  1. That helps a lot and both answers are how we played it, but it's always good to check. I'm sure there will be many more questions in time
  2. I had my first Malifaux game on Monday night with Leveticus against Raputina, though it was more of a training session as it wasn't played to completion and was used to hlp me work out the mechanics of both game and Master. A few things cropped up that we weren't sure of though: 1) The Wounds caused by spells such as Necrotic Unmaking, do they ignore Armour and always do the flat wounds stated? 2) When you bring Leveticus back from death with the sacrifice of a Hollow Waif you ditch your current hand and draw a new one. what happens to any Soul Stones you had? Sorry if these things are obvious but we're new to the game as a club and all still learning
  3. I think what he's saying is that you can intentionally kill yourself by taking wounds from a spells effects, but if it costs you wounds to cast it, in addition or instead of SS or something similar, and that would take you to 0 wounds then you cant.
  4. I ordered my Leveticus crew and some extra bits on Friday from Maelstrom and paid the extra for 1st class delivery, they arrived Saturday morning! While the game seems to have taken off quite nicely in old blighty, perhaps smaller LGS are just testing the waters at the moment and waiting to see how well the game will be supported before stocking more of the range. My gaming club got into the system after seeing it demoed at a games fair and it was stocked by a number of traders there, also Maelstrom seem to have had a lot of response to their proposed Malifaux tournament. Malifaux is a up & coming system and from what I've seen here in the uk, it'll continue to grow and the support will get stronger.
  5. I think you need to play dumb. In all seriousness, you know how the game plays, how your crews work together and how his crew works together, in fact you probably have a good idea what he's going or trying to do before he does. Therefore you need to limit your moves in a bit to let him workout his crew and how it interacts with itself and his opponents. I'm not saying purposely lose, but if you dont one turn wipe him and release all you can when you can he'll (hopefully) start to get the hang of things a bit more give you more of a challenge.
  6. After spending the day perusing these boards and looking at the great models I'm getting towards the point of actually deciding which faction and Master to collect. My origional choice was between Marcus and Zoraida, but after a bit of delving I've been tempted by Leveticus and now I have to decide between him and Zoraida. Could someone kindly explain the styles and differences in play between these two Masters? I understand Leveticus is a bit tricky to use and difficult to master, but can really dish it out when the combos are right, but I haven't been able to find much on Zoraida. Can anyone help? Thanks again in advance, G.
  7. Thanks for that and unfortunately I've been drawn to Leveticus too as his undead constructs look very cool! The fast and furious approach I like the sound of, though I tend to try for some trickery too as that keeps me interested in games longer.
  8. Hi All, I've been tempted into the world of Malifaux by a couple of club mates and I've begun looking at the models to see which faction to pick up. After a bit of looking about I'm trying to decide between Zoraida and Marcus. I like the look of both models and the sets they come with but they both also give me the animal or swamp theme I'd like to get going. Now I know Marcus is able to take beasts from other factions so he can happily take the Silurids, are the Wendigo also beasts? The Sorrows and Poltergeist also very much caught my eye for Zoraid and I wondered how good a fit they would be? Final question is how would the two groups play compared to each other? Is one more direct than the other or more tricky to use? Thanks in advance for any help you can give and please excuse my noobness, I'm going off the info scavanged from a quick flick through the book and the appearance of the models.
