  1. This event is THIS Saturday! I'm looking forward to seeing all you guys there. Here's the achievement sheet, so you can go ahead and start deciding on your faction/crew. Nayte's July Tournament Achievements.doc
  2. Tuesday, July 24th - 12:30pm till 5:30pm Thursday, July 26th 2:00pm till 6:00pm Keep in mind that the achievement tournament is this Saturday! I'm expecting 10-14 people to show up!
  3. Just a quick update: There will be a painting contest near the end of the tournament. Players are asked to set aside 1 figure they are proud of(Must be a Malifaux figure) and Victory Comics employee's and customers will judge your work! If you win, you will be given a voucher which is redeemable for an item in the prize box! It's looking to be a good turnout! See you all in 10 days! I will be updating this thread once the achievement sheet is finalized!
  4. This week Demo's are going to be from 11:30am till 5:30pm on Tuesday, and on Thursday I will be doing 2pm till 6pm, with games continuing throughout the night. With all the new players we've been getting, I am increasing the demo time and hands-on I have with the newer players. Tuesday, July 17th 11:30am till 5:30pm Thursday, July 19th from 2:00pm till 6:00pm, with demo's continuing throughout the night to anyone who requests more demo's! The turnout last week was huge, let's keep the momentum going!
  5. This week will continue my normal Malifaux demo's, however, Monday I will be hosting a demo from 1:00pm-3:00pm as well. Sunday, July 15th will also be a "Come in and paint" day, from Noon till 3. Bring some crews you'd like to paint! You can also get in a game with some of the other people attending. Hope to see you there!
  6. As Alex and Nix have said, we have two solid groups up here in Northern VA. I encourage you to come up and play in the upcoming tournaments, both of which are new player friendly(Nix posted both of them) I have no problem setting up a time at my store so we can get your up to speed with your crew. I'm a college student, and most weekdays I'm free. I can probably set something up with you on a Sunday if weekends are easier for you. I have all of the Ressurectionists and all of the Guild. If there is a crew you'd like to test, I have no problem bringing them out for you. If I had to suggest a master to learn the game with, it'd be Seamus. He's one of the hardest masters to kill(plenty of forgiveness to those 'uh oh' moments), has a ranged weapon(teaches you about cover, focused shots, etc), has terrifying, and is fast. His crew(Rotten belles, crooked men, sybelle, etc...) is well rounded. He does have problems fighting constructs and units immune to his terrifying though. Feel free to drop me a PM and I can set up a time to demo for you.
  7. True, but if your opponent really wants to keep your seishan there, they'll drop cards. After every model is done activating, you can try to move your seishan again. So them dropping cards to keep you there really isn't a factor. PLUS that master/model is probably paralyzed, which gives him zero melee range, so you can just snap back. Unless you're against something with Wicked, you're draining your opponents hand/flips at the cost of no action. Sounds pretty solid to me.
  8. Turns out I can't make it, but some of the locals should be making the trip up! I hope it's a huge success! Looking forward to hearing about all the games.
  9. Some more Kirai tips: While the lost love is a great model, don't rely on it. Too many players are reckless because "Hey, I've got insurance for her, who cares if she drops to 1wd?" It's surprisingly easy to lose the lost love. Either keep him safe in a forest, or try this: I usually walk him up the left or right side of the board edge as bait for my opponent. They'll go for an opportunity to kill him, get close, then I'll activate Kirai, into the spirit world to him, swirl spirits lost love and a beatyface model(Sometimes Datsu or a shikome, anything that can kill whatever was hunting Lost Love), and then summon Ikiryo on the enemy model. Your lost love will be safe, and whatever you baited from your opponent is dead. I've used this trick so many times, and the players at our store still fall for it. It's great when they send your Kill Protege target after the lost love. Priceless. The big thing here is to learn your opponents models. When you both pick your crews and are deciding schemes, take a good look at your opponents stat cards. Keep an eye out for Blasts and Pulses on the card. If you think their model is going to be in threat range of your seishan/Kirai, it's almost always worth popping the seishan to protect the rest of them. Don't be afraid to keep Kirai near all the action too. You will be killing lots of units; so keeping your seishan "battery" up and running is key. Jaakuna is an amazing model, learn to use her. She can shut down masters. I was playing a Som'er player, and I kept Som'er paralyzed 3 turns by Siren's calling him, next turn swirling Jakuuna just outside of Som'er Melee range(swirling with a Seishan, then snapping the seishan back to Kirai so that nothing was engaged with Som'er), and Siren's calling again. Rinse-Repeat and you have an opponents Master screwed. Either way, it more than likely they will ditch stones to stop it; and that's less stones they have to defend against Ikiryo and Datsu.
