@Myyrä It isn't a false analogy as your definition of what is creates an inconsistency in the rules and takes a paragraph in isolation rather than in context.

My problem with this your definition of Stat is that fate modifiers and built in suits aren't part of the action feature. They're simply something thats floating around.

If Stat was written in the same way as Range there wouldn't be any doubt, and I believe this is the correct interpretation.

"Any Action that requires a duel will have a Stat. It may have a Fate Modifier, which impacts the flip for that Action, and/or a suit, which is added to the models final duel total, and the number the model adds to the card it flips in the duel (in this case, 5)."

All I've done here is flip the description of Stat number  and fate modifier/suit and now the paragraph is consistent with the rest of the description of the makeup of an action.

Reading the Stat paragraph in isolation doesn't make sense when it's inconsistent with the other paragraphs describing an action.

The very fact that you have to demonstrate a different wording indicates that the meaning of the current wording is clear and needs no speculation to ascertain its meaning. One can equally speculate that the very presence of different wording implies that the intention was to differentiate its behavior from other characteristics, and this speculation would be no less valid than your speculation that the current wording was unintentional.

Without further clarification, I would put forward that using the wording as it is written is the more reasonable path.

  2. The problem isn't that they can't fight. The problem is that they're basically worthless on their own. Pandora already has an issue with the enemy not clumping up, and sure, Sorrows can work well when they're nicely positioned to support her, and that's the problem. You need stuff that can work elsewhere, independently and more flexibly - not things that aggravate her weakness. Putting Barbaros in the mix compounds the problem further.

  3. Unfortunately, that's about all he has going for him, since he got the short end of the stick as Effigies go.

The closest comparison is the Shadow Effiy, who gives a similar one-use consumable condition that reacts to an enemy attack. In that case, he gives the enemy a negative flip on the attack. Which I have found to be much, much stronger. It lets you react to the first attack that comes at your Master, whereas the Mysterious buff involves taking the first attack in the face, and then hoping the free movement will position you to escape further harm coming your way.

Even as the worst of the Effigies, he's still a solid minion for 4 SS, and gives a good option to Neverborn, since their other 4 SS minions tend to be fragile but speedy guys. So he can be a viable with certain scheme set ups. But I often play Collodi, and its awfully hard to come up with a reason to bring him when compared to his much more capable Effigy brothers. I think I've tried him out 2 or 3 times, and never been particular impressed by his performance overall.

You are severely miscalculating the potential and effect of Mysterious. The push effect does so much more than Shadow's ability in most cases, for one. Shadow's ability can only affect a single AP from a single model, if it even succeeds, whereas pushing in reaction to a charge, or even the first attack of an already engaged model cancels at least one, if not more of the enemy's APs. If the leader is engaged by multiple models from the previous turn, and especially if said leader has a melee range of 3, pushing it might result in the effective loss of 3+ enemy APs, if you're then out of their range, but they're still in yours. It breaks charges, flurries, second attack triggers and can cause the loss of melee expert AP, among other things.

Outside of simply cancelling enemy AP in combat, the condition can be used simply to add 3" to the leader's movement, to enable a charge or put them in range, or it can be used to slide out of sight or into cover you couldn't otherwise reach, again potentially cancelling multiple enemy AP.

If you can't think of how 3" of reactive movement can be used to great effect, you're really not thinking hard enough. I certainly wouldn't trade our effigy for any other.

  4. I saw the 1e full page art of Nekima and knew I wanted her in my crew, so shopped around around for the best Master to go with her - I ended up with Zoraida.

Come 2e, I wasn't impressed by the changes to Z, so shopped around for a better choice, while keeping a spot for Nekima in the crew still, and decided on Pandora. Have not regretted it :)

  5. And if it is possible to have a forced movement push' date=' without the push falling into one of the two categories on the page 35, the opponent still would be able to choose the path the model takes, right? (The fact that you force him to move doesn't mean you gain control over his model.) Because there's nothing forcing the push to be in a straight line, unless it is a directly-away movement.[/quote']

I'd assume that the controller of the effect gets to determine everything about it, barring additional restrictions (eg. pg 35) that the effect may be subject to. I'm not even sure that pg 35 'allows' the opponent to determine the push. From what I can tell, when pg 35 applies, the rules determine the push, with choices between equally legal conditions determined by the controller of the effect.

  6. Nice report, Zoraida can be a tough one to deal with, especially when she is playing in the Doll house.

On the Proxy situation. While being obeyed, Nino is not a friendly model to your crew. Because of this, he would no longer benefit from the +2 WP from the Proxy. Its rough, you have to be careful with the proxy when Zorry is around.

The Obeying player would also get to make and cheat Nino's flip for the WP duel, I believe.

  7. .Edit: I'm trying to grow the tots quickly to young and matures. Just to have a field of huge models. I know its not always good, I just wanna be able to field my 3 mature nephilims. :)

Could be problematic, as Mature Nephilim are Rare 2. Also, Blood Sense from BBS and Nekima will not work together.
