Critical Strike

DramosDarkstorm

Question

Hello all, new to Malifaux and have a super basic question about Final Duel Total. My friend is saying that triggers work off your final duel totals, however when it refers to the final duel total it uses both players duels.

So for example he says that to trigger Critical Strike you must have at least 1 ram suit in your duel attack total, but the amount of bonus damage is +1 for each ram in your duel total and the opponents total because it states "final duel total". So if the attacker had a passive ram and flipped a "9 ram" vs a "3 ram", the attack would have three +1s for all the rams. However I believe it only counts your attack duel total so it should be two +1s. Second, does the damage flip add to the duel total if you flip a ram in the damage stage?

Thank you all

Yeah just to re-iterate and put is simply.

A Simple Duel is when you flip and your opponent doesn't, a Horror Duel is a good example of this.

An Opposed Duel is when you and your opponent flip against each other. Once both players final duel totals have been sorted out (after cheating ect) you then total up your Stat + Card value and any suits. So for example

Lady J swings her sword and flips a 10 of  :ram giving her a duel total of Ml 7 :ram + 10  :ram = 17  :ram :ram. Her opponent has Df 6 and flips an 11 of  :ram for a total of 17 :ram. The opponents chooses not to cheat so Lady J cheats in an 11 of  :mask making her final duel total 18 :ram:mask. The final duel totals are now decided, as Lady J has won the duel she declares Critical Strike and gains +1 Damage for the  :ram she has in her final duel total.
