  1. Executioner! He's a fat guy with claws who heals himself every time he kills something (and has slow to die!). He is in probably 90% of my Guild crews. It's also worth considering a peacekeeper, Abuela, Lucius and a couple of Austringers. The good thing about Guild is that you can mix and match really easily. Because of that I'd recommend picking up Lady J and Sonnia too, that'll allow you to customise your crew a lot for strats without having to spend a fortune.
  2. Scoring is underway with Jake taking an early lead (I'll put a league table up each week starting with week 2). I'm playing Bennett next week so should be able to rack up some good points although, thanks to the idiot version of keeping it real, I won't be using the master I was planning on taking to the GT
  3. Another cracking episode and that terrain looks awesome, I'll be ordering me some of that!
  4. Good lord, you've started work on them quick! Check out Stern's painting log in the miniature showcase, his basing is amazing and might give you a few ideas.
  5. I've updated the first post with the final achievement list and points values. Because they took way longer than I thought to allocate, I've not finished my pretty rules pack yet but that list is pretty much everything you need. The rules pack will just add the usual "play fair, don't be a dick" stuff and I'll try and finish that tonight. I'm going to be using a different crew each week for the league so if anyone wants to play against a particular crew, let me know and I'll see what I can do.
  6. She's not out yet and I didn't get her on pre-release so I don't have her yet. I'll be getting her as soon as she's out.
  7. Cheers, I had a lot of help from Sam and Aidan (Cunning Stunt) putting them together. There are no faction or master restrictions so you can use as many as you want/need to. I'm happy to lend you want you need.
  8. First post updated with provisional achievement list.
  9. Count me in, I'll try and get a few down from York too.
  10. The rules pack is pretty much done, it just needs tarting up a bit. I'll be doing that in the morning and putting it on the Garrison forum (I'll put a link here too). I'll DM you my email address for the faction/crew discussion.
  11. In terms of learning the basics of the gae, I'd recommend starting out with Zoraida. A combination of the Zoraida box, Kade and the Stitched Together from the Chompy box is a good starting point. They are the less complicated of the options you have available (although the Stitched did get errated so you'll need to read that document too). For learning the game I'd recommend seeing if you have a local henchman that can help you learn.
  12. I should be able to make it to this, depends how expensive the GT gets.
  13. I will be running an achievement league at York Garrison in York between the 3rd and 31st of October. This will run during normal club sessions which are Wednesday nights and the 2nd Saturday of the month (in this case, the 13th). An achievement league is different to a normal league as it rewards participation rather than game results. There is a list of achievements with a points value next to each one (points to be added later today) and every time you manage an achievement, you get the corresponding number of points. Achievements are; Unlimited points Joining in: Play a game. (2 points) Ruining hobbies: Win a game. (1 point) Who are you?: Play against a new opponent. (2 points) Slave trade: Play with a new master. (2 points) Assassination: Kill the opposing master. (1 point) Limited points Elland Road style: Play a brawl (this can include a doubles game). (1 point) Billy no mates: Play a zero soulstone scrap. (1 point) Aidan’s mum: Play a game of Hardcore. (1 point) Seasonal slaughter: Play in a Halloween themed story encounter. (1 point) Super scheming: Play your master's unique scheme. (1 point) It’s good to share: Play a shared strategy. (1 point) Tree hugger: Play a game with special terrain or a special event. (1 point) Honestly, you only need a few models: Use only the contents of a crew starter box in a game. (1 point) I thought this film was supposed to be good?: Successfully manifest an avatar. (1 point). The Hobbyist: Play a game of at least 35SS using only fully painted and based models. (5 points) The Fellowship of the Brush: Use 10 different painted models during the league. (5 points) Return of the Paint: Use 5 painted models that were unpainted at the start of the league. (5 points) I can see my house from here: Donate at least 3 Malifaux appropriate bits of scenery to the club. (5 point) Attention to detail: Use homemade counters/markers/templates during a game. (2 points) Naval Engagement: Use a fluffy list e.g. Nephilim only with Lilith. (2 points) High scorer: Score 8 vp. (1 point) I’m just that good: Win a game by 4 VP of more. (1 point) If you want a job doing right: Kill the opposing master with your master. (2 points) Where’d you go?: End the game with the opponent having no models remaining on the board. (2 points) We’re alive!: End the game without the