  1. Hi All, Just a quick heads up that if anyone else is planning to come to this one, please get your entries in asap otherwise the organising commitee will pull Malifaux due to lack of interest which would be a shame.
  2. It's to keep it standardised across the systems. Malifaux is actually probably getting the best deal as the prize sizes are pretty much the same across the systems so it is the same prize wise as the bigger systems but with a much smaller pool of players. Plus we have to buy an all new Malifaux shield too. It's more for each club member to pay one price and then decide which system they want to play. And there are usually ways of getting free tickets, such as helping to provide scenery etc.
  3. The WPS club challenge is an annual club event being held this year at Maelstrom games. We have got around to including Malifaux in the list of systems for the first time this year! If there is a good take up, numbers can be increased quite easily. You dont need to be a member of a club to participate, nor be part of a team that is challenging across multiple systems. It is one of my favourite events of the year, due to the friendly atmosphere and good mix of gamers and well worth attending for that too. The prizes are good too The main link is here: http://warhammer.org.uk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=96949 but have copied out the top bit with most of the relevant info. The 2012 WPS Club Challenge will be held on the 26 and 27 May at Maelstrom games. Tickets costs £38 each and include your lunch for both days, but you will need to arrange your own accommodation and dinner. You can arrange to have your Dinner at Maelstrom for your convenience, and further details will be given on this by us/Maelstrom in due course. When purchasing your ticket, make sure you tell us your club in the additional information to us. If you are buying a ticket for someone else, make sure to clearly indicate this. Full information is in the entry and system packs, and all of that can be accessed here: http://www.the-wps.com/club-challenge-2012.html System numbers are currently: WFB: 30, 40K: 30, H/WM: 18, BB: 18, MFX: 12, FoW: 18 (We also have a small reserve of 14 we can use to increase our systems depending on how tickets are selling, which can take us to the maximum capacity of 140). Hope to see some folks there! And a BIG thanks to James for helping to put the pack together.
  4. I run a very profitable business councelling mentally scarred zombies and constructs...
  5. Is this an appropriate time to start a Neverborn are broken whine?
  6. Thanks guys for a great event. Had a lot of fun and had my first three proper games of malifaux! Thanks to my opponents Craig, Alan and James who were patient enough with me while I was slowly reading rules/cards all the time and playing quite slow!
  7. Some more gremlins: The twins:
  8. I started to read through all the posts but then gave up so thought I would post my thoughts on the OP starting post. Personally, I always thought that a tourney rewarded the three elements (IMO) of the gaming experience. The game itself (generalship etc), the painting side and the sports side. Each of these three are more important to different people when they attend a tourney. Some, like the OP, enjoy the gaming side more and therefore they commission people to paint their mini's as you generally can't take unpainted figs to an event. Or just do a perfectly acceptable basic paint job. For others, the painting side is more important and the gaming is more of a side bonus. For others it's all about the whole gaming social side and experience. Now, a lot of tournaments reward all three aspects with winner prizes (generalship), a best painted prize and a best sports prize. Now for me, the best painted prize is a prize for those gamers who enjoy the painting side more of the hobby and it is to reward their efforts. To them it is the main prize (they normally am sure want to win best general too but may take less tuned combo's etc because the models look better - I know I do!). Now, if the painting prize is generally intended to reward those who enjoy the painting side of the hobby more than anything, why allow commissioned mini's to be considered? I.e. to be won by someone who has not even attended the event and contributed to it's upkeep by paying the entry fee etc? (To me, that would be like someone turning up with a well painted set of figures and then getting a mate by phone or webcam to play the games for them as they are a better player to try and win best general too). If a best painted award for those most interested in the painting side is to be offered, I think limiting it to those people who turned up and with mini's they painted themselves is a basic first step?
  9. Wouldn't a Ganger achieve pretty much the same effect with Z? Mimic her WP 10 and the stitched GYL and go to town. Can also be obeyed to do it again?
  10. The first few Gremlins: Painting another Gremlin and the twins next.
  11. Basically, I love the painting side more than the gaming side, although I do like the gaming. So I was thinking about picking up another faction (currently have Neverborn) and as I am not too bothered about picking up the 'best' crews/models gaming wise, was wondering if people have noticed who are the least used masters out there? I.e. if I went to a tourney with this master, would people say 'Oh, I dont get to play against them very often'? Are there any masters out there that people just dont see very often? Locally I guess the least seen are Hoffman, Nicodem, Ramos but that could just be local...
  12. Just a simple dark red base, ink of peat brown then successive highlights for the back of the ganger. I usually game down in Seaham but have models will travel! Live over in Stocksfield. Wooden bases are the cast ones you can buy online from Antenociti’s Workshop
