Maybe I should look it backwards...what Archanist models could I get for Ramos that C. Hoffman would use too....
P.S. Do Steampunk Arachnid Swarms come with bases to build them as individual models or a Swarm?

well, gaurdian is a good model, especialy since you could give it a +2 def and stuff, but i beleive ramos doesn't need it, when he is in his avatar, he is tough enough. and hunter, well, i don't think he is that good for a 7point model in a ramos crew.
but i want to see them brawl together hoffman takes the toolkit and ramos the bras arachnid, toolkit gives ramos and bras arachnid a tome, and youre ready to go

Hmm...Guardian, Hunter, and Watcher point to Ramos borrowing Hoffman's designs / redesigns. Hoffman can Assimilate anything Ramos has / brings too. He can also have his machines take blow for him.
There is also the irony that Hoffman can hire Ramos into a Guild crew but Ramos can't hire Hoffman into an Arcanist crew. Who is the subordinate there?

acctually, hoffman is a true arcanist in his heart, he just doesn't realise this.
hoffman can hire ramos because hoffman was made after ramos, so he got more special rules.

This is one of those situation that the game rules don't make sense in comparison to reality, but needs to for simplicity sake. You only take damage for entering the fire pillars, nothing for activating it. So in theory your opponent can stay there use it for cover to retaliate with no penalty.
is it only entering? or moving through?
but even so, still a nice tactic.
what list would you use in a fire and ice combo?

Just to chime in: which of these two are better suited to run the mechanical rider?
Or should I use Leveticus istead of Ramos/Hoffman if I like to run a mechanical rider?

euhm, levi can use him better in his avatar. but ramos and hoff could use the mech rider as a beatstick, but there are better constructs they can use,

I tried a game with Kaeris and Jonah and didn't get very far trying to get Johan to knock someone threw fire. It was vs a Perdita crew so Jonah didn't get close enough. The biggest flaw in that is the you need to place the Fire pillars behind the target and then charge (threat range 9) with Johan. But you need to start within range of most ranged lists.
But if you play a fire and ice list, you can use Kaeris to drop fire pillars at max range then move Snowstorm up and pull the enemy crew forward 2 inches. Best part - 6 damage, no resist flip, no line of sight, longer range.
but you have to make sure that kaeris drops the flame walls 1" from enemy models, but 1 question, if you let someone stop inside a flame wall, he gets the damage, but what about if he activates inside 1, he gets 3 damage again? would be funny or throw the back and forth in the flame wall. 2" forward, 2" back, with some luck 1 model has 2times 6 damage,
I'm game to try this but 19ss to try this little combo,, is heavy.

Thanks for the comments on the Austringer... I hadn't thought of doing a Guild Guard Captain as I haven't really liked using them so far...
I'm still undecided on the Guild Hounds... I've gone off the Rats idea but I'll have to see how I can figure it out to either convert the canine remains or make some rotten guild hounds.

Irrelevent to the point though. Casting arcing screen doesn't "get around" his lack of Df, Seph. It gives him 4. 4 is still terrible.
Anyway, this isnt a Ramos balance thread. Pick Ramos and wait for his avatar, he's way cooler than Hoffman
true, but 4 is way better than his tiny 2 and if you are fighting agains a melee based crew.

Having played Ramos a lot I'll agree with CalmDown (how often do you hear me say that).That being said I fear people are still overestimating aRamos. aRamos vs Hoffman feels like it'll be about an even power level to me. Although Ramos is definitely MUCH cooler.
not overestimating, but he is one of the best boosts. aRamos vs hoffman is kinda equal, because of hoffman his protection bubble, but thats the "ooh i'm scared i'm going to put up a defence" naah, i like ramos, he is the cool old man, he doesn't need the big defence bubble to become strong

It'd be nice if Kaeris had fire mirror to go along with 'Tina's ice mirror. I have a feeling that anything that I'd want to do with having Kaeris teamed up with 'Tina would work far better with just 'Tina and her forces.
well to start, why that much fire and ice gamin? and like they said, your lists is wrong
i would use 1 ice gamin, as a buff for kaeris and raspy (kaeris next to raspy gives her frozen heart) and defence. 1 fire gamin as an extra fire token dealer, 1 or 2 gunsmiths, because they are just superb. and an extra beatstick.

Right now Hoffman is better.
Once the Avatars are available, Ramos without a doubt.
The major differences right now are, that Hoffman has large amounts of synergy with his crew but generally requires bunching up; Ramos is more of a classic nuker/summoner and is generally just a bit crap (mostly cos he's missing 2-3ss and a couple of points of Df).
Also, Ramos is just plain cooler than Hoffman. Hoffman is a bit of a wimp that only uses is powers when he's on the verge of crying like a little girl, Ramos is hardcore and everyone is scared of him.

but the missing points of defence can be done with a totem casting arcing screen

What do you guys field Kaeris with at 30ss if you take everything in the box?
Another Gunsmith? Large Arachnid or a Soulstone miner? MORE Fire Gamins?
LSA or SSminer, i never tried the union miner, but he has a lot of love from some people here

also their are some changes to Philosophy of Uncertainty, the wording has been changed to: AR: Sacrifice this model. Kill target non-leader model. This spell may be cast once per crew per turn.

As a construct Ryle would still be immune to morale duels. Roar is a morale duel...
immune to it, but roar is a spell, and losing it counts AS losing a morale duel, so roar isn't a moral duel itself right?
counting as losing one, or "is a moral duel" are 2 different things i think

No, the box opens removes immunities to WP duels. Ryle is not immune to WP duels, he is immune to abilities that cause Wp duels. So while the box opens works on Rule, it doesn't negate Breach Psychosis.
On a side note, Insidious' Neverborn Whispers does negate Breach Psychosis because it removes any immunities involving WP duels

Is it possible to summon a Rogue Necromancy if I have 2 Crooligans in play? Or will it fail becuase I would go over my speical forces (horror) limit? I know it would be that way for a rare model but I am not sure with SF...
if you have only nico, no, if you have nico with molly, yes

Everything I've ever seen indicates that, markers or terrain, all things that place the 2 50mm bases count them as separate (and therefore you could take damage twice).

I'd say 3-4 fire gamins and, if you don't have problems with proxies, Iggy. Works well for me if you try to maximise the potential of the burning tokens and fire abilities
the only thing about iggy is that his ranged attack doesn't give buring tokens.
but even so, use pacify, walk up the board and use playing with matches.
but I'm not seeing how good iggy is in a kaeris crew
