  1. Seconded, would love to see Sybelle by herself. I am interested in what you did with her, from what I can tell she almost looks like a respectable old girl.

Also the mud on the dress bottoms are an awesome idea. I'll have to replicate that on my Belles when I get around to them.

  2. Yep. That need to keep out of enemy melee reach is the tough part.

I still use it from range anyway, though, since it can still crank out a lot of damage.

This is a perfect reason to take Ophelia with the gremlin gunline, her auto squeel ability is pure win with Y'all watch this.

  3. Morning all!

I'm going to chance my arm and see if anyone's happy to talk me through the main weaknesses in the two Gremlin line-ups?

I've never player against either Sommer or Ophelia before and have Jo's tourny this weekend with about a million Gremlin crews listed so would appreciate some pointers if possible.

Looking at the threads I'm expecting a couple of things, skeeter spam to reduce my cards, gremlin spam based on sheer weight of numbers (both somer player strategies) and alpha striking gun line from ophelia - is that right? Is there anything else I should be looking out for? Also, is the best approach going straight after the masters in both lists as quickly as possible?

I know it's a bit unorthodox to ask, but hopefully someone will let me know what I'm in for! :D

You covered most of the bases, however you will also need to be prepared for the pig boomerang. It will be telegraphed, however it is still a viable tactic.

Be very wary of Ophelia running a gremlin gunline, you'd be amazed how much damage that can generate.

  4. I would say go with the Gremlins. They are usually considered an underdog crew (as you hear above) but can be very competitive once you learn them. A Som'er crew (investment) will be larger then most due to the differences in play style that comes from utilizing his different strategies. The Lacroix's are also a great choice as they are a bit more straight forward. Best thing is if you like them they can also be included with a Som'er crew.

  5. Dark Knight, If you are looking to learn Colette Nerdelemental is probably one of the best to ask. In truth though most of the Tuesday Night crew at RIW are really knowledgable about Malifaux. For me they have always been extreamly friendly and entertained a lot of questions (from me and the neighbor kid I brought with me a few times). I enjoyed playing with and against all of them. Definately miss the crew since moving to the Big Easy.

I cant speak for MAOW as a whole but I've met Paradox a few times, and he was always kosher (even during a tourney at Pandy). I would recommend giving the place a look for yourself.

Oh and I gotta say Pam is awesome, her customer service is outstanding. I travel a lot around the country and I have to say RIW is in the top three of stores I have visited.

  6. I've actually had a great deal of success with the Latest GW "How to build terrain" book

if you can find it on the cheap (it usually MSRP's for $29.99) it's totally worth having!

The GW Lustria book also had a great section on jungle terrain, especially the bamboo grove. Because its from the last addition you should be able to get it cheap.

  7. Model railroaders produce some great terrain books that aren't that expensive. I would recommend working in "O" scale as it is the easiest to scratch build (a 1/4" = 1' in game). I'll second what Jmp_mydog recommended, White Wash City does give a good start. Instead of Foamcore, though I recommend Matte board. Another site I use for inspiration is Better Then Scratch, they provide scale dimensions for everything they sell and some great pictures as well. And of course if you have the money, they produce some great kits.
