  2. Welcome Tradition. Looks they got you on the right track. Great time to be coming into the game. The arsenal decks I recommend if your buying what I also recommend being the small rulebook, as it will show you what all you can take in your faction. Less required if your going big rule book and then cross roads. Make sure you check out the Crew creator located on the website and please ask questions if you have them.

  3. In a perfect world sure. But having been around for the alt viks episode were the paint and photographs were so poor it actually had people hating the model till they got it. I tend to be firmly in the just the model camp. Studio paint job I'll never be able to replicate don't sell me anything. There was plenty of visuals to draw peeps in outside of having a few painted models for the vendor hall demo table. The primary demo area and play area had painted sets AZ the people doing the demos had brought them and most were henchman

  4. Wel I've got one thing to say. I'd rather have the oversized brass arachnid than have to deal with another zombie chauchua tail. Or lose detail to make sure a crouching model if it stood wouldn't tower over the other ones. To me these crouching poses are cinematic close up represented in model form. So I have way less of an issue with it as in those cases it's an artistic choose and my big meaty fingers would rather not have to manipulate tiny parts. Height is an abstraction in the game I do have a slight issue with the tendency toward base over hang. But that is mostly do to playability as some abilities require the bases to directly touch. Or the over hang actually obscures the base size from booth opponents view.

.errata does and always will exist for any game that takes its rules seriously.

It's a typo however will correct if only there were some kind of writing implement that I could put the proper value on the card or, if only when wyrd in there ignorance recognizes the mistake if they could put up a proper revised card that I could freely print, oh wait they done that for other card erratas already.

At the end of the day still I love nitpicking 2.

  5. Wyrd doesn't have in house painting studio, and I much rather have at least product shown and in base plastic than no product at all. Additionally paint is highly subjective as to what good what not's and that is separate issue. But fair enough perhaps something to work on for next time. The booth itself was very cool looking and really stood out and had a phenomenal location for foot traffic and exposure. The poster art was plentiful and beautiful. Product was in strong supply throughout and the dedicated wyrd cosplay for the weekend was top notch.

  6. Simple answer it's a game mechanic that is designed buff the defense of the models that have it and to cause pause by those models who would attack. It's like spiked armor or bad odor doesn't mean you can't attack it but means you gotta figure if you really want to do it.

On a fluff level terror is a bending of the aether that causes the model attacking to give pause as the very fabric of the world around the object is bent reality. That can freeze a model in its tracks

  7. Okay let's get into a bit of a history lesson as I know a lot of us having been miniature wargaming a long time and some malifaux is your first stop on a wonderful hobby. Let's talk about the good and the bad of a boxed starter.

For us old folks let's think back to the first moment We saw a wargame and went what is that I want to play. What were t he 3 questions that popped into your head right after? For me it was will my brother play? How do I get started and what is the cost to continue? The two player starter answered all those questions for me because it came with a force for your opponent, it came with dice and it came with a game catalog and it came with a walk away price. If we found we didnt like the game we had not invested much at that point. If we did like the game we had a great starting point.

Okay so why do I think a starter box would work for malifaux. I'm again coming at this from a long time wargamer and long time henchman perspective. The two biggest questions after a demo are one is there a starter set and 2 what do I need to get started? The starter answers that in a compact singular item purchase. ADDITIONALLY there is an impulse market wyrd is leaving behind because there is no 2 player game in a box starter. Allow me to explain 2 starter boxes are a 2 for player grab when getting into a game it's always about who plays it. The starter means you and a friend can both go in on one. It also means for henchman or those who wish 2 become them there is a demo in a box ready for them 2 pIck and get to it.  From a store perspective it also a lot more cost-effective to demo out a 2 player box for store use then 2 boxes 2 cards and a rule book.

What should be in the box

    1 a5 rulebook

2 paper fate decks (the old school types)

    Contents of Guilds Justice

And contents of Memories of red chapel

Make price point 100. Even if you can't make that pencil I'd change up the sprue mix till you have 2 that make adding the rule book and 2 cheaper 2 produce fate decks and maintain your margins.
