  1. yeah, I knew what you meant. I just meant that a stream like that will be representing some highly pressurized water in the pipes that Mr. Pointy Feet has messed up. You know me. I can't resist an opportunity to get in some digs. You lead a criminal organization, and I know these bases are just the eye candy to distract the masses from your true agenda. Hollow Marsh is as much of a propaganda tool as it is a means for greater safety for the workers. We're watching you.
  2. that would be highly pressurized water, but I like where you're going with that.
  3. Perdita stuck with a bad hand? Surely you jest, good sir.
  4. You had to go and get yours done before I got Joss's, didn't you? It's like we had talked about, yeah? Worked out really nicely, so i guess I will do it for Joss after all.
  5. this might be the start of a Malifaux circuit... Gingerbread in the Windy City? Hmmmm... perhaps a F.A.I.L. road trip will be in order.
  6. Definitely don't think the Ortegas are too powerful at 25ss. They are certainly one of the more efficient builds at 25, but they're not broken at all. And when you move into larger Scraps, they definitely won't complain as much. Outcast mercenaries vs. Ortegas at 25 ain't a bad match at all. I like to bring a Convict Gunslinger instead of Johan, but that's personal preference. Played that exact game this past weekend. If it wasn't for run of 1's, 2's, and 3's flipped in duels with only 5's and 6's to cheat with, the Outcasts would have won. Try out Rasputina with a December Acolyte or Joss. They add a bit more punch sometimes.
  7. Sorry, Santiago is clearly the best gunslinger around. And he doesn't have the criminal record that's holding back that Convict Gunslinger.
  8. Fail Gamers Presents: The Halloween Haunting Tournament, Painting Competition, and Costume Contest When: Halloween (10/31/09), 1st round for the tournament starts at 12:00. Painting and costumes will be judged after the second round. Where: Hobbytown USA, Frederick, MD What: 30 Stone Scrap tournament, Wyrd single figure painting competition, and a Malifaux costume contest. There will be a $5 entry fee for the tournament. This covers prizes, new terrain, and the Halloween treats. Tournament The tournament will consist of 3 rounds of 30 stone scraps. The strategies will be Halloween-themed, and there is the possibility of special Halloween schemes. Players may bring 2 crews/lists for their chosen faction. When it is time to hire crews, players can choose whichever crew they’d like for that round. Each round will have a 90 minute time limit. Wyrd is kindly providing prize support for the tournament, and there will be prizes for the top three players. Painting Competition The painting competition will be for any single Wyrd miniature. The judging will be based on the criteria used for the Single Figure category at Gen Con. If you have entered the same model for this year’s Rotten Harvest contest, it will not be eligible for this competition. Wyrd has also agreed to provide some generous prize support for this competition, and the competition entries will be photographed and sent to Wyrd. They might even end up in the next issue of the Wyrd Chronicles. There will be prizes for the top 3 models. Costume Contest That’s right, I said costume contest. There’s been plenty of interest in this idea, so we’re going to make it happen. (What can I say? The F.A.I.L. officers just can’t say no to such a fun idea.) Will you come dressed as your favorite Malifaux model, a character from the fluff, or maybe something from the coloring book? Have fun, be creative, and show us just how Wyrd you can be. For more information, and to register for a spot in the tournament, please PM me or visit the Malifaux section of the F.A.I.L. forums.
  9. the Ronins start to shine in the upper end of Scraps. At 30 or less, if you're running Viktorias + Ronins, you're probably looking at just a few Ronins and your master(s). You could throw in the Convict Gunslinger too, but taking some of the other mercs puts you at a really small soulstone pool that I like to avoid with Viktoria. Viktorias with stones are just plain scary since they are almost guaranteed to be hitting you multiple times. Let the Viktorias do their damage, then let Bishop charge in with :malimasks so he can hit, toss, and hit again. You can protect your twins AND kill almost anything this way. Even Seamus hates being surrounded like that, especially if you can throw in Misaki and/or Taelor poking through a gap between the bases.
