Seeing Manos in a new box gives me hope that we will see Minako and her dolls in a Themed Box too (I hope it isn't part of the new Core Box of Misaki)

They won't be. Katashiro are Oni. I can see them being boxed with Minako though, as she is one who specifically summons them. She's also Versatile, as is Wanyudo which her mechanics also summon.

Have to say that I've no idea whether you're agreeing with me here or not - kinda not following you here, unfortunately.

"She was in a coma, not in a prison, so naturally much more playable" must be the one of the weirder arguments I've heard here. But I'm not at all sure what you're even arguing here for? Just to disagree with me? Or am I missing your point? As this seems to contradict what you were saying previously.

TOs are already banning them. Two years from now I fully expect them to be completely banned. It's how things go - this isn't my first rodeo.

In official and tournament play, sure. But how do you expect to ban something from casual play when there are rules for it? You're also forgetting that she was in a coma in first edition, and came out before the shift between editions. You are so dead-set on this being the worst thing ever that you are making excuses for why it's a terrible choice and not a good thing for a story-driven game to have characters removed. Wyrd didn't have to make rules for characters that were removed from the story at all, so your being mad that they did make rules for them is rather absurd.

I apologize if anyone has posted about this already, but I love speculation and a forum search turned up nothing. The list has some things that are clear as to what they are, and others are a bit more... opaque (figuratively speaking of course). They are all supposed to have sculpts that are already released, but I can't seem to pin down what would be in the boxes.

WYR23115 Six Feet Under: Based on the code and name, likely to be a Marshal box.

WYR23116 Wake the Dead: Another Guild, also Marshal?

WYR23209 Surgical Staff: Resurrectionist, Experimental seems likely

WYR23217 Vengeful Ghosts: Resurrectionist, Urami is most likely

WYR23221 The Returned: Resurrectionist, I have no clue on this one to be honest

WYR23223 Eternal Servitude: Resurrectionist, Also not sure

WYR23308 Altered Beasts: Arcanists, Probably Chimera

WYR23310 The Ten Peaks: Arcanists, I'm thinking December

WYR23322 Support Staff: Arcanists, Either Academic or M&SU

WYR23420  A Light in the Dark: Neverborn, This is a tough one, if Lynch were still dual-faction or there were Neverborn models with Honeypot, that would be my guess, but alas.

    WYR23423 The Howling: Neverborn, Beast/Chimera?

WYR23430 Familiar Faces: Neverborn, Elite makes the most sense, but with the Lucius box not on the release schedule yet it seems unlikely

WYR23503 Hired Killers: Outcasts, my money's on Mercenary, though it could be Friekorps

WYR23523 A Hard Day's Work: Outcasts, This could fit with the theme of several keywords in my opinion so it's tricky.

WYR23613 Bayou Engineering: Outcasts, I'm guessing this will have Sparks and Mechanized Porkchop.

WYR23615 Off the Top Rope: Bayou, This one has to be Mancha Roja and Wrastlers

WYR23627 See Ya Later: Bayou, Maybe McTavish and Gators?

WYR23716 Ancient Evil: Ten Thunders, I have no clue here, as most of my guesses are being released separately. As an aside; being a Ten Thunders player, this one has me the most curious.

Obviously, if this kind of thing isn't allowed, please delete.

Okay, so the upcoming releases page has been updated so we now know what's in these boxes.

WYR23115 Six Feet Under: Marshal (The Lone Marshal, Exorcists)

WYR23116 Wake the Dead: Marshal (Death Marshal Recruiters, Domadores de Cadaveres, The Jury)

WYR23209 Surgical Staff: Experimental (Rafkin, Nurses, Guild Autopsy)

WYR23217 Vengeful Ghosts: Urami (Goryo, Seishin)

WYR23221 The Returned: Revenant (Restless Spirit, Lampads)

WYR23223 Eternal Servitude: Retainer (Manos, Toshiro, Yin, Ashigaru)

WYR23308 Altered Beasts: Chimera (Ferdinand Vogel, The Beast Within, The Scorpius)

WYR23310 The Ten Peaks: December (Blessed of December, Silent Ones, Hoarcats)

WYR23322 Support Staff: Augmented (Joss, Mobile Toolkit, Medical Automatons)

WYR23420  A Light in the Dark: Swampfiend (Adze and Will O' the Wisps)

WYR23423 The Howling: Fae (Bultungin and Rougarou)

WYR23430 Familiar Faces: Mimic (Doppelgangers and Changelings)

WYR23503 Hired Killers: Mercenary (Bishop, Desperate Mecenaries)

WYR23523 A Hard Day's Work: Outcasts Versatile (Johan Creedy and Prospectors)

WYR23613 Bayou Engineering: Foundry/Tricksy (Sparks LeBlanc, Mechanized Porchop and Survivors)

WYR23615 Off the Top Rope: Infamous (Mancha Roja and Wrastlers)

WYR23627 See Ya Later: Swampfiend (McTavish and Gators)

WYR23716 Ancient Evil: Oni (Ama no Zaku and Obsidian Oni)

Also, creative taxidermy is the same (though I suspect it doesn't have the story encounter included).

