  1. For my Coryphees and Coryphee Duet, I drilled a pin into the kneeling one and using a hobby knife and file, I widdled the base insert tab the size of my hobby drill's pin. Then I drilled a hole into each of the bases (2 in the 50mm base for the Duet) and just swap them when I need form Voltron with them. It works pretty well, as I can store the figures and bases separately to save space in my Malifaux bag.
  2. Just finished these two recently. And now, FORM VOLTRON! I need to fix up their bases, but otherwise they both were a lot of fun to paint. *The up close shots are on the second page.
  3. Hello, I will be running a demo for Malifaux at Gamescape San Francisco this Wednesday at Gamescape San Francisco. If you already know how to play, please stop by for casual play if you are interested. The three w's are below! What: Malifaux Demo When: Wednesday, August 25, 2010. 1pm to 6pm Where: Gamescape San Francisco 333 Divisadero St San Francisco, CA 94117
  4. The December Acolyte can pull units away from Sonnia's Advanced Counterspell leaving them open to Rasputina's spell blast. An alternative is using the Steamborg Executioner's knock back to push Sonnia 4" away. You could potentiality do it all with Taelor's Hammerstrike. Another way to go would to eat away at your opponents hand by using the Wendigo/Essence of Power to cast Rasputina's spells before hand to prevent Sonnia's Advanced Counterspell when Rasputina puts down the hurt.
  5. I'm using my Hordes Battlefoam Bag until the Malifaux one gets released.
  6. Whoops, sorry! Misread that as Joss. But true, the Steamborg normally gets to be the target of spells like Obey or Self-Loathing. The flexibility is great with the Arachnids, especially since they always cause the threat of Self-Destruct for a free 2 Dg. But having them possibly getting picked off by your opponents range is bad also, since they are running around with only 3 Wd. I suppose this has a more situational answer anyhow, when in Step 5: Hire Crews of the encounter, just make the choice based on the terrain setup and the scenarios you and your opponent got and schemes you chose.
  7. What's giving the discount on Joss? Besides that question, have you considered the Steamborg Executioner? He is 10ss, but he is worth the serious amount of damage that he can deliver. He also poses the large threat to an opponent, causing them to probably focus a bit on him and leaving the rest of the group to position themselves. And instead of 4 Steampunk Arachnids, having 1 Swarm and 1 Arachnid might benefit a bit more. Being able to hold objectives with having to spend a turn to combine the Arachnids and having a Swarm with 9 Wd gives it a higher chance at surviving.
  8. Voracious only requires 1 more friendly Hoarcat pride to be in effect. As far as your list is concerned, you might want to go a bit more toolbox with it. Adding in any model that can ignore severe terrain (Arachnid Swarm, Myranda or Steamborg Executioner, just from the Arcanist list) will definitely help out a lot of the encounters that have Rubble or Bogs as one of the special features. The Cerberus can ignore it once with Leap, but that requires a CC 10:masks, so you'll need to either flip the right card with luck (8 possible cards in the deck that can do it, with varying odds dependent on when you cast leap) or cheat fate with a 7:masks or higher (which then uses up resources from your hand.). Taking Myranda will allow you to transform her into either the Cerberus or the Rattler to allow a more situational approach on matters dependent on the scenario or schemes that are chosen. The 40ss list that I would recommend overall taking into consideration of your preferences. Rasputina Essence of Power (2) Hoarcat Pride x 2 (10) Ice Gamin (4) Myranda (7) Steamborg Executioner (10) December Acolyte (6) Totaling 39ss.
  9. I would recommend taking Joss over the Ice Golem in games that don't require a quicker unit that can output a good amount of damage quickly. Otherwise take the Ice Golem when you need to slow down the enemy units with a good Ranged Strike Attack with Blast Damage that can also Slow them. I would recommend against the Cerberus as he is very fragile, and after losing 4 Wd, he loses Three-Headed which is one of his most valuable abilities. Two Ice Gamins or One Ice Gamin with an extra 4 soul stones for Rasputina to lay down the hurt or protect herself will be good also.
  10. Sonnia's totem, the Purifying Flame, is good to have with her. Being her magical extension, you could with manipulate your opponents movements with Flame Wall if you have the right cards in your hand. Its 0 AP spell also has the benefit of making anyone trying to attack it in melee takes 2 damage. Her Flame Burst is also deadly, it's severe damage has 3 blast markers with 5 damage. It's also pretty easy to pull off, as long as you're willing to sacrifice a soul stone to activate her Confiscated Lore to give her +1 CA with the Book needed to cast it. Just cast this off on someone with a low DF and send the templates off to blast other figures for free damage. This is especially good against anyone that is out of her line of sight or one that require duels to even target them.
