Joining the Rezzers - McMourning

It all depends on what and how you want to play McMourning. Personally, his box is lame. The only things you will use the most out of it is McM and the Flesh Construct.

If you are planning on doing the cut up dogs turn 1 trick, I actually advise against that as first turn is the most important for getting your crew where it needs to be to complete your strategy and schemes.

As for a starter crew for him, here are some minions to consider.

*Zombie Chiuaua: for 1ss, its a good way for McM to get 2 body parts turn 1 without wasting time mucking about in your deployment zone.

*Rotten Belles: These minions always find a spot or two in a crew, their utility and board control abilities are unparalled at a Ca 8 when casting Lure. They are tough as nails to for a 4ss minion.

*Punk Zombies: These guys bring the pain. very nice combat specialists.

*Drowned: Floating landmines with some cool board control abilites.

*Night Terrors: Probably one of if not the best objective grabbers in the game. Fast, spirit, hard to kill, and capable of destoying, planting, surviving. etc.

Hope this helps.

I think the core of any McMourning list is always:

Starter Set

x2 Canine Remains (4 dogs total)

Zombie Chihuahua

Rogue Necromancy

That gives you a nice starting crew, and then you can just experiment with different models to fill any holes you feel are there. Also don't forget to try out his Avatar.

Thanks for the comments.

I was thinking that I was going to use McMourning as a summoner rather than more-front line.

So, from what I've read so far, its probably in my best interest to pick up the McMourning Box (because I think a Nurse will find it's way into my crew sometimes) and the Seamus Box (might as well).

If I have to choose between getting an additional Flesh Construct and a Rogue Necromancy, what would you suggest?

I wouldn't use McMouring as a summoner per se. Yes he can summon alot, but really all you'll ever want is a Flesh Construct and a Rogue Necromancy. Sebastian can make more Canine remains and guild autopsies aren't that useful.

He belongs just slightly behind the front lines, but he is better in the thick of the action using Scalping Sling, Dissection and other goodies. I'd say in all honesty you will be summoning once or twice per game, and there are alot of strategies to summon on the first turn, and leave it at that.

Also, if your running McMourning I wouldn't bother buying the Seamus boxset yet, and instead devote all your energy (and money) towards building a solid McMourning crew.

I made the mistake of buying several crews, and in retrospect, I wish I could go back in time and just buy things necessary for fielding one specific crew, but with multiple options.

Edit

Also, you should only really need one Flesh Construct (rarely two) and definately only one Rogue Necromancy. Don't forget about his Avatar though. I've never seen it used, but reading about it, it seems like it could be very useful, and besides, it completes his theme :) .

Good to know. Thanks.

If I'm going to buy Belles (which, it seems is pretty recommended), it seems prudent just spend that little bit more to pick up Seamus' box and save on models I'll eventually get anyway.

Thanks. I'll prioritize the Rogue Necromancy then.

My group doesn't play with Avatars (yet) but it's definitely on my radar.

For me(And some others), McMourning is a straight up assassin. He cannot tank damage, but he can surely murder anything given the opportunity to jump on them.

I would not sit him in the back summoning if I were you. His Summoning(Aside from turn 1) is simply a nice bi-product of all the body parts you are collecting while you commit murder after murder. Just don't lead with him and have a care for what is activating after him.

Regarding Seamus boxset... IMO, its the best deal in the game(For rezzers). I use every model in it on a regular basis and not only with Seamus.

I also regularly have two flesh constructs out (Though one is usually about to die) and recently actually used my third. I summon them as frequently as I get parts for as meat shields that hit back... hard...

Like most people, I do not have a very good opinion of the nurses though. In their defense, I have not tried much with them though. Its just very hard to justify their cost.

McMournings avatar is very fun. My first few games with him, he did not matter and the manifestation was more like a cherry on top for a won game.

Then finally, I sort of clued into how to better use him, which is to use his manifestation itself as a weapon.

Holding off and dropping a Sim-29 on someone's head that is done activating and not ready for it is great. Especially if you are ready to soulstone next turn for first activation and effectively "double activate". While within 3 inches of one another they are absolutely murderous. McMournings "Crawling Doom" abiliity basically puts everything within 3 inches of him at :-fate for Wp and Df flips, which, honestly, means everything dies near him and sim-29 that you companion activate...

Really brutal. (And beautiful)

I for one think that McMourning is a good summoner but not to get more guy's out but to keep having Meat shield and Big Beat stick. I try has much has i can to out activate others. I Play often with dog's and use them with McMourning to go attack and fetch some corps. When they die that is when i get there parts.
