  1. Thanks for the comments, and the tips on other models, too. I like the idea of a Charlie Brown crew. Sounds like the perfect theme for The Dreamer... hmm.
  2. The three-day weekend allowed me to finish my latest crew. These guys have been sitting on my painting desk since last summer. They were supposed to be done in time for Halloween, for obvious reasons, but I got sidetracked by an awesome season of Blood Bowl (and adding the Krakow Pox to my collection). But now, finally, my gruesome group of gourds is ready to storm Malifaux and twist all those foolish opponents to Zoraida's will. Of course, this crew was planned before the recent tournament guidelines release by Wyrd in which they disallow most non-Wyrd conversions. Not that I'm a tourney player, but still a bummer. Now that the mistress of the swamp is done to go along with my Pandora crew, I believe I'll be painting up The Dreamer next. Zoraida and the Voodoo Doll The witch is from Reaper, while the doll is an ancient familiar figure from Games Workshop (I added the pins). And yes, that's a tramp-stamp of the Neverborn mask on her ass. Slippery when wet! Stitched Togethers I suppose these could be Silurids as well, which I like using, but I love the Stitcheds and they fit the Doll theme much better. Plus, these guys look like they could really stuff someone inside their gourdly bellies. These are also Reaper figures. Bad Juju Another great pumpkin figure from Reaper, this guy is a real beast and perfect to use as BJ. Beware the Great Pumpkin! Wicked Dolls More Reaper figs? Yep! In case you didn't know this, Reaper makes tons of awesome figures, and in particular they have whole lines of themes that other companies don't even dare to touch (they even have evil snowmen). These guys are for fielding when Zoraida starts cranking out her Doll factory. Collodi I've always loved Zoraida, but when I saw Collodi in Rising Powers, that sealed the deal. Easily my favorite new guy (though Coppelius is a close second). This is a figure from the now-defunct Confrontation line, which has several extremely good sculpts in it. The green guy is my conversion of Primordial Magic. That's my favorite totem, but I don't like the Wyrd figure at all (a puking worm??). So I made my own from the Flame Base Accessories kit. Fielding Collodi allows me to use the PM with him while Zoraida is busy stitching Dolls together. Collodi's Marionettes These guys are the reason this entire crew came to be. They are the out-of-print Pixie Trixters from Rackham. Awesome, awesome figures, and as soon as I laid eyes on them I knew I had to make a pumpkin crew. The very next day I stumbled upon all the Reaper pumpkin figures and I knew it was destined to be. There are actually only three Trixters. The fourth figure (the one with Zoraida's hands holding the pin and doll), is a conversion I made from various parts. That's it for now! Thanks for looking and any comments are appreciated (including strategic advice). I want to paint up Hamelin to add to this group (just to be really annoying), and then it'll probably be the little boy and his playful friends...
  3. We went with Gunfighter. Whatevs. Guess it makes up for The Pandora's Box snafu, and certainly led to a lot of entertainment.
  4. Hmm, strange about Perdita. I know The Box Opens nullifies Immune to Influence, but for some reason I thought Perdita had another power that made her immune to losing her immunity (in typical Wyrd-cyclical ways). Am I thinking of another Master?