  10. Today(Thursday) I will begin Demoing at 3pm, feel free to come on by. Ask for Nayte(pronounced Nate), but more than likely you will see me and my gorgeous miniatures when you walk in! I will be demoing till around 6:15pm, with regular games continuing afterwards. I have no problem going past 6pm, just let me know before I start a normal game up.
  11. Just remember, she has a learning curve. Your brain will explode from time to time, so just be patient. It'll click eventually and you will wreck your opponents, haha. PS - Don't forget, if Ikiryo dies, you have to ditch 2 control cards. Don't be reckless with her like most people are. Losing a mask that you need for Kirai's "Into the Spirit World" is devastating.
  12. I use my stones almost exclusively to pull off "Into the Spirit World". Kirai NEEDS to move around the board and needs her (0) healing flip. I've been playing her with 6 stones, and I still end up with 1 left over after my game has ended. Small side tip: The Drowned are amazing, and anyone who tells your otherwise is insane. Swirling them into a group of your opponents models, then watching it explode... fun times. Dragging opponent models off objectives with their (0) Drag Under, is amazing. Pick up a blister, try them out. You'll thank me!
  13. This is a really fun and original idea, especially showing concept art of a model from the faction that wins for the week from the next book. It gives me even more motivation to get in more campaign games, and getting my players at my store to participate. Also, if you pay attention to some of the things said, it seems that the people running Breachside are also throwing in some hints on new stuff from the next book. Did anyone else catch the comment on the "Hulking Monster"? Are they refering to aSeamus, ADAM(Simulacrum 29), or something brand new? I think it's a teaser for something brand new! What do you all think? You guys are awesome for doing it, and I can't wait for each episode. Keep up the good work!
  14. Kirai. She shuts him down pretty hard. I've had some luck with Nicodem too, Rigor is soo good. McM tends to get picked off due to Onslaught + McM's low DF. H2W1 helps, but LCB will still be able to burn through your stones. Once you're out of stones, you're in trouble. While I haven't played Seamus in a while, I assume he'd be great to use to. The H2W2 defense is nice vs LCB. Just focus more on grabbing your objectives and surviving, rather than combating LCB. If you get into a sticky situation, use your belles on your own models and get your crew away from him!
  15. I encourage anyone interested in Malifaux to come out and see a demo! I have plenty of crews you can try if you're curious about how a certain crew works. EDIT: Saturday is a Magic Pre-release. No Malifaux this Saturday at Victory Comics.
  16. Haha, I was hoping you'd be there, seeing as you are the King of NoVA!

  19. I'm partial to Nix's Gamers Lounge podcast. Good content and I know the guy in real life, haha.
  20. I've liked playing Seamus without his avatar and bringing a grave spirit, throwing it on Sybelle. She's nearly unkillable and can sit on your opponents objective. The avatar is pretty awesome though.
  21. Hope some of us NOVA guys can make it up. It was a blast playing in your last event.
  22. Looks exciting! I'm hoping to come out, but we'll see. I don't drive nearly as fast as Lucidicide!
  23. Same here, if it wasn't Mother's Day I'd come out. PM me next time you guys have an event. I like Game's N Stuff; did they finish the remodeling/renovations yet?
  24. Haha, that's so true. Jaakuna and my other Kirai models are done now though! Let's see if you can take 'em out again.
