  1. WOW!!! Thanks for all the help as it is much appreciated. I will hold off playing that set for as long as we can. I really don't want to learn or have my friend learn how to play the game on a set that may change every week. Maybe once we get a good grasp of the game we can go back to it. For now im ordering the dark debts Jacob lynch set for our 3rd set. Would I be able to play the Jacob lynch set vs my seamus set? Im not sure how that works since they can both be part of the same faction.

    Thanks again

Lynch is a Ten Thunders/Neverborn master whereas Seamus is a dedicated Ressurecrionist so no same faction there. Having the same faction play against you is not a problem, game and storywise. As Seamus might as well square off against for instance Nicodem over a rare trinket or scrap of forbidden knowledge.

As to the part if they balance out, yes as said before they are quite in balance apart from some different playstyles. Lord Chompy's box certainly isnt a wasted investment as they will get new cards and by the looks of it cather to a whole new playstyle.

If theres anymore questions feel free, these boards and its members tend to be very helpfull, just dont mention Gremlins (lol).

  2. I reckon the delay in the gremlins is just a simple matter of timing - Not many companies can work months/years in advance like GW are often said to do (no idea how true that is, but it seems likely). Takes way too much outlay to do that if you don't have giant reserves of cash I'd guess.

That said, casting slots do need booking up in advance so whatever's ready will get sent for casting as downtime is expensive I imagine.

It might be that the sculpts for them took a bit longer to get right, or something that simple. They weren't ready when they were booking slots that would be ready for january, so something else had to go instead.

Least, that's what I tell myself so the wait seems less difficult *grin*

*pets Mako on the shoulder*. "There there now, they got their own faction now, wherever they may be".

On a serious note I am very much looking forward to a lot of things. Like will McMourning look like his art exactly? Will Fuhatsu fit horizontally or vertically on his base? Are we getting a steam augmented monkey?

Im excited for the range as a whole to be honest!

  3. Back on topic yaay!

Man even while I have a Tara crew in the original package together with the new Seamus and Justice I am excited for more new kits! Especially since I am hooking a friend of mine into Malifaux. He's going to be spoiled by choices. The Lone Marshall is surely in for my Lady J. Crew. Dunno if theres anything really of note for Seamus thou.

  4. Guys, we are talking about a hobby... The prices of bread and butter didn't just go up!

I might not be able to buy whatever I want in one go due to a limited budget but I dont mind either.

Does the price hamper me from playing? Nope, I might just put that Long Rider off for christmas or whatsoever if I find other minions to be cheaper and also needed.

Every minis company sees this thread pop up now and again and I get the point that if something you like gets more expensive you wont be cheering for it.

However I still fully think Malifaux is compared a cheap game.

Why? Entry cost! Lets face it, buyin the 40k starter gives you a nice sneak peak as to what the game could aspire to after sinking another load of money into it.

With a Malifaux starter you will have all that you need for the full experience. Expanding with say 40 to 60 dollars. Thats an entire army right there. Even though I dont think they could compare, as any of these titles is unique in its own right.

I can actually applaud Eric for posting himself as many a company simply wouldnt care even responding.

  5. Yep, I think bigger more complex kits simply are more expensive, seeing that most of them are single buys (no army of Fuhatsu's needed) makes me bother less. We will have to wait and see how elaborate the actual models are. I do believe that Fuhatsu will have atleast 3 mini's, maybe even on a scenic base. Expensive? Why yes, not anything out of wack thou in my opinion.

  6. Let me start of by saying to each there own. I think prices are fair as I certainly think you are getting 2 or 3 models in Fuhatsu's box, maybe even something scenic as his handlers are putting their feet into the dirt to keep him upright. That coupled with a big mini, the fact indeed he is Rare 1 make me believe he surely is plastic.

Pricing according to the in game use of a miniature is something that in my opnion goes with the territory.

To quote Tony Stark: Thats how dad did it, that how we do it...and it has worked out pretty well so far".

As to the release shedule, it really shows Wyrd is going to come to its own as I'd almost think the Reboot into plastic for current models might be complete by end of 3014. Way to go guys!

