  1. http://www.grandtline.com/model_railroad/detail%20parts/o_scale_trucks_and_wheels.htm Here are some scratchbuilding parts. If the scenario is set aboard a train: http://www.peginc.com/Downloads/Deadlands/TrainTiles.pdf http://greywolf.critter.net/tiles.htm
  2. RPGNow has entries for a black and colour version. Anyway it's too flat to even use as a pattern.
  3. You should paint the sides of the rails in rust, only the top should look like steel.
  4. Many will do it anyway. http://4largescale.com/chris/c23.htm http://4largescale.com/chris/c49.htm http://4largescale.com/chris/c36.htm http://4largescale.com/chris/c58.htm http://ozsteam.com/ http://bouldervalleymodels.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=2&zenid=knv0n9qn03d9npkjqt45kl7bf1 Update on the Vulture Gulch train. I was thinking of buying the back and white version and using it as a pattern only to see the images and find it wouldn't help as there is too much design work to do which is not covered in the package, details too flat, and a couple of bad reviews.
  5. Hello, I am Shadowbeast, which is also my name on Starship Modeler and Post_apoc_Wargames. Anyone on Worldworks, TMP, the Forum of Doom, the Steampunk Forum or the Privateer forums may know me as Chironex. I am interested in this game due to the small army sizes and chance for some anachronistic mechanised fantasy, probably to my detriment- straying away from GW around here is usually a waste of time. I am in Townsville, Australia which is hours from the nearest enclave of non-gw/battlefront gamers by air. Unless you want d&d or 28mm Nappys, or are part of certain secretive cliques. Otherwise I can't get any interest in new games at all. I have been researching trains in gaming as well as static modelling for some time now, and looking at steampunk/VSF/AMF even longer. I can also be counted on to randomly spout some uncomfortable truths about printing and papercrafting. That comes from six years working in office equipment and sneaking in card models when I had a colour copier to test. I lost that job recently so don't expect brand loyalty out of me. except to say that Sharp are ridiculous, Samsung are rubbish and Lexmark are cheap junk.
  6. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2739/4074813616_d4dc0cd8e4.jpg I haven't had much trouble with Armorcast at all, except for those medical floating tanks like the bacta tanks in Star Wars. the resin wouldn't allow the paint to dry and the tubes were horrible sections of badly cut plastic cylinder that you couldn't cut to shape as they kept squashing about everywhere. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2739/4074813616_d4dc0cd8e4.jpg http://www.expedition360.com/australia_lessons_literacy/arltunga_police_sta.jpg http://images.aad.gov.au/img.py/2a89.jpg http://www.townsville.qld.gov.au/townsville/heritage/heritage_kit/guide2 (scroll down a bit) I also have some WWG packs, the most suitable I find is Wildwood Grove, Swampwoods Village and Streets of Himmelveil, which I simply cut out and use as tiles normally, not bothering with the foamcore business as I can't get any. I would also use Shellendrak Manor and Cathedrae Noctis but now I don't work for the office equipment shop anymore I can't get printing so economically and I've no storage. Still, see what you think: http://www.worldworksgames.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=48&products_id=178 http://www.worldworksgames.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=48&products_id=288 The lava tiles of the Dungeonlinx 2.5d: Lair of the Dragon God set look they can be used for steampunk/VSF/AMF too, like the floors of a factory- a bit flat, and characters can't climb down as is, but even with the flow off you might want to refrain from going down there anyway... http://www.worldworksgames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7712&start=0
  7. The thing about the Whitewash City designs is that they are drawn as vector graphics, they can be scaled up or down at will without adding line thicknesses or pixellation as all the lines are stored as algorithms not arrangements of pixels. This is also the biggest issue with them, as they cannot have photo textures applied. That means that the finished building looks like a half done white box with no texture at all. I felt a bit sick when I saw the free sample and considered that the rest of the buildings you have to pay for. The best use of these is to actually use them as patterns to cut out and make wood or plastic buildings. You don't need a colour printer for that. I cannot recommend the Fat Dragon buildings either; I shall be waiting until Worldworks' Deadfall comes out. (well we think it's going to be a Western set...)
  8. Hi, I have been researching trains for gaming for a long time, and if I find any toys good enough, they are not around to buy by that point. So we have few options: The aforementioned Vulture Gulch train, trouble is I've never seen a pic of the coloured version. There is also a papercraft train from Paper Terrain, and some from Marcle Models, all preprinted. Minicraft have a 1/45 Vulcan Saddleback and coaches, but I can't tell you the gauge of that. Nor the 1/50 Arii repops of classic Japanese locos, good luck finding rollingstock in that scale. Redoubt and Dixon have Western trains, the Redoubt is a bit better than the Dixon but costs vastly more. Company B have much cheaper trains, in 1/56 on S gauge track. One civilian and one armoured. I don't like their childrens-story, 4-wheeled, touristy rollingstock though. I know one can get bogies and drivewheels separately, so I'd try that. Also try cheaper places to buy train stuff. http://www.toytrainheaven.com/.sc/ms/cat/O%20Bachmann--On30 These are about the best prices I've found for On30, unfortunately. One thing you never do is order directly from the Bachmann website. Sometimes paying a bit more is fine if they give you free post, but markups like that... http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/products.php?act=viewCat&catId=76 The On30 and O ranges don't have such a spectacular difference between the official website and online retailer prices as the HO range, but it can be a lot more. The difference is often at least as much as the postage. Dragonwolf, what gauge is the track for that set? That loco might actually be useful. If the gauge is common enough, you could probably get rollingstock bogies and scratch the rest to fit.