  5. First game in months last night against a friend and his Perdita inbreds, and it was a real hoot-n-holler. We used the new mini-rulebook, which helped enormously as it is much cleaner and easier to reference than two rulebooks and stacks of errata. Early on Perdita and Santiago strolled out confidently and blasted Baby Kade and an Insidious Madness into dust. It's a real pain in the ass when you miss Perdita (Df 8!!) and then she kills you for it (Quicker Than You). But soon after Pandora brought the pain and misery as she made Abuela feel sick to her stomach for forcing a marriage and bringing the Executioner into the Family. The only way out was to turn her shotgun on herself - in spectacular fashion as she flipped the Red Joker for damage and took herself out in one shot as well as the naive young Austringer standing beside her (within template range). BOOM goes the dynamite, as they say. The Family took revenge on more Madnesses and Pandora's Sorrows, who died protecting their mistress, but it was Pandora who reflected the overwhelming guilt back onto them, causing the Executioner, Nino, and Santiago to kill themselves with Self-Loathing. At that point it was Pandora, Candy, and Primordial Magic, all of whom use Wp in all of their attacks, versus Perdita, who is Immune to Influence and has the previously mentioned Df 8 (!!!). It was up to Candy to turn on her Charm, which Perdita is ALSO immune to, but does make her succumb to those irresistible Sours. And thus it was a slow, but sweet, death for Perdita as she gorged herself on Poisonous treats each turn and finally died a sweet, sugary death. During that time Pandora foolishly wandered out from hiding, thinking she could contribute to the melee frenzy somehow, and was summarily blasted by Perdita. Final Score: Pandora's Company of Misery: 2 VPs (Slaughter) Perdita's Family of Inbreds: 1 VP (some sort of cheaty scheme)
  6. I have this stuff I'd like to trade for any unpainted Arcanists other than Collette (and crew). Leveticus Crew (Levi, all 3 Hollow Waifs, Rusty Alyce, all 4 Steampunk Abominations, and a Desolation Engine) EDIT: forgot to post that this crew is bare metal GW Blood Angels (all NIB) Astrorath the Grim, Death Company (1 box), Baal Predator, plus some extra bitz Thanks!
  7. ...the Performer and Mannequin? Even after paying for High Class, you're still getting two good models for 4SS each. The Performer can cause virtually limitless WP tests (Irresistible, Mesmerizing, and all her spells), while the Mannequin is pretty tough (Object 2, Armor +3), and can both use Soulstones and let the Performer use SS. Just a thought, but I believe mastering the use of these two could cause some serious carnage with a Pandora crew. My second place vote goes to Stitched Together. For 5 SS that guy can cause up to 6 WP tests in a turn, it's got WP 6, and all those Gamble Your Lifes can churn out some serious damage!
  8. Very nice work. The base effect turned out excellent, that perfect mix of water and earth to imbue "swampiness."
  9. That's awesome! You're very talented.
  10. Funny story: Malifaux was the first game to bring me out of my multi-year long painting funk and get me excited about new models in a very long time. So excited that my first thought was, "I don't need to convert anything! It's all already awesome!" But then I settled on playing the Pandora Crew and the only model I wasn't happy with was... Pandora. So I decided to convert her. I love the Taelor model and I thought the blend of Pandora's Avatar form with Taelor's body worked well. (click the pics for bigger pics) Baby Kade is one my favorite models in the entire Malifaux line. After two years of leaving my brushes idle I have a bit of rust in the fingers, but Baby Kade is the one model in my crew that I'm thoroughly satisfied with. Candy is my favorite member of the crew based on rules, and the model is nice, but the oversized head and eyes don't thrill me. Still, painting the candy canes was fun. Teddy... what can you say about a giant, fang-filled teddy bear that a picture doesn't already tell you? Another of the models that sucked me into the Wyrd world of Malifaux. The Poltergeist is a nice model, and one I felt obligated to paint as part of the crew, though I much prefer using Primordial Magic. Trouble is, the figure for PM is ghastly - and not in a good way. So I often use ol' Poltey as PM. The Doppleganger, on the other hand, is a beautiful model and a lovely piece of any Neverborn crew. I like the Sorrows models, and I love the way they work with Pandora. It took me a couple of games to get the hang of using everything together in a cohesive plan, but once I did I knew I would need more than three! So I added another three using the Apparitions models from the Twisted line. And the Apparitions... That's my crew, thanks for checking it out. I'm eager to add an Insidious Madness and Coppelius when the models arrive. Until then, I'll start work on my Zoraida crew. Dolls, lovely Dolls! -JollyOrk http://www.OrdoFanaticus.com
