Webmonkey
I think the backside of the jacket may be a bit too thick though. Especially around the shoulders. I'm gonna try to thin that out a bit before baking.
Mako
Yeah, that seems wise. Pull the back and shoulders in a bit, remember the lower back will press against the clothing less so it might come in a bit more there too
Webmonkey
Alright,.. got the shoulder strap done. (might need a little fine tuning) and a rough shape blocked out for the left arm. Thoughts on shaping the arm? And what of the sleeve? Still trying to determine exactly how the fabric would fall. Especially in the crease of the elbow where it's likely to bunch up the most.
Mako
Ahh, fabric. The thing that really makes or breaks a lot of sculpts. I have a reference book, dynamic wrinkles and drapery by Burne Hogarth. It's pretty handy and really clever. Basically, it comes down to where is the fabric pulled against a body part, and the creases radiate from that point getting deeper as the fabric gets looser further away from that point. So with a raised arm, a long sleeve bunches on the top of the shoulder a little, pulls under the armpit, pulls at the top of the elbow and hangs a little under it, then hangs loose ish on the wrist but does pull on the upper edge a tiny bit. Working it all out is eye watering, if in doubt find the closest thing you have to what you're sculpting and pose in front of a mirror in it! Webmonkey
not to your level by any stretch,.. but it is vaugely resembling a human being, so i'm happy enough with it so far.
Mako
I've spent a lot of hours working this stuff out though. You're way above what my early stuff looked like! I mean, yours is recognisably human, while my first efforts... Well, they were human if you got drunk and squinted at them in a mirror. (which is definitely going to be troublesome)
Mako
Looking good, id maybe thin the wrists a touch though, theyre as thick as the ankles at the moment by the look of it!An easy tweak yhough snd might be worth doing once you put the hsnds on. Hands are tricky, especially open ones. I still switch to green stuff for them sometimes as it hold together easier. For the head, I'd say do the face and get that how you want it, bake that, then shape the rest of the head and ears. That makes it easier to get the right shape for the face as you don't distort it trying to sort the bulk of the skull
