Wren
A lot of people recommend full spectrum light to paint and photograph, and quite aside from the issues of colour cast and such, the full spectrum bulbs are cooler than regular incandescent bulbs. Joann's craft store periodically has all the Ott Lite brand products on sale for 50% off, and this is one of those occasions. http://www.joann.com/catalog.jhtml?CATID=113710&rId=EM011007HTHEME1. I have the mini fold-up Ott Lite for traveling, but mainly I use a Daylight Lamp (http://www.joann.com/catalog.jhtml?CATID=113711&PRODID=66068). The gooseneck is great for getting the light exactly where I want for both painting and photographing. I paint with it inches from my head and never get hot, and it's a nice bright light. I took the magnifier off years ago, though, that wasn't particularly useful for me. That lamp isn't on sale right now, but if there's something you like at Joann's other than Ott Lites (glues, storage bins, etc.), they also have a 50% off the regular price of any one online item coupon right now, use promo code JANE750 in your online basket.
