  1. I've been playing McMourning for probably 16 months now and have always ended up butchering 1 or 2 of my own models; 1 for when we only had Flesh Construct, 2 now that we have Rogue Necromancy, however it depends on what my opponent is running, if they run a crew that drops corpses I may only slaughter 1 canine for parts just to get the machine running.
  2. I always take 1-2 crooked men depending on the size of the game I'm playing with my McMourning crew.
  3. And for only 1 more soulstone in cost, by far the superior choice. Get 2 more wounds, Hard to Wound 1, and that nice lure spell.
  4. You're also ignoring one of McMourning's strengths with this, start with some cheap stuff to butcher up to summon big things at the insanely cheap cost. Like getting a rogue necromancy out of a canine remains and a chihuahua for example. You may just be wanting to throw expensive stuff on the table though like molly who doesn't fit with McMourning in my opinion, Rafkin is great though. Guild Autopsies are better served with Nicodem who can buff their combat stat and actually make them effective before they get tore up and you lose out on precious corpses that are needed since they have the "too far gone" rule. Go ahead and try running it, good luck.
  5. Yea I haven't played a brawl yet myself, they haven't appealed to me at all but in my area we're doing a 2v2 team tournament with 20ss a person this next month that I'm excited for. We've been playing the game for probably 14 or so months here and we generally like the 20-35 range.
  6. Nice to see that it's only part and a summonable monster and not his actual avatar.
  7. From my experience I feel that the game is fairly well balanced, just some crews are slightly better at up front damage than say ones that require more of a combo to pull things off. Some crews might not be as good at a few scenarios but you can make that up by completing strategies.
  8. I as well have been playing it that way, I assume that it is part of the cost and if it fails those body parts are gone. I look at it as a botched experiment, you can't always re-use stuff if something went horribly wrong. Perhaps Ratty will let us know, until then I will keep playing it the way of losing the body parts on the failed cast until I hear otherwise.
  9. The canine remains have helped me kill lilith in 2 of the 3 games I've played against her crew, they are a nice way to bring her down a peg. I've used the autopsies a few times and they are kind of hit and miss, they do offer great ranged support but they are easy to wound, which even with 6 wounds, can be killed like they're nothing since they have the low zombie defense. I used them to best success with 2 belles luring targets into range then mowing them down with their fire and shafted markers from crooked men. I'm not sure if I'm sold on them yet since they don't drop corpse counters, however I haven't played them against too many living models and haven't played them against any guardsmen. You may not be a fan of the belles, I know that I wasn't at first, but you will realize they are a huge utility to your McM crew with that 18" Lure, they also have 8 wounds and hard to wound so they have some staying power. Bete is plenty of hard hitting on her own provided you don't let her die. I generally run 2 bells, 4 dogs, 2 crooked men, bete, zombie chihuahua in a 35ss game with Flesh Constructs and Rogue Necromancy to summon. When people see how much damage she puts out, some might try to play around her or hold back a bit, afraid of her popping in, which is enough to give you an edge.
  10. Here's the best I can answer from my experience with McMourning for the 12 or so odd months that I've owned him. His crew is the only one I have I just have not grown tired of playing it. 1. Yes he can run without dogs but it is hamstringing him in my opinion. He requires cheap easy to kill minions on the table at the start to turn into the bigger guys like Flesh Constructs and the Rogue Necromancy. That's where the power of his crew lies, getting out the really expensive models that are 7 and 10 soulstones for around 2-3 soulstones of parts. 2. The Rogue Necromancy isn't essential but it helps a lot, in my experience it is the entire house of murder and its foundation. Flesh Constructs can get work done for you but when you get too many out it taxes the hand of cards you have to make them not slow. I definitely remember my games being harder to win without the Necromancy but they were definitely winnable. To add into question #1, I personally am not a fan of Sebastian. I do use him on occasion but I prefer using his soulstones to purchase Rotten Belles or Crooked Men. The Belles provide a lot of gap closing utility that the McMourning crew needs since it lacks range attack power that other crews have. However on the other end it is fun to use a Nurse to dope up 2 dogs and activate them with Sebastian through his companion skill and wipe a model off of the table.
  11. Now after learning all of the changes since I played last I generally in 35ss will have a 7-8ss cache with McM and use one of those for a body part. I'll use chihuahua to wracked in pain a dog and then give the body part to the doc, then McM will wracked the chihuahua and hopefully hit the free melee trigger and finish it off, then turn and finish off the other dog with another melee attack and summon the Rogue Necromancy if hand allows while still having the 1 body part extra McM needs to be fast if he doesn't hit the trigger on wracked on the chihuahua. My favorite 35ss list is: McMourning Chihuahua 4x Dogs 2x Belles 2x Crooked Man Bete Noire That leaves me with a 7ss cache and I use one of those for a body part counter so I'll have 6ss to use in the game. Packs a lot of punch and has some tricks to do, if I can't pull off a turn 1 Rogue Necromancy or Flesh Construct I won't bother butchering up the totem and a dog and just advance them up the field to do it on a later turn.
  12. Here's my rogue necromancy I built a few weeks ago when I looked up the July releases and saw it wasn't on there and now that August releases are up I'm glad I'm working on one. I still have a lot of work to do on the model, waiting on the 50mm graveyard base to arrive to finish it off. The only parts on it that are more or less done are the bloody rib parts and the like. Still need to figure on how I'll blend that into the brown and then finish out the brown with some different shades. I'm not sure I'm sold on the work on the tail and the middle head that's supposed to be posing as the razorscale rattler head. Either way it should be done in a few days time.
  13. I'd pay $15 for her, provided she is unpainted I like painting my own models and don't feel like stripping paint off a model.
  14. Today I ran this for a 35ss game. McM Chihuahua 4x Canine Remains 2x Rotten Belle 2x Crooked Man Bete Things I will summon: Rogue Necromancy, Flesh Constructs It was pretty fun for the amount of time played but had to cut game short unfortunately so wasn't able to really get into the good part of the match.
