  1. Which I also disagree with as it is against the spirit, intent, and letter of the rules, and Justin has said this is an intent motivated rule set. I personally rule against such an interpretation in any event I run.

Regardless of intent it is legal and used regularly in events and in local play. Until it is in FAQ I wouldn't disallow it. The only time you have to move in straight line is during a push or when the action specified.

  2. When you measure, you measure from the closest point to closest point.    When the base cross another base, that measuring is now expanding instead of getting closer.

moving around a model during a lure is totally legal as long as you end as close as possible at end. So that means you can walk around the model as long as you end in B2B.

  3. I would disagree with that interpretation Peregrine.

Fair, but may be worth further discussion. Double checked the wording again on....

    7) Q: If a model with the Lure Action targets a model in base contact, can Lure be used to move the
targeted model, so long as it ends in base contact with the model taking the Lure Action?
A: No. A model which is already in base contact may not be moved any further with the Lure Action.

I see what you mean now, its worded that you can't take the lure the second a model touches the base of the model that lured it. So yeah I could see that denying it. However, the thing is that Huggy ignores other models and terrain during his lure, so he isn't technically touching the beckoner during the movement (lure is a movement). So he ignores it while he moves to the other side of it, as long as Huggy ends up base to base at end its legal I'd say.

Will admit if I'm wrong but not sure on this one.

  4. Just to clarify,  if targeting a friendly model, you can choose to relent before you flip to get your TN.   If you don't then the friendly model needs to flip for resist (Rst).

It looks like if yes, you can push the beckoner forward. No you can't push before hungering moves.
    FAQ
    32) Q: When do “After Succeeding” Triggers occur?
A: They occur after Step 5 of the Action sequence, so after applying the results of the Action.

Lure states the take must end the move as close to this model as possible. I do not believe that Hungering Darkness can walk past the beckoner because he gets into base contact before it walk though the beckoner.

    In the FAQ.
    7) Q: If a model with the Lure Action targets a model in base contact, can Lure be used to move the
targeted model, so long as it ends in base contact with the model taking the Lure Action?
A: No. A model which is already in base contact may not be moved any further with the Lure Action.

While these references are both correct, it isn't clear if the OP is saying that Huggy was in base contact when the lure started. If not than huggy can walk thru (or around), as long as he ends as close to the model as possible.

  5. Disregard this post. I thought silurids were 7 wds but they are only 6. A trapper is even better than I thought for removing them.

Yes, yes it is. If it can gain focus out of activation somehow I'm pretty sure that Silurid is dead dead dead goooooo.

Lucius... You want him... You know you do ;)  Even when focusing for his own AP the trapper can just cheat in a ram to crit and oneshot it.

Collodi does that better though. Dmg max higher with Lucius but chance of hit higher with Collodi.

  6. Ok, then. Thanks.

Anyway, atm I own one of the old deck (the ones all the same with just the different colored band on back) that I'm currently using. I also own a "retro" Fate Deck that I want to use but constantly procrastinate to sleeve because it's too cool and I don't want to lose one card somewhere so sitting in a drawer is a better place for it ti be. Now I'll get the 2-players starter box and I plan to use one deck for play and keep the other one aside, just because they're nice (and luckily they're the same bar the back and the border).
So, here's my fear. these looks a lot like the first symptoms to a disorder that will lead me to hunt and collect fate decks. Am I wrong..? Please, tell me I'm wrong :)

No you are correct, you will hunt/collect/and display all fate decks in the game of Malifaux. I think I have a copy of ever deck I know to have existed both official Wyrd release (except EBO cause I dislike those) and from an event somewhere in the world. I'm sure I've missed 1 or 2 but, yes I believe I have them all.

As a note! You don't need to sleeve the retro deck, its plastic, besides scissors that deck won't break. They are the best material and last forever. Its my main deck and I prefer them over any other deck.

I actually love, love love the new decks in the starter, sadly just really wish they were made out of the same material (plastic) as the retro.

  7. Read this not as "now you can and must declare the trigger", but "to use this Action you have to declare trigger"

Not completely true, you can still take the action you just can't declare any triggers from it.

  8. Through the Breach Halloween One-Shot

I'll be running a Through the Breach RPG Halloween adventure. You'll only need to bring a fate deck and a miniature. I'll have pre-generated characters but if people want to create a character that is fine too (would need to do that before we start at 6pm). If you have any questions feel free to ask.

    To whet your appetite!

The Carver is a legend in Malifaux, a whispered boogeyman who stalks the shadows, waiting to exact its vengeance upon the humans that have entered its realm. According to folktales and bedtime stories, the Carver is a lanky scarecrow with a pumpkin for a head and gardening shears for hands. It delights in creeping from house to house, peeking into the windows of children to see if they’re asleep. When it catches a child who is still awake, it leaps through the window, shattering the glass as it snatches the naughty little one up in its arms and carries them off to the land of nightmares for all time.

