheric Theories, Hammerstrike Pushes Librarian - Heals, Buffs Spell Casting, Strips opponent's built in suits, can stand inside Sue's Circle of Flames SoC on the charge has always killed when needed to and won me at least 3 games. Most people forget he has a sword.
  17. Fixed the Outcast and Resser 2 action so that the counters are placed on the board rather than being picked up. Thank you for pointing that out.

For onslaught, whirlwind and trigger happy if you flip the black joker and deal "No Damage" then will the chain end or will it continue because the card says "After Damage defender..." will it resolve in step 6 or an earlier step of the Damage Resolution chart? I believe Ratty ruled on this in post http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?24756-On-damage-triggers-and-wound-prevention&highlight=black+joker+trigger that it will stop because there was no damage and since it is a damage effect it is null. I may be answering my own question, but i'd like to hear your opinions so i can get off the fence.
  23. I run Taelor pretty often with my Viks so she's the only one i can really comment on. Pros: -Good against contructs. -3in melee range -Menace can keep a model from running from Taelor and Misaki. -Can push models 3in with Hammerstrike. Good to clear objectives or to move slow or activated models though doesn't always work. (Keeps Student of Conflict on the move when he uses Assist) -Has a master value CB, wd and damage output.
  24. Haven't tried it yet, but maybe if she's outside his auras. They are indiscriminate so she'd at a disadvantage as well. I recently used Jack Daw fairly well with a Hans, a student of conflict and a convict gunslinger. So Jack Daw and Archers may be a better combo.
  25. this brings up an interesting point that could affect a games. Does not being blocked mean he is unable to be targeted by disengaging strikes? if he can be targeted by disengaging strikes Wicked gets much more powerful.
