  1. Yeah, but I sent him along already, so we don't have one of those. He's really massive- about two feet tall. It was tricky to fill up all of those huge areas.
  2. The Atlantic Coast Charity Cup is coming up, and I got the chance to paint the official scheme for their tournament mini. Well, here he is.
  3. @Vin- He arrived in fine shape. I don't think that the resin really degrades over time, so the only worry is that someone might have broken it (or tried to mod it and failed). Honestly, I wonder if people aren't forging these, but I have no way of knowing. This one looked just like the Armorcast minis I've seen before. @Viuk- I paint a lot of diverse stuff, and most of it is on commission, so it'd be a massive thread. I always find those massive threads kind of unmanageable. Maybe that's just me. Also, I don't really feel like they all fit together, what with all the cake toppers I do, competition projects and large forces. That's probably just my hangup though.
  4. So, this is the largest mini that I've painted. At least that I've completed- and that includes minis that weren't originally meant to be minis like some of those dragons I got from the Asian gift store. Yep, Armorcast made some big minis back in the day. So, we couldn't really fit this bad boy into the light box like normal to photograph him, so we ended up with some odd angles. The head is interchangeable. Actually, none of this mini was glued together when we sent him off (I mean, there's just no way to ship a bad boy like this otherwise).
  5. Man, that project can take some time to get into. I mean, there are a lot of minis in SW- especially if you got the Kickstarter set with all the extras.
  6. Well, I got a commission to paint up some of those pretty minis from Studio McVey. Here they are:
  7. Well, here are a few more Zombie Survivor wedding cake toppers that I've created. The theme right now is loud classic zombie fighting weapons. Sure, some would prefer quieter weapons like crowbars or cross bows, but it is hard to argue with the sheer power behind the chainsaw and shotgun.
  8. Well, he's half nymph, so I was going for a sort of David Bowie glam look. So, he's got eyeshadow on, and fairly full lips.
  9. No, but that's mostly because I was using P3 paints. It is Umbral Umber highlighted up by mixing in Bloodstone.
  10. Hey, helping people paint small details is a good thing in my book.
  11. Well, here's a character that I painted from Reaper (for a client). Overall, I was rather pleased with how he turned out.
  12. Yep, those are ways to do it. I find that it is often easiest to paint the eyes before you have painted the rest of the face. Paint them white first, and don't worry about going outside of the lines. Then add a black line down the middle. Then clean up around the edges of the eye to create the shape (it is best if you clean up in a lining color like black, so that you'll have a dark line between the white and your flesh tone). Hope that's helpful. I'm currently working on getting the shine and color just right (if you want to know what I'm talking about, go have a look at the Dark Sword minis that Marika Reimer and Jessica Rich have painted).
  13. Well, here are a few of the Malifaux minis that I've had across my table.
  14. Well, here are some pics of a colossal I recently got to paint. This was painted on commission:
  15. Well, here is another cake topper that I made, and I thought I would share it here. Ninjas are great fun.
  16. I do plenty of zombies... but the next one I have for posting is a Ninja...
  17. Well, this time there are no zombies involved (except that someone could potentially play co-op Left for Dead at any minute). But here are some cake toppers I did recently for couples who wanted to express their love of vidoegames:
  18. I measured her this time, but that was a little while ago. I think she came out to around 150mm scale, but I don't remember if I was measuring to the eye or top of the head. I definitely wasn't measuring to the top of her staff. Yes, that's very large.
  19. Yeah- I won first place at Gencon for my Ramos crew, which I then posted here. I've also done lots of crews, I think I got a lot of comments on my Colette crew. I have a Malifaux Gallery on GardenNinja.com and that has a lot of Wyrd minis in it. Oh, there are some puppets there too.
  20. Well, here is another re-paint of a fairy sculpture, also a commission. Since the last one was done up in such warm, almost autumnal colors, I went with a very different feel here. Also, I wanted to get as far from the original color scheme as I could. This time I had the foresight to measure her height before I mailed her out and she is a little under 150mm scale- yes, that's very big for a mini. I find there are some advantages to having larger minis to work with, but getting smooth blends takes forever this way. As far as uses go, she's just about the right size to be a Lunar Knight or Wild Queen for Fairy Meat. I've posted her on Cool Mini for anyone who cares to vote.
  21. Here's a mini that I got to paint up for a Chaos Dwarf army (along with a number of cannons from Forge World). He's a Taurus from Todd McFarlane's zodiac action figure range, and not a bad sculpt at all. He's been mounted on a Games Workshop base, glued into his pose, and painted to emphasize fire. The lighting and blue background in the photos keeps some of the object source lighting from showing up very well. Next time, I'll do a dark background. Anyway, here he is:
  22. Thanks. I really like how their minis have such an original aesthetic to them. I'm looking forward to when Impact! has their full set of chibi heroes available too.
  23. Well, here are some cute little dragons from Super Dungeon Explore:
  24. Yes- he is from the Dark Vengence box set- and this is the stock pose. I feel like GW is starting to notice that their plastics are falling behind the curve- what with Wyrd, Privateer Press, Cool Mini, and even Reaper making great plastics (albeit each in a very different way). The Dark Vengence box set reminds me more of Space Hulk plastics than their other starter sets. Before, I thought they were trying to sabotage their starter boxes so that people would buy their more expensive versions of the same minis.
  25. Yeah- what I meant was that these were minis that I painted and sent off to their owner in Texas. Such is the way of commissions- most of what I paint goes in the mail.