opponent killing any of your models. (5 points) "I've reached retirement!": Have a desperate mercenary survive until the end of turn 6. ( point) "Et Tu Brute": Have an enemy minion kill the enemy master. (10 points) Making friends: End the game with more models than you started with. (5 points) “Go to bed without your tea!”: Prevent your opponent getting any VPs. (2 points) One hand tied: Win without using any soulstones. (5 points) Wouldn’t have managed it anyway: Give up a scheme to claim 2 soulstones. (1 point) The OJ Initiative: Complete Frame for Murder after announcing it. (2 points) Mollifaux: Kill the Enemy Master by the end of Turn 2. (2 points) Poundland gaming: Play a game using no minion worth more than 5 SS. (2 points) Only the best: Play a game using no minion worth less than 6 SS. (2 points) Everybody is special: Use 5 or more Unique minions over the course of the league. (1 point) Attack of the clones: Never use a unique minion. (2 points) Confident player: Allow your opponent to select one of your schemes. (2 points) Maybe I should go back to warhammer: Take 10 or more models in a single game. (2 points) 3 days until retirement: Kill an enemy model with your last activation of the game. (2 points) The things I'll do for points: Play a game dressed as a member of your crew (players fielding terror tots need not apply). (10 points) Size doesn’t matter: Kill 3 enemy models with your totem over the course of the league. (5 points) I pity the fool: Kill the enemy master with a totem, using either a melee strike or melee spell. (10 points) Energiser bunny: Play at least 1 game against a league member every week the league is running. (5 points) I’m just that good: Win a 0 soulstone scrap without using any soulstones. (10 points) All or nothing: Table your opponent without losing a model. (5 points) Up close and personal: Win a game without using any ranged attacks or spells. (5 points) “Missed it by THAT much!”: Lose a game that ends with a VP difference of 1. (2 points) I’ll try anything: Use all of the general schemes. (5 points) Blaze of glory: Win a game and have a single model left alive. (2 points) Putting it about: Play against 3 different opponents. (5 points) A change is as good as a rest: Swap crews with your opponent after strategy and crew selection but before schemes are announced. This is agreed before the game and, following a card flip, occurs if the card is a ram or tome. (5 points) Keeping it real: If a unique minion dies in game flip a card if it’s a black joker, you can’t use them for the remainder of the league Must announce this before playing 1st league game* (2 points) Keeping it real (extreme edition): If a unique minion or master dies in game flip a card if it’s a black joker you can’t use them again this league Must announce this before playing 1st league game* (5 points) Keeping it real (idiot edition): If a unique minion or master dies in game don’t use them again this league Must announce this before playing 1st league game, no card flip required - dead means dead. (10 points) This is designed to be a fun, rather than uber-competitive league and is meant to help newer players prepare for the upcoming UK GT (hence the fancy dress element!). Entry is £3 with the winner getting a starter box of their choice. I'll add other prizes too depending on the number of entrants. There are no faction or master restrictions, you can use as many or as few models as you like. Further details (entry fee, full rules pack, etc) will be up later today.
  14. +1 for ronin and youn nephs. I'd recommend a convict gunslinger as a good buy too and it can be used with either crew. I think you've made good starter choice, they're both fairly uncomplicated but have options to expand that can make the a bit more that way. The Viks are also good because they're mercs so you can use most of their crew in other crews too.
  15. Another awesome idea from the mind of Malifaux Jesus
  16. I'll keep working on them but don't think it's gonna happen. Wonder if I can convince the Malifools instead . . . . .
  17. Welcome! If you find yourself anywhere near York, give me a shout
  18. As far as I know there'll be a decent sized group from York, suspect I'll be the only showgirl though ---------- Post added at 12:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:32 PM ---------- I'll have to shave my beard off so no-one mistakes me for Aiden's mum!
  19. Not sure how I missed this! I'll be arranging a league at Garrison in a couple of weeks, that's a great way to get games in against different opponents. I'll post stuff on the Garrison forum once I've worked out the details.
  20. Somer as a starter isn't too bad but can be pricey. You can start with Ophelia and add bits to her box (slop haulers and bayou gremlins). In a Somer crew you'd probably want at least some kin anyway so it's a good way to start with them without it being too pricey. You can then just add the Somer box and some totems later on too pad it out to a full Somer crew.
  21. Timings will definitely be looked at before the next one!
