So I will be going into job corps (jobcorps.gov can answer questions about what it is better than I can), and I want to be able to play while I am there. Access to an flgs will be limited at best. I don't know whether anyone will even know a thing like tabletop gaming even exists, so I need to figure out a way to get people interested so that not only can I play, I can also spread the awesome that is malifaux to the unsuspecting public.
O a side note, if this is in the wrong place, go ahead amd move it.

Not going to gen con, bit here is me anyhow

Updated my showcase thread.
A, lsolast week I picked up a few paints, I plan to pick up a wash and an iron metallic.
-
It has been a but since I updated, I now have the kaeris box set and the rasputina box set, plus the essence of power.
Ter final picture is what I have left.
-
I am pretty sure you get to choose which happens first. Obviously with a belle you would want to make your S2D action first, and have the corpse counter be placed away from the Peacekeeper.
-
My guess is the metal gamin and golem will have something like iron heart (name is tentative) that affects how they respond to willpower. They will also probably have shatter.
Willie will blow stuff up.
Railroad workers will have some heavy melee stuff.

I have 59, 9 of which are painted, I an working on 3 more, only 3 need to be primed.

http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?33676-Painting-on-a-Budget-2-The-Showcase
Ok, so here is what I've fine, did it yesterday, and I apologize for the quality, I will retake pictures later. Something did come up though, I don't really know what a wash is. And there are many more models I want to quirk on because I don't have the paints for the bass insets or skin. Any suggestions, the first ones after I do the other three ice gamin will be my fire gamin, then I want to do kaeris since I already have an idea for what I want to do, though it may be worthwhile to get some more practice in on other things.

Hah, It reminds me of Napoleon.

Not really a sequel, but it is connected with my other thread: http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?33634-Painting-on-a-Budget
Ice Golem
Ice Gamin
Not the best quality pics, they were taken from my phone.
-
Ok, I got the Ice Golem and three of the Ice Gamin painted, using what I have. I am thinking I will start a showcase thread when I can get the pics uploaded to PB. They will be phone-camera shots, and I am not an expert photographer. So I will do that in an hour unless advised to the contrary..... I am kinda nervous about doing so though.
-
Oooh, I know what I will be saving my next actual model buys for.... Hopefully I can get stuff painted before I buy that in a store.
-
I usually run Raspy when I get the opportunity to run arcanists, but I recently got Ramos, and I started my arcanist buys with the kaeris box set, and so they all see love.
-
What about a sealer? How important is that?
-
I started with Seamus, and after learning the rules and a few games, I decided I didn't really like his play style. I picked up the viks, then later kaeris followed by rasputina shad most recently ramos. I haven't gotten to play arcanists lately, but I no longer play seamus at all. It isn't that he is unplayable, I just don't like the style. I consider rasputina to be my main.

Well, my base motivation to paint them is to make them look better than the base metal. As for whether I like doing it, I honestly don't know, as I haven't gotten anything painted.
And I believe once things turn around financially, I should be able to find a way to re-do my painting, bit by bit.
I do have a couple of metallic paints, an iron and a copper, I might also have a gold.
I also need to know about any decent primers, as I have recently moved and don't have much primer left, and I am not sure its all that good....
-
Ok, so... I have decided I should probably get at least a good portion of my models painted before I continue getting more. And I am on an extremely limited budget, on average I only have maybe $20 a week for the hobby. I have a small collection of paints, though I don't know for fact that they will be helpful in painting a good majority of what I have. I don't know how to be helpful to those who would help, so I will give some information on the models I have.

I believe Stitched Together count as killed from Schemes and Strategies when DOES NOT DIE! comes into effect.
From http://www.malifaux.com/Fixes.php :
"ERRATA: - The Stitched Together counts as Killed for Strategy and Scheme purposes the first time 'Does not Die' comes into effect."
I must have missed that, though of course I haven't come across Stitched Together with my Viks, I tend to come across them when running Arcanists.
-
The wording (I don't have the book right in front of me) Reads something like this: If the first two models Killed are enemy models, you gain 2 VP. So no, they cannot be sacrificed, which makes stitched together a pain for that scheme. But it can be easily said that it will either guarantee you 2 vp against Hamelin or Levi, or it will slow them down in certain situations.
-
@ Alex: that confirms what I had thought, but making absolutely sure is important to me.
-
Not having the time, energy or patience to read through the entire thread, it seems to me that there is one crucial thing people seem to be missing.
No game should be focused on piece by piece balance, except for checkers, or go, or if there were other games like that that I don't know. For example, in chess, while you can take the queen with a pawn, it would be easier to take a pawn with the queen.
And as a whole, to me at least, Malifaux is quite well balanced. Not model to model, but faction to faction. If you only have one box set, you are quite limited in your options, and so in many situations you will likely find that winning is not only difficult, but potentially impossible. But then you get more models to plug the holes in your crew, or to play specific roles. And get more crews to give yourself even more options. In the end, if your focus is on the individual models/masters/crews, you are going to see imbalance, but if you look at the game as a whole, you will see more balance.
I don't know anything about any other miniatures game, and to be fair, I know little about this one, and I don't get enough practice to call myself skilled, or even good, but I still enjoy myself.

I go to Giga-Bites usually, though I don't get to often because I am on the other side of I-75 and am closer to Raven's Nest Games and Comics, though I haven't had a chance to see if it has adequate gaming space.

Do you ever change what your casual lists look like due to them being too potentially brutal? I had an experience playing using a Viks, and decided to do that myself, though I might just put it back in for the fact that they can ber game changers in certain strategies. I might just include them if my opponent is fielding an avatar. Just looking for your opinions on this kind of behavior.

Ok, I do have the kaeris and raspy box sets painted, I light to get to quirk on the viks. (i was surprised to see that I own three of the masters on the good for beginners list). Any tips on running demo games, amd would I get some resources to assist me if I were to become a henchman?