In the taverns, the stories are far darker. Some of the newer arrivals to Malifaux laugh at the idea of a walking scarecrow, claiming that the creature – if it even exists – is probably just some construct that has been dressed up like a scarecrow as a bit of a joke. Such claims might earn a nervous chuckle from those hoping that the discussion moves on to something more pleasant, but every so often, someone in the
tavern claims to have actually seen the Carver with their own eyes.

The tavern invariably grows silent at such claims, as such encounters are never happy stories. If the survivor tells their tale, it usually ends with a friend or loved one perishing at the hands of the Carver. Sometimes it leaps through a window in the manner of the children's stories, but the real Carver does not slink away until the walls drip with blood. Others claim that the scarecrow ambushed them in the streets and have the scars – and prosthetic limbs – to back up their stories.
There seems to be no consistent pattern to the way the Carver hunts its prey, save that its killing sprees become more prevalent in the lead up to All Hallow’s Eve. On that dreaded day, the Carver freely stalks the streets of Malifaux City, spreading terror and murder in its wake.

  9. That said, I'll just echo what everyone else has said about the Viks.  Being able to ignore all those regular defenses is what makes them so "killy" in the first place.  When I face them, I do my best not to bunch up my models together, although that can't always be helped.  Another nice model that I've found to have immense use is Sloth (from the Crossroads Seven).  As a 9 ss Merc, his "Just Lay Down" Df trigger is very handy for stopping people dead in their tracks.

Sloth is good, but he does need the crow (not built in if I recall) and if anyone can do out of activation attacks on him via Obey or similar (thinking Collodi's My Will here) he drops quickly. Against Viks while better I do think he is going to just get eaten up (as is really any case with the Viks). As was mentioned, just assume whatever the Viks get a jump on they're going to kill. The challenge is offering up the model you WANT them to kill and hoping it has some ability or way to do dmg while viks are doing dmg (i.e. Black Blood).

  10. I have to say regardless of master you MUST pick up a Doppleganger. Vital to NB dominance!

Besides that the first thing that comes to mind for me is Pandora. Lynch of course will work just fine. I love Lynch, one of the most pure fun masters to play in the game and quite strong as well. However, Pandora holds a place in my heart because she focuses so much on Wp duels which I love in the game.

    My vote is Pandora!

  11. I've been running a very fun/successful list of (think I posted in hidden NB forums, but not this open forum so here it is):

    • Collodi (Fated, Strum, 5ss)
    • Arcane Effigy
    • Trapper
    • Brutal Effigy
    • 3x Changelings
    • Doppleganger
    • Primordial Magic
    • Envy or Mysterious Emissary (Conflux of Music)

It doesn't do well on things like Headhunter but besides that I've had no issue deleting 1-2 models a turn starting on turn 1. Tonight I'm going to try a new list I'm working on for Collodi (not the one above).

I've had a lot of fun using Coryphee's, and tonight I may try 2 instead of 1. I hate line in the sand and I think Collodi may be the first master I may try it with again.

Will back up that trapper changeling combo, it's just brutal.

For line collodi would probably be the least likely master to go for it for me. Reason being is that our best model to accomplish line is spawn mother, but she needs mid-high crows and its to much of a competition for resources with collodi.

Yeah that's why I'm challenging myself with it. I want to see if I could mono-master for a tourney and be able to do LoS if I needed to (I have most of NB) but want to really play Collodi cause he's so much fun more regular. Thinking a vasilisa / coryphee combo and took another look at Shadow Effigy (nice model to have in something like this).

  13. Any plans to update this to be Shifting Loyalties compliant?

I have updated the app with the latest data from Shifting Loyalties. But it will not auto-update to this version like the past updates. This is because the database will be reset, causing user's saved collection and crew data to be lost so I wanted to leave the update optional. To update you need to visit the TestFairy link in the first post and download it.

Sorry for the lack of other updates. I lost a bit of the last update when I had to rebuild my PC, so I need to invest more time than expected to fix the bugs Clement mentioned.

Thanks for the update! @CritterKiller32 just a heads up that your signature links to the old forum link for this app, may want to update it.

  14. My experience as a TO is certainly... different from your experience with them as a player. I generally found them to be less than ideal in both assembly and storage. I think a mat and some loose buildings with scatter terrain is far more ideal.

I agree with @valhallan42nd assessment. Honestly with the advancements in recent years with laser cutting, etc. The fact we have pre-painted things like the plastcraft stuff below is a better more permanent solution for terrain needs.

    http://www.plastcraftgames.com/en/73-designed-for-malifaux

At the time TerraClips was a great alternative to other terrain available but it was a hassle to deal with for assembly. People would have to spend 20-30min setting up a table at the store before playing. We used it a few times and realized it was better for a permanent setup. While fun to design new stuff it wasn't great for just 'pulling' terrain off the shelf and playing with. God forbid you needed to transport it.