  7. We know that long before man came through the Breach at all, in ancient times, Malifaux was populated by two races, of lesser and greater godlike beings. The greater gods became tyranical and overbearing, and a war began between the two groups.

It's unconfirmed which of the groups was the victor, or if there were any survivors, or if either group is connected to the Tyrants.

Yeah read the fluff for Trough the Breach and they indeed are referred to as lesser and greater gods as 2 seperate races, one of which went to become tyranical (Tyrants anyone?). Guess the Nephalim are descendand of those "lesser gods", Pandora, Lilith all kinda have a godly domain associated with them in a way. So it might be a proper way of viewing them.

  8. I admittedly havent played Lady J. or any M2E yet (waiting for my stuff to arrive) and get things started. Yet I did peek at some stats and I have a descend grasp of the rules due to the 1.5 book and various articles. I don't really see whats so bad at Lady J. She seems tough and killy, the Marshalls seem nice control units with their Pine Box weapon and The Judge is a nice combi of both killing power and board control. So what do I miss in my theory mashing? Death Marshalls actually putting down markers when they die only seem to balance the fact that Lady J. herself isnt the scheme manipulating master.

  9. After some reading the forums and listening to the various podcasts I can't quite figure Guild into a certain playstyle. Im aware that the playstyle ofcourse changes up with the use of different masters, however is there any certain defining feature to the Guild? I bought Seamus and Lady J. as a box as a nice fluffwise set. Due to unboxings etc. I have a basic idea what Seamus does with his crew. Apart from "L.J. is a homing missile." I havent quite seen any real playstyle around her (or other masters).

  10. Interesting! So basicly to destroy the Tyrants, who in turn seem ascended/corrupted Malifaux Natives, the rest of the native populance rose to rebellion and openend a hole into the realm of death to poison the world and thus the Tyrants... They themselves however have been twisted also by this radical approach and now live as Nephalim, Gremlins etc.? Nifty!

On an edit note: I think Dracomax is on to something. Compiling the fluff into a single source would be great. The exact stories don't have to be copied online, just a sort of Time Line of major events for instance would be grand. Also looking at the RPG this would greatly benefit!

  11. Hey Guys,

I originally posted this in the Writing Room but don't quite think thats the best fit for it, so I will repost here. (sorry for the double post Admins!)

Having read book I and II and gathering some tibbits from multiple sources amongst which are the forums I am kinda fuzzy if I understand the entire Tyrant/Neverborn relationship so far.

They way I have interpreted the Neverborn thus far is that they are the original "Humanoid" populace of Malifaux (ofcourse human ignorance threw in stuff like the Gremlins and Critters under the monger of Neverborn also).

Further down the line I got the impression that the Neverborn where once "humans" which by merrit of their magical power (thank you Soulstones) have become so decadent and depraved that their actual forms twisted and minds shattered. Some of them even "ascending" to a sort of Demi-God status becoming the Tyrants.

Now the Neverborn (as in the people) try and prevent human colonisation as a way to "safe whats left" of their world as well as in a way protecting humanity Earthside from the Tyrants.

I could be completely off as I haven't read the books in a while. But I'm starting to pick them back up again. So any enlightenment where possible would be cool :D.

  13. The event deck would be really cool if themed around someone. Like a Zoridia event deck.

Cards would tell little stories like Zoridia looking for something around the house. Meaning puppets would need to keep clear of a few random spaces on the board not to be seen while she is searching for something.

Or her cleaning house and sweeping the floor with the giant broom 'o death to cross the board for all puppets out in the open to get ripped from etc. really

Those idea´s really caught my imagination ±D

  14. Well I got to admit most of the stuff I dreamt up is allready in there.

I second the "3D Token set" for one, that would look great!

    More Puppets (offcourse!).

Special Puppet-Wars puppets unseen in Malifaux (but based off still).

And now for an idea I havent read about yet (could be me just skimming and not actually reading every post thoroughly). Anyway here is my idea:

Modular terrain boards! I was looking at a "campaign toolset" from "The British Evil Games Marketing Empire that shall remain anounymous" and thought those would work for P-Wars also!

Simple Hex Grids that can be "clicked" together to make Maps for more or less players. Also that would quite nicely work with the 3D terrain suggestions. Like Being able to click/pin on terrain as fits.
