  1. Have you built much scenery yourself before now? What kinds of equipment and supplies do you need to get started? I've wanted to try this myself, but I'm not quite sure where to begin.

    Would help to know exactly what you are trying to build. Buildings are a bit different then boards afterall.

    Try going to Terragenesis... its a great website with loads of inspiration, useful terrain guides and lots of people who can answer your questions.

    Terragenesis is a great site but dont forget that some of the users on here aren't to shabby them selves, TheBugKing being one of them. You can see some of his stuff on Terrainthralls.

    P.S. I am not to bad myself.

  2. Need to make a quick correction, I used Powerpoint not photoshop (not sure why I put that in). Like thetang22 says though you can also do all the aging manually in photoshop without to much trouble. I have used it before with good results.

    And thanks for the compliments.

  3. No, the rest of the crew wont be continuing the wall or house, however, they will be showcasing the rest of So'mers place.

    Also Gryphonne Sepia is nice, however, I would still like to have my Chestnut ink back! The two are similar but at the same time substantially different. Gryphonne Sepia is more like a glaze to me then a wash.

  4. So many people are stoked about plastic and think it's the best decision made by any game company in the history of the world. Am I alone in wishing my jacks and entire army were still made out of the same metal material?

    I own the bastions. I'm impressed. Admittedly. They went together like a dream, have pretty good detail (although I was surprised by the amount of mold line flash - easily removed, but still surprised at the amount), easily modded....I still want metal.

    You are not alone. I am even thinking about saving up for casting equipment so I can recast mine in metal. I love the rules for the Bastions and dont mind the scuplts to much, though they do seem to lack a bit in the detail department. I wont buy them or any other plastic kits from Privateer. Sadly, along with the Mark II rules and lack of Iron Kingdoms RPG support, the move to plastic has killed the game for me.

  5. Wanted signs are fairly easy, I used Powerpoint and google to get the right feel of what should be on them. Once I made the sign the way I wanted I just used the scalable printing feature to scale everything down to 20%. Unfortunately you end up wasting a bit of paper doing it this way but it is easy. Once they are printed throw some GW Gryphone Sepia over it for the aged feel.

    Also what exactly are you looking for bigger pictures of?

  6. When I decided I was going to play Malifaux, I absolutely had to have the pigherding, shine drinking, dirty hillbillies from Bayou country. Here is the first of the group;

    And what self respectin' holligan wouldn't post his own wanted sign?

    Let me know what ya think, comments and criticism always appreciated.

  7. If you have any model train stores near you you can get balsa and bass wood in scale sizes. Course the investment in time can be a bit much so satisfactory results can be obtained from using foam board and formed sheet styrene (also usually available in the model train stores). Here is a Link to a source for the material I am talking about. If you go to the train stores the package will have the intended scale printed on it as well (as mentioned O scale is about right). Hopefully that helps a bit.

    P.S. You definately need to post pictures of this when you are done. High Plains Drifter is an awesome movie and should sit well as a mining community in Malifaux. You know the kinda place that doesn't take kindly to Guild law.

  8. I like these a lot.

    At first I thought there wasn't enough going on the the first Victoria's base then it clicked, its like the old western gun fighter movies where they slowly stalk down an abandoned street and a stiff breeze blows some leaves behind them. Sorta fits her well. I also like the subtle play between the grays and blues. Nicely done.

    The OSL on the second Victoria is nice on the figure but a bit much on the wall. The reds on her are very nice as well. I agree with you about the eyes on her, they could do with a bit more work. Also probably to late to do anything about but, she looks as if she should be leaning into the wall instead of slightly off of it.

  9. Duplicolor is awesome and fairly inexpensive. And like Angel_of_menoth says it is a real primer versus most of the others glorified spray paints. White and black have great coverage and I have yet to have it cover up any detail. The tooth is perfect (allowing the top layers of paint to bond better) and the finish is durable (it doesn't wipe off like most of the other brands with handling while painting).

  10. I made this wall of flame for Warmachine.

    WallofFire.jpg

    It is made from a lot of green stuff, and actually wasn't that difficult. All I really did was kinda get the general shape then poke, prod, tease, and twist the flame into shape.

    Here is a little bit better picture with some stuff for scale added in;

  11. I would start with a sturdy base (recommend MDF), glue on your central pole and support poles in a circular or square pattern (recommend balsa wood dowels, center should be thicker), Run some jute or hemp cord from the support poles to the central pole (leave it a bit slack), now for the tricky part thin some glue (recommend Carpenters) and place it in one of those disposable paint trays.

    For the last part you can use either paper towel (which draps a bit more naturally but isn't as durable) or the thinest cloth you can get (not quite as natural but far more durable, old cotton T-shirts work great for this). All you do is soak the papertowel or cloth in the thinned glue and drap it over the tent supports. Cut your entries while it is wet. Let it dry, then go back and paint it with the thinned down glue until it is hard enough for your liking.

    Paint on bright guady colors (strips work well), wash with thinned black/dark brown paint (though tea also works).

    Add some tent stakes (1/2" tall balsa wood dowels with the tops lightly hammered) to the perimeter (two per pole is about right) and add some jute or hemp cord as guy lines.

    If you are really ambitious you could make the tent it self removable so you could play inside (just put some of that clear plastic cooking wrap over the poles before you drap the paper towel or cloth)
