  1. But you can't drop counters has you like. Your Mcmourning needs to die for that. And i know you don't want that to happen

This. Also note that if your Chihuahua magical extensions Wracked With Pain it will gain a body part and drop it when it dies. This is a good way of getting an extra body part if you're doing first turn hack'n'summon shenanigans.

  2. painting white / creme is hard.

I have a pretty failsafe and simple method for painting white clothing that still has depth. Base coat white, liberal sepia wash, moderate brown wash, gradual but pretty heavy drybrush using Citadel's new Pallid Wych Flesh. The Wych Flesh is unbelievable for whites, it has this slightly off-white effect that gives the brightness of white without being over the top. Plus building it up from that sepia/brown lets a hint of that through if you take your time on the drybrush and let it build gradually.

  3. Sounds like some fun games! Some things I noticed though:

The Rasputina player's crew was 36ss

When you Mannequin replacement a model that model is gone for the rest of the game, you don't place them back at the end of the turn. It's a devastating trigger.

If the Student was attached to Kaeris, when Kaeris died the Student would have been removed as you remove all totems attached to a master/henchman when it is killed or sacrificed.

  4. I agree wholeheartedly about the Strategies and Schemes, they are by far considered to be the biggest flaw of the game by the guys I play with regularly.

What I'm not sure you can manage is to make every model balanced and competitive. Especially when you look at things from a competitive standpoint. There will always be models that just don't work as well as others, buff them and you will relegate other fringe models to the useless zone. Competitive players will always look for the best models to achieve their goals, this will always fall on the shoulders of a few models, no matter how hard you try, because power levels are all relative. Every action in changing a model creates a reaction in effectiveness of the rest of your available model pool.

This is fine in my opinion. There will always be models that people won't want to take to win with that might take it for fun / fluff / they like the sculpt / a challenge. It's just the nature of tabletop gaming.

The other point I'd like to add is about 'power creep'. This is a necessary evil in my opinion when it comes to any form of tabletop / card game, especially for smaller companies like Wyrd. A new book comes out, the models are slightly better, everyone goes out and buys them, $$$. If all the new models were on par with the models people already had, well that is just bad business. A car company improves every year's new model so that people will want to upgrade, why should Nathan, Eric & co deny themselves income? Once you embrace that, retiring some models and looking at how to best utilize your new options becomes as much a part of the game as anything. You can always go back to older models for nostalgic fun games, but to try to maintain a complete balance while continuing to grow the business and generate income is laughable.

  5. I never use the Nurse, all these reactivate then shrug off or dog/desperate mercenary one turn wonders just seem too complicated for my liking.

    You're at a negative

No idea about Austringers and the only effigy I had planned to get turned out to not be worth it so not much idea about them either.

Rafkin can be useful for Nicodem but I only know the theory of it never seen him used, Mortimer I've seen used well by Nicodem and Seamus. Remember Molly can copy his exhume corpse spell too.

Jack Daw I really cbf explaining but basically:

    1. Put up no cheat aura

    2. ???

    3. Profit

Top of page 18 in the rulebook, if the spell has a :melee icon it's a melee attack, so yes McMourning heals.

  6. Completely off topic of a Female master but talking about horror movie characters has made me want to have Samara from The Ring. Just place a well on the board, nominate an enemy model, that model must pass the mark of Samara onto another model and so on each turn. Anyone who breaks the ring of message deliveries has Samara crawl out of the well and claw their face off.

  7. So I recently got Simulacrum 29 and Kirai's avatar, and am looking to possibly run both of them at the Australian GT in September. Games will be at 30ss and I'm at a bit of a loss how to build a 30ss crew that will maximize aKirai's output. Obviously crew is dependent on strats/schemes, but since I'm a much more confident McMourning player I will only likely bust out Kirai if I need a lot of movement shenanigans, which makes me think maybe aKirai might not even be of any use to me. Hit me up with some knowledge.

  8. Amongst your mates there's no problem unless they're nitpicky, official prize supported wyrd tournaments and a lot of gaming store tournies won't let you proxy. I need to find something to use for Gaki, I can't stand the models, I can't seem to even build them properly (my modeling skills are pretty fail), so at the moment I'm using canine remains. That won't fly at the Australian GT in a few months so need to figure something out fast haha

  9. The idea behind the effigy is twofold, first to give her a hand of 8 cards by doubling up on arcane reservoir, secondly to increase her mobility by letting her spend her two general ap on movement then still be able to get off an ice pillar and a damage spell. Once in position the ability to launch 4 Decembers curse, with a large control hand giving more chance for the overpower trigger to be cheated in, just seems too good.

I have problems keeping the essence alive, between blast templates and lure being a large part of my local meta, I think the effigy offers a more survivable utility piece.
