  7. Ahoy midwest malifaux players! Here are all the events for M2E in St. Louis for the month of March: Event: Malifaux Demo/Play Nights - Thursday March 12th & 26th Place: Rarity Games (4501 S Kingshighway Blvd St Louis, MO 63109) Summary: Come out and learn to play Malifaux! No matter if you're looking for an update into M2E or starting from scratch, I'll be more than happy to show you the ropes of this Victorian horror skirmish game. If you're already familiar, strike up a game with one of the regulars! Rarity stocks plenty of terrain and tables to accommodate.. Also - with all the preparations for Adepticon, we'll have a best painted contest (single model), for all the hard work you've put in for the event. Show up on Thursday the 26th for this free contest. The winner will get a pull from my stash of new in box models! Hope to see you there!
  8. The key ingredients here are a) breaking line of sight and not leaving engagement range. Your example with the wall doesn't break line of sight, so your opponent would still get a disengaging strike Walking out of engagement range, with any model, provokes a disengaging strike (unless special rules apply on the card).
  9. Huggy will no longer be stuck in combat. NOBODY puts huggy in a corner.
  10. Thinking outside the "two model" box, would this also gives incorporeal models an extra way to get away: If 2x Ht2 models are right up against a wall (Ht 400), and one of the models is incorporeal, its first AP it moves to the other side of the wall, but within the measured Ml range of its attacker. It's second AP it can just dart away as it is no longer within LoS.
  11. True, but severe terrain, intervening models to go around, etc are also a factor I was considering.
  12. Yeah... just if the attack fails. I went back and added the last paragraph for completeness, and i think that holds the key to the question right there.
  13. Just looking for feedback on if this interpretation is sound: Lets say that Mei Feng is engaged with... Model X, and is ~2.8" away Sidir is lurking near by X, and X really needs to get away from Mei Feng... Relevant Rules: If Mei Feng uses jackhammer kick, she follows whoever she is kicking at. This makes it very hard to get away from her. Propposed order of operations: So X declares a walk, Mei chooses to take a jackhammer kick Disengaging strike, Sidir becomes the new target, then (no matter if sidir is hit or not) X strolls away. Or does Sidir getting hit stop the movement? So, would the timing be such that Sidir jumps in the way of the disengaging strike, allowing X to continue his walk action to get away, regardless to Mei's position after the push/attacj in Sidir? The movement action, which provoked the disengaging strike, still has to happen before another disengaging strike could occur.... right? Thanks

  15. Update: As the Book 3 beta will be on it's last round by that point, the most up to date beta rules (meaning those released the week of 2/17) will be allowed in this tournament.
  16. Yeah, I'm not so worried about cover or LoS. Those rules are cut and dry. Just specifically falling models. I was only using the severe terrain example as a less complex example. Thanks for your input Bengt.
  17. So i witnessed this in a tournament of mine the other day, and i couldn't find anything that states when a model is affected by terrain in the book. Specifically, how much of the model's base has to be affected before the terrain trait is applied. The answer is pretty easy with severe terrain, but what about sheer drops? I've heard from Vassal that lots of folks play that the severe terrain halves movement when 50% of the base is in terrain. I've heard some vassal players say that as soon (and as long as) any part of the base is in severe terrain, it is affected. I could see this being agreed to before a game gets started, and that's fine. But where the dilemma gets sticky is when we take it to the physical tabletop, and when we consider sheer drops: How much of a model is allowed to hang off the edge of a wall before that model is forced to fall? I have seen this happen when people try to skirt auras or melee ranges, but don't want to fall off; thus, their base sticks off the edge 1mm, 2mm, 5mm, half the base? more? However much the player can balance the model? Without a ruling from the book, i'd like to hear how you all play it on the tabletop.

  22. Shameless self promotion here, but we've got a pretty good video about your choices here: Malifaux Corner - Picking Your Faction with Joel …: It's a bit long, but goes over a lot of the differences, mechanically, per faction. Really though -find the fluff that you like and use that as the starting point. If you pick up the main m2e rulebook, there are enough stories in there to get started. Good luck and welcome to Malifaux!
  23. Those are fantastic! LOL If only the one with the bowler had a cigar.... Hell... give them ALL cigars!
  24. Wow that model is far more tiny than i thought it would be... I too had fun building my Metal one. There was a fair amount of patience and pinning involved, but it wasn't that bad. I just made sure each glued joint was fully cured before moving on to the next one.... Oh, and I like your wing swap, MasterShake! Where did you get those?
