  1. That sounds...really awesome! Do you remember where you bought/got that table?
  2. Well to be fair, Games Workshop clearly had no heart behind Necromunda and Mordheim. Virtually every non-army game they make (Those two, Man O'War, Battlefleet Gothic) is released, putters around for a couple of years and vanishes. Which sucks, because some of those had really great ideas.
  3. I was curious, are the Twisted models in the online store related to Malifaux or another game? Or are they just independent models? I ask because I really like some of them (Especially those Imps), and think most of them would fit into Malifaux just fine.
  4. I tend to like bigger tables myself - Adds to the epic feel. I'd like to find maybe a 5'x5' table, but those are both rare and expensive.
  5. Sounds perfectly understandable now. Thanks to all three of you for your help.
  6. I had two quick questions related to Soulstone costs for creating your army: 1) I noticed that Masters have a Soulstone Cache instead of a Soulstone cost. Does that mean that the cost of using a Master in your team is always 0? As in, if you're doing a 30-SS skirmish, you choose 30 points *in addition* to your Master? 2) On a related note, does the Soulstone Cache a Master has affect the Soulstones you can use when picking your determining your army? As an example, in a 30-SS skirmish, does Nicodem actually get to choose 33, or McMourning 36? Or is that strictly an in-game statistic? Thanks in advance!
  7. I used to work at a pet store, and we had these wood/cork panels that you would attach to a terrarium wall to allow reptiles to climb. They came in 18"x24" blocks, so I bought a bunch and use them as a floor on top of my table. It's an awesome way to convey an outdoor terrain, particularly in a wooded area. Update: http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog/reptile-supplies/backgrounds-and-waterfalls/-/zoo-med-18-x-24-cork-tile-background/ Here's a link to the ones I bought.
  8. Absolutely awesome. I wish I could paint even a tenth that well.
  9. I'm in the same boat, SuicideCommando. I liked Heavy Rain but didn't love it - It didn't hold up as well as a story as I would have liked. But I thought it was slightly better than Indigo Prophecy, which starts out very strong but COMPLETELY falls apart in the end.
  10. I like that idea. I had been thinking about typing up the Ability list just for my own personal reference (So that you can just grab a sheet of paper, rather than have to whip out the book), and I'd be more than happy to post it here if I ever get around to doing it.
  11. Which would you say are the weakest starter sets?
  12. Finding players for a new game is always tough. Are there any local stores that carry Malifaux? If so, I would ask the store owner if they could organize a Malifaux gaming day on some weekend coming up. If not, I would instead ask if you could have a table sometime to play it with a friend, and try to convert people who might be browsing in the store and watching you. Like Lalochezia said, sometimes you have to make new players yourself.
  13. Wow, that definitely looks cool. What exactly is celotex? Is it expensive, and and where can you get it?
  14. I'm hesitant to paint just because I'm terrified I'll do a lousy job and totally screw up the model.
  15. Or even if not. That's really cool.
  16. I would go with the Razorspine Rattler. My favorite creature minis aren't usually the WTF-style monsters, but rather the monsters that are based off something in the real world (either an animal or a myth) and simply made ten times cooler.
  17. Fantastic, EricJ! Catalogs are in themselves fun to collect - I'll be looking forward to it.
  18. Is Wyrd planning to sell or otherwise make available its 2009 catalog? I know of several mini companies that sell 'em, as they're nifty to have to see the totality of what's available for each faction during a given year. It'd be cool.
  19. Hey mriverakc, do you know if the owner of the Game Habitat plans to run a league or have a regular designated Malifaux weekend? I was in today (Buying the rulebook, woo!), and he said it's sold better than he expected, so that's always a good sign.
  20. Right now I'm using a nice gaming table that's about 4.5' by 3.5'. It's nice, but I'm not sure if it's big enough. Plus, it has circular edges instead of being a rectangle, so I don't know. I know the Malifaux rulebook says 3'x3' is the absolute minimum that should be used, and I remember Warmachine's books always recommended 4'x4'. On that note, what kind of table do you all use?
  21. It's kind of funny with me, I think I enjoy the collecting aspect of gaming almost as much as the gaming itself. There have been some games I personally didn't enjoy actually playing all that much, but I still kept collecting because I liked the aesthetic/theme of the setting (The old White Wolf RPGs come to mind). When you can take a step back and look at an army that you've developed over several years, or a long-running RPG series that you've bought every supplement of along the way, it can be just as rewarding as being an active fan. So when I go through a slump, I step back for a week or two, get worried about falling behind, and that usually snaps me out of it.
  22. Hey there! I do shop there for gaming stuff. In fact, it was there that I found out about Malifaux. I wasn't aware of the event last Saturday introducing players to the game so I missed that, but I'd definitely be up for meeting up there and playing a game - I haven't actually played the game yet, so any help in learning the rules and such would be awesome.
  23. I would buy an updated rulebook, but I would prefer 1) There are a couple of years separating the two, and 2) There's at least one or two expansion books released prior to the update, giving the update a chance to catch errata on *those* books as well.
  24. Wow, thanks for so many suggestions so quickly! I'll definitely have to poke through those links and see what strikes me.
  25. This game obviously has a great Western feel to it, and most of the terrain I own simply doesn't work for that genre. The trees designed for fantasy games are usually kind of forest-y, and while the buildings I own kinda sorta work, there's still definitely medieval-themed. I really am looking for something that fits an arrid or open-plains type feel. Anyone have any suggestions for places online I can look?
