  1. When you clean them though, do you just kind of run them along the bottom of your water dish or what do you do? I tend to dip them in and stroke them across the bottom before taking them out and padding them on a paper towel. Conditioner - never thought about that. Might have to try that next time!
  2. New Miniature from Moonlight Miniatures (a sponsor of the Wyrd Painting Contest). Interesting new miniature and one that I like - has a good bit of character. I'm not sure about what he has in his hand though, whether it is a fetish, bloody skull or a lantern. Ah - just read its a lantern of souls. Anyhow, I like it and at $4.00USD, not a bad price! http://moonlightmini.com/ The mysterious figure known only as KANE has been sighted on the Islands. His true origin has long been lost in a shroud of myth and conjecture. He exists now as though a phantom, except he is flesh and blood. He knows no fear. Death offers him no solace. It is naught but an empty promise, for even after the most grievous and mortal of wounds, he must rise again. Broken, bloody and beaten, he slinks away to mend his injuries, again and again. His prison is his own flesh; his sentence is eternity. He carries a Lancaster Four Barrel Pistol and a myriad of amulets and trinkets collected over the course of 1,000 lifetimes. Among these trinkets is the Lantern of Souls. Thought to have been fashioned during the Great Upheaval by Sarakiel herself, it is said to have the power to draw the wayward spirits of the children of the Fallen and bind them in its boundless repository, ridding the world of their stain and corruption. It is rumored that he hunts these most vile of blasphemers and profaners to attempt to atone for some ancient horrible sin and receive redemption. Or perhaps he merely seeks one final death... his own.
  3. Thanks to both of you for taking the time to explain some of this. I tend to be rough on my brushes, or atleast I must be, as they seem to go to shiat very quickly. I just put in an order for 1-2-3 sized DaVinci brushes, though I'm not sure if I'll actually pick up the last one until I get an eyeball at it. How do you go about cleaning them? I wonder sometimes if I'm too rough on them then.
  4. Ultraforge came on the scene about six months back and has been making some extrodinary resin cast miniatures of a larger scale. Their newest one, the Giant, goes on sale September 12th. Very nice.
  5. Yup, liking them myself - not all of them, but enough that I might just have to go for that 'package deal'.
  6. I don't think he messed with her ankles at all - I'll have to look at the old one to be sure though. Either way, I don't have either of these, though I must say that I am tempted to pick them up.
  7. I have GW, Vallejo and a few Reaper Masters and use them all pretty equally, but find that I like the dropper bottles a lot more than the pots which tend to either stick on me or dry out because I didn't screw the top on just right (though I like the new pop top on the GW stuff). That said, I have a problem with some of my Vallejo's where the writing on the labels seem to disapear rather easily so I find myself wondering what the hell color I've got (after I shake the heck out of it) and I've had two (out of 30) that have the dropper tops come off every time I open the things, which is mildly annoying and somewhat messy if I'm not paying attention. MY GW and Vallejo stuff I thin pretty well, and although I haven't used it too much yet, the Reaper Masters seem to need very little thinning and have a higher pigment ratio which seems to go on rather nice.
  8. http://mandragoreminiatures.free.fr/sitemandragore.htm Very nice site, and Gael offered to support the contest once his line is up and running and I must say I'm pleased about that. Great stuff there.
  9. Thanks Sakura. Yeah, I found them the other night myself - but the whole problem is the lack of pictures. I never bother buying something I can't see and I can't believe anyone else would either. I've been doing some looking up of stuff but its rather hard to locate a lot of this and CMON seems to not have much (or its all named 'another miniature'). As a matter of fact, I started to find some of them on the Iron Wind Metals site which has taken over the Ral Partha line and found a couple of them on the site, but they aren't designated even remotely close to what they once were, thus making it very difficult to find, so much so that I just 'gave up' in the end. Thanks for taking a few moments to look for me!
