  1. That was without flash actually. tripod and two daylight lamps on either side. Given I didn't bother with a light box, but the shadows were pretty well controlled without going that far. Its overexposed, but that's really because I was in AV mode using +1ev comp for the black background and it over did it abit. I normally shoot these shots in M mode, but I forgot to when I was doing these and only checked the first few shot's histograms before assuming it was okay. Still don't know what I got blur though. Focus was good, All I can think of is I bumped stuff, but I was using a cable release too. *shrug* Short- Yah I know I screwed this set up, but I was too lazy to unpack all my stuff and redo it.
  2. Colored backgrounds look cool on the computer, but they suck for printing. Especially on color printers. Make a version with a white background.
  3. The water effect is a modeled ripple done with epoxy putty. Primed and based a bright blue. Then a weak coat of Game Color (AV) Black Green ink, with a second stronger coat. Matte coated then recoated with Future floor wax (undiluted) to get the shine. Mud is Game color Brown ink, undiluted with the future floor wax on it after the matte coat.
  4. Not quite sure what happened to a couple of the photos. I was on a tripod with a cable release.... Oh well, I'll shoot em again soon. Article on my Blog if you're interested.
  5. Not really. I busted the original 30mm bases and the store was out of Malifaux ones. I was planning on removing the tabs and leveling the base anyways and these fit the bill.
  6. Just finished this one for a friend. If you want the attached article. http://www.ruleslawyer.bellguard.com/?p=540
  7. This is really my first try in the 28/32mm world. Been painting 15mm WWII stuff for a couple years. If you want to see the article, and a more managable gallery, http://www.ruleslawyer.bellguard.com/?p=532
  8. I prefer to do in on base, but sometimes its just not practical to do so. It mainly has to do with how many contact points the mini has with the base and how hard its going to get a brush in there to do the work.
  9. Were you at the tournament on Saturday? I was the guy wandering around in the Boba Fett hoodie.
  10. If you're just talking about water effects large enough for a base, something that works well I discovered by Accident-future floor wax. I use it for washes etc, and on occasion when I've over applied I noticed it make nice pools. Might need a couple days to dry, but its a clear acrylic that is cheap as chips.
  11. Hey Everyone, New to the board, new to the game. Shout out to the Games Plus crew on here. I run a war gaming blog http://ruleslawyer.bellguard.com Its been mainly about flames of war, but expect to see articles on Malifaux popping up before long.