My point was that if your explanation for extremely unlikely situations in games is "Doppelgangers did it" or "it was all a dream" or "it's a what-if scenario" or whatever, then taking out dead models for fluff reasons seems weird since those same justifications work just as well for dead characters.

Heck, we even have Amelia Bathory (and other similar models) - Nicodem could be an alt model for her!

And this whole thing is very new - Perdita wasn't unplayable in official Wyrd tournaments while she was in a coma in the fluff.

I also said that oftentimes rules and story don't match. Let's look at other examples. In Star Wars, lightsabers can cut through anything, but not a single Star Wars game has you slicing through everything with impunity. And when Perdita was in a coma in the lore we didn't have six factions, much less seven with an eighth on the way. And she wasn't dead, or locked in a prison earthside, or locked in a magical prison, or missing entirely. And they're only banned by default in official Wyrd events, that TOs are banning them too is on them. The Dead Man's Hand characters are playable in casual play so it is not like you can't make use of them. Your resistance to this is strange.

I think that the idea that the very concepts of Collodi and Nico were too powerful for this game is very, very suspect. I also find it mildly insulting towards Wyrd to say that the testing of DMH models was naturally half-assed.

But fluff killing off models from the game is such a weird concept when the games really don't represent the fluff. I mean, it's highly unlikely that Wyrd will ever write a story where a spoon-armed Gremlin Toddler kills off Nekima or where two Johans are fighting one another or where Bete Noire plants explosives around Piglets or whatever.

Except there are doppelgangers and other things that can make themselves look how they want to in the lore. So mirror matches are actually supported in the lore. Sure, there are some.... oddities between gameplay and lore, but that's something that happens in any game.

I confess I was lazy, oblivious and optimistic and ordered the ME3 rulebook and cards somewhat about the release date. So I'm definitely not complaining that I have to wait.

    :)

But has anybody an idea or a guess when the book and the cards will be in Europe available again.

Some time after they get reprinted.

It's been said before, but I will say it again. The distributors underestimated the demand. This means that what Wyrd had made was not enough either, because they can't afford to have stock sitting around that isn't going to sell. So while they had more made than was ordered so that they'd be able to sell them on their store or begin filling some orders. I do believe Wyrd underestimated how big the edition change would be as well. This unfortunately has led to shortages, but Wyrd is doing what they can to get this fixed as quickly as possible. Wyrd has every incentive to do so, but the resources and external factors are not necessarily in their favor.

Well, except that there will almost certainly be more masters in M3E.  It wouldn't surprise me if ES were used as the vehicle.

Yes, when the new faction is officially released we will see six new masters. Bringing in six more dual faction masters would mean they'd have to also add two more masters. Six new masters is more manageable for a new release than 8.

If you don't mind MY bluntness, it's a stupid fluff injection brought about by a small group of fans intent on cramming THEIR story in. The far better alternative would be to NOT invalidate 3 of my 4 Neverborn masters, and keep the little RP tea party in special events only. If the game can handle the same unique models on both sides of the table, it can handle a battle featuring allegedly dead/imprisoned/missing masters. It's not a RPG anyways.

Not only are the DMH masters less balanced, they also won't be receiving any future development. Pretty crappy for losing a small online popularity contest run in an echo chamber. Hopefully they ruin your collection or favorite master next.

That 'stupid fluff injection' isn't brought about by players. It's brought about by Wyrd's writing team. The only place they're not allowed by default are at Wyrd events. AKA the events where the story impacts or is impacted.

I get what you're trying to say but

    1) Killing off Masters wasn't needed. They say that it's because of story reasons but you can still have absolutely idiotic combinations of models that make zero story sense. Also, many other games have characters die in the fluff yet stay in the game for "historical" scenarios. Heck, you couldn't play any historical games if you insisted that people should be alive in order to appear in a game. Almost no models were changed mechanically due to changes in story other than killing off a somewhat random set of characters.

(I can't in fact off-hand think of a single story-induced mechanical change but certainly there must be some?)

    2) Some keywords are very limiting and absolutely require the synergy but many are completely independent and in fact compete for resources. It's mostly the +1 Cost that makes cheap models unplayable OOK but there are already several expensive models that are beginning to look like staples in many lists with various Masters.

