  1. Great, thanks for the link CRC, I did look but didnt see that thread. Good news indeed! Ramos can actually be somewhat competitive! Yay
  2. Ok, I decided that on balance, I wont be attending this. With not being able to take part in game 3, it wont be fair to me or anyone else for me to ditch the 3rd game...also, i still havent been able to pick up any of the models I will need for the larger games...and with time and money running out, will have to give it a miss. Enjoy the event all, and if I dont see you before at another tournament, see you at the next GT event!
  3. Hi all, Just a quick note to say I should hopefully have a a great deal more info on this by the end of the month, negotiations still in progress and draft itinerary being put together...but just a couple of things you might be interested to know... 1. Hope to have some interesting news from Wyrd shortly regarding support from them for us European lot making the effort to go over to US for this as a group....watch this space 2. I am hoping that, further to negotiations with Battlefoam and Wyrd, a couple of those taking part in this delegation will hopefully (subject to this being agreed) win a Wyrd/Battlefoam bag just for coming along.. So those are just a couple of potential highlights for those coming along for this trip to the worlds biggest gaming convention and the most sought after tournament of the annual internation calendar (after Neverata's GT ofcourse :adore: lol) I will be posting here full information in due course... Finally, if your name isnt on the first post of this thread, and you want to come along and join in this outing, please PM me, or post here to let me know and I will add you on the list. Many thanks Ash
  4. My apologies, named the wrong tournament. But yeah he did really well with them, so there must be some tricks like this that he pulled to help him seal victory against some of the extremely tricky crews out there...
  5. Exactly what Sephoria said. The description under the "Swarm Together" seems to refer to the action rather than the effect, so if that is the case then aslong as it is a new spider not originally in the swarm then they should be able to take the (1) action to form a new swarm. RM would be appreciated
  6. The beauty of the tactic though is that with a 4th spider, you dont even need to combat mechanic one of the original 3, thats just a bonus if you have a spare 2+ of Crows in hand to get the spell off (very low casting cost!) As for Brass Arachnid, it takes 1 of 5 cards to pull off, so simply holding on to a card in the first turn or 2 or even third turn, to give you the card you need to pull it off....thats where Surge comes in to increase the likelyhood of getting the card you need for the Reactivate...and if you have both Ramos and Kaeris in the crew, who both have Surge, its more chances of card cycling.... Zee did brilliantly in the Master of Malifaux tournament at GenCon this year with Ramos, coming 3rd I think it was, otu of about 50 odd players, and using the Brass Arachnid...it may be harder to use, but played well the benefits are much greater!
  7. Be great to have you on board! Check out the thread in this forum and see what you think. This is still being planned and put together, but hoping to have some direct buy in from Wyrd if possible... fingers crossed!
  8. Jo, I want to attend but I definitely wont be able to make the third game on the first day, due to family commitments and will have to travel to London on the Saturday afternoon and back to Mansfield Sunday morning! So unless I have an amazing 4 other games compared to everyone else's 5 games, I dont think I will be winning this one! haha The only issue though is that someone else who pairs against me wont get to play their third game, so I might actually mess up someone else's day by them missing out on playing a brawl (though they wont have to play me so will score max points, possibly skewing the results?) Thought id mention it here, as it might not be fair for others for me to take part and have to give someone else an auto win on game 3. If others are happy for me to attend anyway then that's great, would love to get some games in and see everyone again, and experience your awesome event!
  9. hmm, this is certainly off topic! lol I think it's good neverata is facilitating both ranked and non-ranked GTs...its good to provide as many people in the community with what they seek without alienating people. You cant ask for more than what is already being organised, and if you have suggestions, its an open forum, so please post. I for one am trying to appeal to the international's amongst us to put together the trip to GenCon next year, which I am sure will be a mix of competitive players wanting to test their wits against the best US has to offer, but also the fun gamers that just want to spend a few days experiencing GenCon and meeting like-minded gamers. Roll on the good times and tournaments next year and thanks to everyone who is helping to make these events and the community stronger, be they tournament organisers, Henchmen or attendees at these events. :tea:
  10. Ah so that was you Talos, awesome, finally have a face to the forum name now. Yeah good game thanks. Zoraida and Collodi are always a tough pair to content with, the terrain being challenging for both of us to work with. Hopefully see you at another tournament soon, maybe the GT in Mansfield
  11. Anyone with strong Arachnophobia, that thing is just creepy, way too spider like!! Atleast the SPAs dont really look spidery. As for the list, Kaeris herself would be worth taking in place of the Gunsmith if you decide to go with any Fire Gamin. One thing to bear in mind with Ramos is the lack of Significant models, he has some (Gunsmith is a sound option) but his mainstay of SPAs are unfortunately insignificant, unless they form the SPAswarm.. Options to bear in mind (esp if you decide to take Kaeris) are 1. the Student of Conflict in Strategies that involve interacting with things, to give your spiders significant for the turn (and also give Kaeris or Ramos fast!) and 2. the Brass Arachnid for the ability to give one of your models reactivate (the SPAswarm with reactive, by scattering and reassembling again can get a comined total of 13 attacks in a single turn!!!)
