  1. Thanks. I really like Seamus too, so I think I'll play him a bit for a while before branching out, but I appreciate the insight. She looks very complicated on paper.
  2. I've played excactly one game of Malifaux, with two models per side. A coworker and I decided to try Malifaux and I bought a Lady J box and a Seamus box for learning, and then he bought a Viktorias box painted off ebay because he liked the models. I am really very interested in Colette, but I know she's kind of advanced. I'm curious how experienced with Malifaux people recommend one gets before running off to join the cabaret.
  3. Thanks. Are costs in Malifaux always per model, then?
  4. I wanted to clarify, is each Coryphee 7ss, or is the duet 7ss? It looks like the duet is 14ss to me, correct?
  5. Thanks. I picked up the rules book, the Seamus box, the Lady Justice box, and two fate decks.
  6. Model Color uses a latex base, so it's a little soft on the model and can be damaged more easily (it was originally an animation paint). Game Color is a resin base and is more durable. I prefer how the model color flows, it's silkier or something I feel, and I prefer a more naturalistic paint approach so the colors are more appealing to me in Model Color. Also, I feel Game Color can preserve brush strokes while Model Color doesn't. I don't have any problem with the Model Color chipping once I have put a good brush-on matte varnish over the model, though the color does lose some billiance, whereas the Game Color starts much brighter and so varnish brings the color down a bit, but it still satys a bit bright.
  7. Hmmm, the ones that appeal to me most (and since I am fronting the cash...) are Lady Justice and Seamus, but Lady Justice looks like she has a hard counter to Seamus' undead minions. Is that not the case?
  8. Yeah, we're gonna trade off and play each, and learn the game before we pick a real crew for ourselves. I saw the great advice at the wiki, but couldn't get a sense from that of the "synergy" between two boxes. We're both experienced gamers so we can work it out if we have a good starting point.
  9. Sorry if my search-fu is poor, I couldn't find something like this. A friend and I are interested in learning Malifaux. We were looking for suggestions for two starter boxes that would provide a good learning experience for the game. Specifically we want something that provides a reasonably balanced competition and as representative a cross-section of the way the game plays as possible in such a limited sample. Thanks in advance!
