  1. Maybe it was actually "end of the weak"; so once Wierd Sketch has completed his unholy mission of cleansing the Earth of the puny and the undeserving, he will unveil the great FAQ - carved into monolithic tablets of stone and containing the forbidden knowledge passed down by the overlord EricJ. ;)

  2. Post up your lists for comments/criticism, plus it would be interesting to see what lists people are running and their impression of their effectiveness. ;)

I'm only just getting into Leveticus and for my inaugural (standard) 25SS Crew I've chosen the following:

    • Crew Cost: 23/25 Remaining: 2 Soulstones: 2

      Name Cost
      Leveticus, Steampunk Necromancer 0
      Rusty Alyce 8
      Necropunk 3
      Necropunk 3
      Bete Noire 9

I've not run a full game with it yet, altho I've proxied some of these models in smaller test games when I was deciding if Leveticus was for me or not. Has anyone run similar?

The idea of course is that the Resurrectionist models have built in CB:crows and lots of :crows:crows triggers that combo well with Blessings of Desolation. Bete Noire is there to replace Leveticus when he dies, and as long as a 10+ card is kept can not be removed from the game. Alyce is there for card draw, ranged attacks and other useful abilities. The Necropunks seem like decent, fast and cheap chaff to sling around the board; especially for things like Treasure Hunt.

Also, ganging tho two Necropunks on things can make them Slow for a turn, which stacks well with Bete either Slowing or Paralyzing things elsewhere. Basically, I think this list has quite a lot of flexibility for 25SS. Alternatives are to drop Bete Noire for some Steampunk Abominations and try and get a Desolation Engine out up the board as the Crew's heavy hitter instead. For increased soul stone cost I would probably swap out the Necropunks for Punk Zombies.

BTW, I used the Crew Builder HERE. Enable copy and paste list and just copy the results. :)

  3. I have to unfortunately echo the (slightly) negative sentiments about Privateer Press over 2009; basically as MVM said, they've lost a lot of momentum and I'm really struggling to get my enthusiasm back. If you jumped in the TARDIS and zipped back to the start of last year, I totally would have gone out and brought WM MKII, factions decks, faction books, new plastic jacks, new casters, THE LOT... in a heart beat!! Now I'm struggling to justify picking anything up except maybe the faction decks so that I can still play games. *shrug*

The problem was, it all seemed to grind to a halt, with only the Retribution to keep interest going over the summer; and if, like me, you thought they looked pants and the rules were an uninspiring rehash of everything else, then it simply wasn't enough. Malifaux EXPLODED here after GenCon, and I was hella interested in the game anyway, because a diceless card system really appealed to me, and the setting is awesome-sauce. Also, my friends were heavily into Infinity by that point, so I picked up a small force and joined playing that game, which I now enjoy immensely.

I played a Warmachine/Hordes MKII game on Monday against my friend's Legion force (I play Cryx), and while it's still the same game I used to love except streamlined, it just feels like it's lost it's charm now. Case in point, I charged an Angelius (with Tenacity and an upkeep on it that made it DEF17) with Terminus (with Malediction up and all 6 Focus) and whiffed loads of attack rolls; absolutely pathetic scores on three dice!.. and there was nothing I could do about it.

It bothered me, to say the least. I guess I'm just used to more elaborate mechanics now like "cheating fate" in Malifaux or "ARO" in Infinity allowing me to mitigate things somewhat; rather than chucking a couple of D6's and preying for a result.

  4. i gots 5 (but only 2 assembled at the mo.. dunno how many i'll need  )

I suspect you'll need the maximum of 4, since like most things in Jones's crew, summoning more onto the board isn't really difficult. ;) Yeah, they're great models, I'd initially looked into them before Wyrd's came out but I couldn't find the buggers for love nor money!! You are a lucky lucky guy!

  5. There is a very, very good reason that for any other master other than Ramos she costs ten.

Actually I thought that Ramos was the only other master she can work for, since he's the only other Scavenger master to the best of my knowledge. Also, she would cost 10SS for him because he's outside of her faction (Outcasts).

Really, Leveticus gets an awesome deal with her, where as Ramos just gets a decent deal. ;)

EDIT: Also, on the subject of the OP, in my proxy games I found that her card drawing mechanics were priceless and well worth the 8SS. She's a good all-round model anyway, with a decent CB on her gun and great damage potential, plus great survivability with her (0) action shenanigans.

Her additional cards usually gave me the high card I needed to sit on to ensure that Black Betty kept coming back for more!! :spider:

  6. I'd always interpreted it that a stampeding Pig must use all it's AP to Pigcharge at a (1) AP cost; noth that it can't do anything else. (0)Eat Your Fill doesn't cost any AP, so you're not spending AP on something that isn't a Pigcharge; therefore I would think it is legal. ;)

  7. They look great man, Justice's hair turned out really well, and the Crew looks awesome together. I prefer the Judge in the dark coat too, as opposed to his usual white; good colour choice.

Now, we need to play some more games, take pics and write up some battle reports. :D

  8. I keep seeing quoted errata now, I'm assuming from the FAQ; surely it would be easier on everyone to just publish whatever errata has been finalized, so that rules marshals don't have to keep quoting from it every day?

Also, it's a bit dodgy telling you gaming group "yeah issue X has been clarified on a thread on the Malifaux forum somewhere" rather then presenting them with a print-out of official errata. Case in point, I had to explain the changes in the Mindless Zombies rules and Nicodem's Zombie Control to a couple of people on Monday. Luckily they took my word for it, but I felt severely lacking in evidence. :P
