Ice Mirror and Casting out of Melee

I was wondering if you might be able to help me. I was wondering earlier about Ice Mirror and its uses when the caster (e.g. Tina or Silent One) is locked in melee combat.

Can the caster use Ice mirror to cast a ranged attack spell (decembers curse for example) back at the combat by chaining it through an ice mirror within 6" ?

I would say no, as you're still engaged and therefore cannot use ranged attacks, the limit has to do with the casting model being engaged, not los, which is all ice mirror grants

Yup, same like Vultures' Eyes and Ears, right? The very thing you speak about is what prevents the caster from using these spells in melee.

As long as the caster is in melee, he cannot cast the spells with icon, period. Where he draws LoS or range from doesn't matter. Fluffy explanation: Too busy fighting to focus on the long-range-grade magic.

If it was the Totem using Magical Extension to cast the same spell, it would be fine because the Totem is the caster then (not in melee) and it is merely borrowing the master's spell.