  12. Thanks for your contribution Sephoria. I think that is how it would work. Any more comments to agree, or any rulings on this?
  13. Whoever wins this though, has to go to GenCon next year to compete in the Master of Malifaux tournament! The best of UK taking on the best US has to offer. Good thing Im organising and going on the UK delegation to GenCon! haha
  14. A couple of things not mentioned here yet: 1, if you like Arcansists but like versatility, then Marcus is a good option, as he can hire any model with the Beast characteristic in the game..so he can pick and choose his models from other factions. 2, if playing Colette, a key element of her gameplay you need to master is activation order for the first 1 or 2 activations....Cassandra and Coryphee Duet are your key models for all your movement shennanigans...Colette may do most of the switchnig, but without those 2 models your tactical options will be very limited. If an opponent has the opportunity to attack one of them this turn and you have an activation first, you need to activate them to ensure they are either out of danger, or able to activate their defensive abilities (Use Soulstone/Souther Charm) The biggest thing though for this crew is thinking a turn ahead. You need to know where your models are going to be relative to your opponents next turn, otherwise, if you leave something in danger of being attacked, and you dont win the initiative, you could seriously suffer for it!...plan ahead, and make sure your movement tricks keeps you dictating the game and a step ahead of your opponent. If you need specific tactical ideas, there is the Malifaux Wiki, and both myself and Mr Nybbles have posted quite detailed tactical breakdowns on this forum. You can also ask questions at any time. Good luck!
  15. Ok so a question for you...This tactc came into my head yesterday whilst trying out Ramos for the first time.... I have a SPA Swarm, and attack with it for its 2 Melee Master attacks at a enemy model, I then (1) scatter, to seperate into 3 spiders. Q, If I then Combat Mechanic one of them to turn it into scrap (healing another), then create a new spider using the scrap, can that spider now take the (1) action to form a new SPA Swarm with the other 2 still there? The rule for the scatter says the spiders cant reform into the swarm on the same turn, but the spider activating the (1) action to create the swarm is a new spider, and therefore is not subject to the limitation to not being able to create a new swarm. The new Swarm could obviously not break down again ( unless you then give the Swarm Reactivate and do all this shennagan again!) It seems a great way of making Ramos' crew a bit more competitive... So does the above tactic work? I like the idea of having a swarm attack, scatter for 3 more latch on's/attacks, then create a new swarm with some of those models, attack again then re-activate from the Brass Arachnid, attack again, scatter and some more attacks!!!
  16. um, Doubles, there are are far better Paired Master than Dreamer and Lilith!! and just wait for the Dynamic Duo to rock up and take on all! haha
  17. hmm I might give this a shot...just need a ticket and a team mate!..
  18. Craig, it's fine, a few of us UK lot will be going to the US Masters of Malifaux event next year so we can beat them in person!! lol So it will be the GT UK winner v the US Masters UK winner!!
  19. Robin are broken...and so are night terrors!! 3ss is just waaay too cheap!
  20. I am intrigued..seems I have missed a lot of discussion over the last week or 2! I'm not sure whether this is too early or not but I for one like the opportunity to play in a competitive environment just to be able to improve my game further and see what other masters are capable of! But whatever the level of competitive environment, if I'm not having fun, I won't bother with it as it is just a game and having fun comes first.
  21. Thanks to all my opponents for some good challenging games. Thanks Dave and Carl for hosting it! Bring on the next one :-)
  22. Tournament scene is great. 1.Get to play against crews dont normally play against 2.Get to play against new players 3.Get to play and meet up with friends made at previous tournaments that dont play in my local gaming group and generally immmerse myself in the Malifaux community, rather than the mixed scene at my local gaming club 4.Helps improve my game and provides me with challenging opponent 5.The chance to win prizes and prestige..
  23. Milton Keynes, England. No banned rules or house rules. Infact, we have regular Pandora, Hamelin, Dreamer and JD use at our club, inc 6 Alp Bomb spam lol. We dont mind as it improves our game to play against what is considered the most powerful lists. Honestly, I dont see the need to ban things. Everything can be beaten (I havent lost to Alp Bomb, usually once it deploys it dies rapidly!). The only thing I would ever consider house ruling against is Creepy Structure when Hamelin is playing...infinite use of the structure thanks to rats interacting with it and dying or gaining soulstones is just wrong!
  24. Any thoughts on how many SS worth of crews this will be? Would have to work out how the duo divvy's up the SS pool to buy their half of the Brawl....
  25. That's true! The board was a headache for my crew and colliding was doing all sorts of whacky movement stuff I hadn't seen before. It's playing against things you haven't seen before that can slow things down a fair amount