  10. Cool, glad to know I'm not the only one that things Sandra's sculpting is sub-par at best. Really doesn't do anything for me, any of her stuff, and I still wonder why she is such a 'name' in the industry besides the fact that she's been in it for so very long. Now Gael's dragon - wow. That is a kickin' beast and would tempt the hell out of me (hrrmmmm ... thinking .... and some of you know what I mean by that ...) :hat:
  11. Reaper Miniatures is releasing a new box set dragon that stands at 7.5 inches and has a 12 inch wingspan, sculpted by Sandra Garrity. Personally - bleah. Not one of their better dragons in my opinion.
  12. http://www.pizazz.info/pizazz.mov I warned you. It's .... frightning!
  13. Considering the recent gas prices here in the states due to the Hurricane Katrina disaster, I found this rather hillarious. And my apologies to animal lovers up front - but I woke up the family last night when I saw this one.
  14. Hello Tony, welcome to the forums and thanks for the compliment on the site. If you have anything you think (or any of you for that matter!) will make this a better place, lemme know. -Nathan
  15. Hey Jim, glad to see you made it to the boards! Now ... what can you do about my phone bill? :goodbad:
  16. Hey folks, I'm on the hunt for some of the more 'halloweenie' Crucible miniatures that was put out by Ral Partha back in ... oh .. 2000-2002 I suppose. I just got my hands on one (thanks Maya) and I'm really rather impressed with it and I would like to see some more. Any place that has a catalog online for them or even sales them anymore? While I'm at it, is there a spot on this side of the pond that doesn't charge you an arm and a leg to get ahold of some of the Monolith miniatures, particularly the Gothic Horror and the Vampire Wars line? I saw a couple of really kickin' miniatures in that line that would be great for the Halloween theme of this next contest, such as the scarecrows, pumpkin heads and a few other interesting figure. Not the greatest quality - but full of character.
  17. Ah, I see now. Very pale green, I think it gets lost a bit in the picture though I think it must look very nice in person.
  18. DSA ... what is DSA? And those pets, did you have Fish-Dog do those for you? Seem to remember a thread where he did something like that. Anyhoo, I like them both, though the naked woman on the bottom is the better of the two in my opinion. Looks like you used a clear resin or water affects for the water that she is in .. ? Nice work!
  19. I agree, the color combination is very nice, and the freehand adds that extra little bit that makes this a nice miniature. As for the eyes, I think he looks a bit 'fey' overall with the very angular face and the top picture does make the eyes seem a bit funny, but I think that is due to the glare of the light on it.
  20. Now THAT is nice! I haven't picked up any of the Dragyri but I think I might just have to pull the ol' wallet out (damn, it heard me and is already whimpering) and fork out some for these fellas'. Nice work - not sure about the blade/whatever thing on the head, but beside that, I like it very much.
  21. I do as well, but folks seem to like shout boxes so I try to provide (smile)! After I get a few more things squared away here over the next week or so, I'll turn my attention towards the chat room indicator and see if I can muddle up something. Everything else running in good shape? Any one have any other thoughts or suggestions?
  22. Hey Sakura, glad to see you prowling the forums. Yeah, my wife and I are far from geniuses, believe me. At best, I can say that I skipped two grades when I was younger but that was likely due more to my mothers attention to schooling me than any inherent gene and these days, I feel like a right idiot (I blame drugs in high school damnit - and I'm sticking to that story!). I doubt we have the little geniuses that pop out of College at twelve with two masters degrees, but I do hope, that we've got some that find learning a breeze and find a way to challenge them properly. We'll see though - like I said, we're in Georgia - not too difficult to be a freakin' genius down here. :tongue2:
  23. Turning 18 - congratulations and happy birthday! :bdayparty
  24. I went ahead and added a section for rules and feedback and moved the thread to the proper location. Meant to do it the other night but things have been busy. Yup, good idea and I think I can manage that with a module hack down the road though I'll have to look into it and see what I can dredge up before I start playing with the code (or get someone to do it for me!) I figured the chat room would be a good idea once the site received a bit more traffic and folks wanted to move from the shoutbox into the chat room or possibly run an online game in a privately made room as I'm looking to add a 'dice roller' option to chat room here in the future to see how well, if at all, it is received. Anyhow, feel free to shoot suggestions, I'm always on the lookout to make things more interesting here.
