So unfortunately I have not played Malifaux in a while. Almost an entire year. I'm looking to start playing again, and jumping into Ten Thunders with Shenlong. I was wondering if anyone could suggest good purchases for his crew after starting with the box? Thanks in advance

With the Colette Gen Con box set, I figured I'd try to pick up a couple other models to run. I've never played Colette, or even arcanists for that matter, so I was hoping someone could maybe give me a suggestion of a smart purchase to go with her/his box

I just want to take a moment to say, the Malifaux community rocks, you, you and you as well are all great gamers and exactly what I've been looking for. I've played minis for MANY years, played each of the big companies, and even got into Malifaux when it first came out. Interest waxed in my community until second edition. Since then I have asked questions, looked for help and EVERY TIME a person on the forums have been more than willing to help. There's never been sarcasm or 'L2Play noob' attitudes. It's absolutely refreshing and I just wanted to thank the community. When you are in a niche hobby, and you're a niche of that hobby, it's great to know you're welcomed in with glee!

There are other tricks you can find. As Ive been a mini gamer for a LONG time Ive seen alot of different things people dont think about. Going to a forest/wooded area near your home can bring you a cache of awesome material, from tree bark to rocks or sand. You can use cork to make rock thats not as hard to work with. You can use basa wood to make planks like an old Western Town.

So Im looking to base up some of my figs. I was wondering what other people used for bases? the inserts from wyrd are nice, however they are EXPENSIVE and they are a little of a pain to work with. What other companies do you use for precasted up bases?

So, Im looking to get back in, and I had a question or two to ask, Avatars, are they important? How do they work? When I played last they were around. Are they similar to Warmachine epic figures where they are just different versions of the characters? I only owned a few odds and ends back in the day, and now I see A LOT of starter sets. Is this actually a good way to start? Will this and a single pack or 2 give me what I need to start playing at 35ish?