I own something like 30 painted Guild models yet cannot make a competitive force out of them. Tough luck. The same is basically true of my Ressers and my Arcanists though there I at least have one Master each which I can kinda sorta play in a competitive setting. Of course due to how things work they are a no-go for tournaments. My Neverborn were shrunk from four Masters to two.

Luckily I own almost the whole Gremlin faction so at least there I have options still.

But this new "airport" killed something like a 100 models from me. I could buy a ton more models to make stuff viable again but in a couple of years Wyrd might decide to kill off a couple more Masters so I really don't feel like it. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, and so on. Sticking to a single Faction from now on and I very much suggest this strategy to everyone else as well.

I'm not sure I understand what your complaint is. Dead Man's Hand exists so that you can still play the characters. It's only in official Wyrd events that they aren't accepted, and in tournaments it's up to the TO. They are playable for casual games. In other words they aren't completely removed from the game, which I hear other games have done when characters were removed from the story. The story of Malifaux is still ongoing, and these characters aren't completely non-existent any longer, so we could see them return (though unlikely).

I have a probably stupid question.
I ordered some boxes during the gen con sale, and this was my first purchase on Wyrd's store.
Here's my question : when the order will be treated and dispatched, will I receive a mail?

Of course I know it will take some time to process all orders, since Wyrd was obviously busy with being at gencon, and I guess there were more orders than usual done during the sale, so there's some backlog of orders to go through. I have no problem with the wait.
It's just to know what to expect.

Yes. As with the majority of online stores, you will be notified when your item has been processed.

Lynch's crew list feels like it's pretty locked in.

    Lynch

    Huggy

    Beckoner x2

    Tanen

    Gwen

    Illuminated x2

    Then maybe a couple upgrades.

If you're doing a killy strategy and scheme pool  switching graves in is useful.

They all have the old art. However, that does not mean anything. With a few exceptions all cards in the faction packs have the old art unless there are more cards then previously available. For example, Lucius, Marcus and Dreamer all have the old art and we know they are getting redone. This is because the Faction pack is there to allow you to use your old models in the new edition. And therefore the art on the cards look like the old models.

Except for master or character specific upgrades. They have art on them that might differ, if it does, it suggests new art which in turn suggests new sculpts.

August. But those dates are start dates.  They are a small company (less than 20 last I checked) and they work 10 hour days 4 days a week. They always get lots of orders. So it may take as long as 2 weeks to get caught up with all the orders. This isn't Amazon we are talking about here. Good news is usually everybody is working the warehouse after gencon to get things out the door asap.

This, and anything that delays shipping will make it take longer to get to you.

  14. From the Core rules under the faction description:

Originally established as a means to reinvigorate the long-dulled sense of adventure of its founder, the Explorer’s Society has since expanded to focus on unfurling the mysteries of Malifaux and beyond. These aristocrats, dark tourists, and pioneers venture into the unknown corners of this world to seek knowledge, discover new locations, and hunt big game. While their motivations are unclear, their recent push to amass rare artifacts is not

Tmod, thank you for that very in depth analysis. Never knew all that was involved. When I first started Malifaux, I saw a guy that had a Death Marshall special model called a Miss something. It was a good looking lady rather than a flaming skeleton dude. I can guess now where it came from!

So what makes Gencon more important for Wyrd than other huge events like LVO, NOVA open, Adept Con, etc? I have never been to any of these and know very little of them, other than people saying they want to go and play in the tournaments there, and hearing of them being platforms for new releases for game manufacturers.

Proximity is likely a large factor. Indy is a lot closer than Illinois and Nevada, and NOVA I think is focused more on the gaming side. They do have Volunteers that help organizing their tournaments during those events.

  16. 20 minutes ago, Occultist said:

This explanation assumes you are truthful about not knowing what GenCon is:

GenCon is a 50 year old gaming convention that is currently held in Indianapolis. It functions as a trade show, a gaming meetup, a tournament center, and basically anything else related to (mostly) tabletop gaming. its relevance to the game as a whole is that most game companies dedicate a lot of resources to their presence at GenCon, as it acts as a massive PR event and a huge boost to sales for the year, and Wyrd is no exception. Its relevance to distribution delays is that in order to sell at the convention, you need to ship the product there. This can cause a host of logistical issues as well as require normal ordering times to be drastically changed. Coupled with the already noted external shipping issues plaguing the gaming industry at large (thank you trade wars :() and you can start to piece together it's relation.

It's also of note that Wyrd is a small company and a majority (if not the entirety) of their staff goes to make sure they are able to properly manage their presence at the convention.