  10. you expected more from someone who doesn't even exist?
  11. That witchling snaps all the time (left hand is the one with nothing in it holding up fingers, yes?). Out of teh 20+ I had for Gen Con classes, I know I pinned at least 2 with staples, and my personal models that I bought in '07 had the same issue. Not sure why that one has to have all the problems, but Nathan's the man when it comes to making things right. He's also the man when it comes to prize support.
  12. Ronins are likely to be female sculpts. At least that was the rumor. Like Goblyn said, a Convict Gunslinger would be huge in that list. He's mean, and he packs a great punch with his paired pistols. He's also great at card/board control. I like the idea of Killjoy for the Terror, but who are you going to kill for him? Misaki is a great model. I'm personally biased towards Taelor (Cb 7, 3:malimelee, 3/4/6, and Melee Expert means she's not someone you want in your face), but I definitely have a soft spot in my heart for Misaki. With a potential 6" range, she can hit you without fear and dart away, hit you harder than you expected, or even hit you so hard that pieces of you fly off and hurt other people (so much cooler than just thinking about the thunder and lightning).

    Teddy

Wyrd doesn't do green previews. Nathan's just not a fan. I'm waiting for Teddy, too. I've been waiting for that cuddly bastard for a while.
  14. Switch crews with them for a game or two. start showing them how to throw out those cards and when to cheat with their own crews. they'll start to get it. And once they do, the light will not come on with a dimmer switch. it will be night and day. Switch Masters yourself, as well. Show them why they want to cheat down in some situations to get off a trigger. When I play with Marcus, I cheat Wild Heart quite often, even though I only need a 3+ of any suit. I'll happily replace an off-suit 7 with a 4:malitomes because it gets me another ability. If you're not going to change the Fate result for a duel, replacing an 8:malicrows with a 6:malirams is almost always a better situation with a Guild model because of the plethora of :malirams triggers there.
  15. when looking at the Krylon selaers, they have a few different matte sealers. make sure you get 1311. dead flat, just like dullcote.
  16. Greg, that Seamus is the hotness. It's a good thing you're judging the painting contest with me.
  17. and, in case you're still wondering, all minions in a faction will work for any of the masters. the only things that are restricted are the master-specific totems.
  18. But don't forget, Lady J hates being turned into a beast.
  19. The Ramos box is really easy for new players to use if they aren't opposed to the concept of having their own models getting removed to deal damage to the enemy. Luckily, those models can be "recycled" without too much effort. Nicodem has a solid box as well. Even without Mindless Zombies, he's got Fog, Bolster Undead, and Decay. Punk Zombies are dangerous in melee and with Self-Mutilate. And who doesn't enjoy getting to be the cigar smoking man swinging a big shovel? Both sets are really good for demos. I'm still partial to the Ortegas vs. Seamus and Co. for demos. If you're willing to play the Gremlins, let the other player use the Ortegas, too. Everyone can laugh at the Gremlins, and the Ortegas have a little bit of everything to show off.
  20. He's right about that one. Oops. Great tool for people who just can't keep numbers in their head, though. I know a few people who might find this one useful.
  21. It's not like he's a super chump in the first place. He'll take a good whack or two.
  22. Werecat's got it in 1. If you've got the Mercenary trait, and no other restrictions (Alyce), you're free to be hired into a crew for +1 SS. The Gunslinger's a great model, and he fits really well into a lot of crews. He'll add a bit of range to the Resurrectionists, but he's not nearly as static as Hans.
  23. I like what jmp_mydog has going on. Schemes are schemes. it might be a personal vendetta, or reflect on-going tensions between the factions (or players). The strategies are the meat of things, so they should be distributed as fairly as possible, which includes making them as random as possible instead of cherry picking opponents to get an advantage. Of course, every gaming group will do things differently when it comes to multiplayer games with rules written from the perspective of one-on-one games.
