What screen resolution (actual pixels) is that tablet?  I wonder if it's a matter of a bad mismatch between the image size that got chosen for the cards, and the screen size on your tablet.

One of the surprising things that got mentioned is that they don't currently do any dynamic card rendering (so that the devices could just use high resolution fonts), because that would have required going through and changing too much stuff in how Wyrd generates the card data.  Theoretically, that would have reduced the data size a lot, but required a lot of extra work to implement.

    The tablet has a resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels, 16:10 ratio (~299 ppi density) .

  2. Looks like it's been addressed in the link above.

Yes, it's more prominent on larger screen sizes. The screenshots don't convey how it looks on the screen that well but these are from a 10.1" QHD Android tablet: https://imgur.com/a/s6FvGiH

I understand the reason and it works well enough. Much like HQ texture packs in PC games, it would be great to have the option in the future for those with the space capacity.

The app really is great though. This just stood out to me on my initial use. Cheers

  3. Another option is to not have Wyrd produce them if they would interrupt model production.

Corvus Belli uses a partner system which endorses other companies to produce officially licensed products. The partner (ideally a company that already makes counters) produces the product and sells them backed by the official logo and art.

It looks like Wyrd has done this with PlasCraft for terrain (a CB partner also). Hopefully, they try the same with a counter making company.

  4. Yeah I have the same problem. Also, can tell because the FAQ is from 7/1

Had the same issue on my Nexus 7. App. updates, but the FAQ does not (7/1). Same result with three different PDF readers (ezPDF Reader, Foxit PDF and Quickoffice).

To resolve, I went into the OS>Settings>Apps>App info settings for "The Breach" and Cleared the data. Upon relaunching the app, the correct FAQ (9/1) launches when clicking the link. Of course it's not ideal, as saved crew lists are also wiped. Hope this info helps with troubleshooting.

  5. I couldn't find stock at any of the US online stores I have bookmarked.  I did find stock at Combat Company, Underground Wargames (AU) and The Troll Trader, Arcane Miniatures and Valiant Wargames (UK).

If your in a rush maybe consider an import, although it's probably cheaper to wait for the eventual restock.

  6. My guess is that, like me, most of the people who were interested in them found that it took too long to set up to be really useful, while also generally working best with options that are no longer present in Malifaux as of second edition.

    Pretty much.

I hope Wyrd try the licensed partner business model again though. Corvus Belli have used it to great effect gaining an impressive selection of officially licensed partners for terrain, counter sets and accessories.  These non core products are just what Wyrd need to boost their market profile post M2E imo.

  7. Hi. I'm trying to drum up more interest in my local meta for M2E and a large part of that is a big fat OT in the group forums.  When summing up masters and their crews however, I realised I don't know much about many of them (especially the new M2E masters) aside from very general conceptual ideas.  Essentially, I want an elevator style pitch for each master and their core crews to add to the OT.

The concept I'm using is a simple 4 bullet point approach being:

    • Crew theme and visual look
    • General master abilities and playstyle
    • Crew general abilities
    • Crew general playstyle

    Some examples:

    Lady Justice

    • Anti-Ressurectionists/Undead hunters theme. Western motif
    • Powerful melee beat-stick with crew buffing abilities
    • Crew has strong ranged attacks, good melee and anti-undead abilities
    • Crew pushes steadily forward into melee under well positioned ranged support

    Sonnia Criid

    • Anti-Arcanist/Witch hunter theme. Inquisition motif
    • Versatile ranged spell caster that attacks with fire and blast damage while counter spelling directed magic and occasionally summoning Witchlings
    • Crew has a mix of strong ranged attacks and melee units with magic suppression and condition removal
    • Crew sends units forward to deal out burning, which is then used to launch attacks disregarding LoS and Cover

    Perdita Ortega

    • Anti-Neverborn/Gunslinger gang theme. Wild West motif
    • Powerful ranged expert that is equally deadly in melee thanks to the Gunslinger ability. Can shoot around cover and out of activation
    • Crew specializes in powerful ranged attacks, but has several abilities to help them perform in melee along with innate condition removal
    • Crew slowly advances laying down suppression fire, baiting units into LoS where they can chain activate and eliminate targets

Although the Pull My Finger Wiki is a great resource, it's still in the early stages of M2E and a lot of the masters have no descriptions at this time,  I had hoped this exercise could also double up and feed back into the Wiki.  Ideally, a poster would include an entry for their master or one they used during the beta, thus making it more manageable (divide and conquer and all that).  Feel free to add your own take on the three above also. Hopefully, if this idea gains any traction everyone can pick entries of their choosing.

Although there are several dual faction models, that's still 49 positions to be filled ;)  Thanks for your time.

  8. Congrats!

Almost 11.5K! Now is the time that campaigns usually double down on existing contributions to break through to the next goal. Are there any plans to offer some last minute deals? I could be tempted to contribute for another town set if it was discounted; say x% off on a second set if you already bought one set etc.

Your probably so close to cost that it's not possible, but just throwing out some ideas (go go mining building *wink*)

  9. Absolutely. They could also include things like a quick reference and game setup card in the same box.

I feel there are some obvious missing value adds to the main game (official counters/markers set, transport bag patches, fluff/art compendiums, mobile army builder, merch like t-shirts etc.) and this is one of them.

From memory SmoothWD40 did some during the wave 1 beta that mysteriously disappeared not long after *wink* Fingers crossed they might make it out as a retail product one day.

  10. I honestly don't see a very strong argument being presented for Wyrd giving away the stats on their models for free. Does any other successful company make all their rules available for free?

    Sure, Corvus Belli with Infinity.

Personally I'm about options and would like:

    • Paid faction decks (costs need to be covered). Plastic would be nice, but realistically to keep costs down (especially for players with many factions), sleeves or lamination would still be needed.
    • Books for future models and expansions containing fluff, artwork, scenarios/missions and statcards. Those that enjoy the former and wish to further support Wyrd in this form can do so
    • Statcards to be part of a mobile application like PP's War Room. Errata and updates to be automatically downloaded via this app. Service value here from other functions would offset the availability of below
    • Free pdf downloads (a timed release after the books and app perhaps) for those that wish to print their own and more importantly , peruse the range to gauge future model purchases without the barrier of multiple $30+ books

To touch on that last one. In my group many players sat on their box set with a blister or two gained from starting out master entries on the PMF wiki. It wasn't until I brought my books regularly to game days (own all 4) that they read all their faction statcards and subsequently purchased new minis.

Secondly, the existing free pdfs are used to learn about other crews and kept them anchored in the system longer.

I think there's a strong case to be made that it would lower the cost barrier of entry generating new players and increase the purchase rate of existing players. Of course this is all opinion based on opportunity gain. The tweets do sound promising though.
