  1. the only issue is that staggered is a lot more than just the negative to speed, no friendly pushes, and vs move attacks are better, but even then it only effects the walk and charge actions so it still doesnt really do much of the same, you'd have to change staggered and have a game full 'o collateral or make a new condition to touch that

OK I must’ve missed a memo, because while I see the card in the app, I can’t figure out where to get the pirate Zipp mini. I blame the Brine and Bones box for my newfound PirateFaux obsession.

its not out yet, and likely wont be for quite some time

Thanks for the replies everyone, just one last question are the Scheme & strategy markers both 30mm too?
I have also downloaded the app for the cards & builder.

not all strats are 30mm, it specifies 30, 40, 50 on each of em, though 30 is the most common, and if a strat doesnt say its size, its 30 (all schemes are 30 though)

Thank Adran for the reply. Just a couple of other questions, I have the M1E fate deck & guild Arsenal box are these still ok to use?

Fate decks are just decks, so yes, but guild arsenal box does not work, as the editions have been complete overhauls, but all cards are free via the app and Dropbox

As for markers, and 30, 40, 50 mm circle'll do

Idk if ES is a good measuring stick. But I think old Somer wouldn't be too crazy, given the Summoning changes. I think no defensive Bayou Two Card is okay.

i think no defensive two card is underselling how much they shot that ability, making it once per turn per model but only on one of two actions max and only while within 6 of somer
(because its once per activation, only on their activation)

  6. I don't think uncompetitive cheap models is entirely an issue we have much, most below 7 do get an acceptable amount of use, theres 32 of those and you maybe don't often see 6, it's just that cheap units tend to be more niche

  7. I forgot about this one thread, but if your still struggling here's the response from the guy currently running the module "This will be addressed in 3c, but 3b requires specifically 3.6.2 to work properly.  Just waiting on a couple more additions before pushing 3c" so you'd need to downgrade to vassal 3.6.2 for now

  8.  For context to most being desexualized, to my (very tired) memory, there are only 6 masters where we have anything about love life

    Kirai (Francis)

    Justice (something with OG judge?)

    Mei and Ivan

    Maxine (Orville)

And maaaaybe youko, who runs the qi and gong

but the only ones actively elaborated on are Maxine and kirai  so it really is basically everyone, and I'm not sure there's more than a few none one-off characters either

  9. I find this to be an extremely odd viewpoint towards this, almost everyone within malifaux has been desexualized, it's just very rarely important, id argue Yan lo is not an example of that-- you don't become the ancestor of that many people by just sitting back

And with mei despite the few appearances of her and Ivan it's really hard to explain just how much of a subplot it actually is, practically non-existent if you aren't paying full attention especially compared to everything else she does

And kirai worked at a brothel who's main clientele is white guys (because it's in malifaux and the ratio of Asian to everything else there is very low cause it's not real world geography, the breach is in Santa Fe, not china or japan)  when she fell in love with one of her clients... Is them being with white guys just the issue? Because there's more that aren't than are like misaki

  10. If you don't like bubble crews, just don't play em, I don't, but plenty of people quite enjoy em

but the way I see it malifaux has a number of standard ranges for auras but i think alot of it has to do with giving your opponent counterplay

3 for the truly terrible terrible, having a bunch of 3" auras (like bayou bash) basically pits you in shockwave distance permenantly or if an enemy is in range of the model your buffing your unlikely to be far off (among many other notes ofc but brevity)

6 is probably the most important because it's the peak of a lot of actions and abilities, at 6 you are within almost every models charge range (5 mv + "1 melee) if you are buffing a model and someone with a standard gun (12") is within 6 of that you are still in range so both ways you can't just have that aura up without having some risk to the model with the aura(theoretically ofc, LOS rules can hinder ranged, also brevity)

8+ most attack ranges drop off, you have significantly more room to utalize terrain, ect, just increasing a lot of the auras to 8 without touching much else would likely take a lot from malifaux regardless of how "tedious" 6" can see, atleast, I'd think so.

  11. I am... Unsure where to even start with that

I guess just by saying that's a very skewed view? Masters aren't gods nor should they be treated as such especially in a game when you want the entire crew to potentially be impactful, lynch2 might feel like a more powerful illuminated but that's because he basically is lore-wise, and with him came more tools to make the crew better and effectively puts huggy as the master instead supporting the thematics. So I don't particularly think that's fair

If you don't like bubbling there are a ton of crews who are independent, I'd argue that's more often the case than not, maybe you just keep playing crews that arent mostly independent?

And I *really* do not appreciate all the claims of "low effort" imo it just speaks to an incredible level of ignorance to just how much can go into the process of actually balancing things, a lot of the reason numbers did have to get tuned down is not because it's easy, but because it becomes unmanageable after a bit of time otherwise, like if you try and min max 3.5 (god, making challenging encounters for that is just the worst thing) or 2e but Ultimately a lot of this as far I can tell is just the numbers aren't big enough, cause I don't take any less fun because of it myself (so in my opinion it's meaningless as far as real criticism goes but that's fine)

Another question arose that we think we may be playing incorrectly. Does a model need to fully clear a severe marker to begin full movement? I guess the real question is, does it take 4 inches of movement for a 50mm to clear a 50mm pitfall terrain or would it be 8 inches to clear because part of the model would still be in the pitfall terrain?

    I'm sorry if that's confusing.

until the model is no longer in contact with the severe, so the latter

A question arose about defensive reactions, in this case Kaeris' ignite in response to a ranged attack from a unit with stealth.

Are reaction abilities considered targeted? Would the stealth prevent Ignite from triggering? Thanks everyone!

For clarity, you mean defensive triggers?

And no, they are not targeted so you can declare it against the stealthed guy

I've always assumed that the general GW fluff disclaimer is in effect here - these are things that the people writing the reports in universe believe happened.  They are probably based on actual events.  So the Ultramarines truly believe their chapter master fought a Daemon Prince 1 on 1 and came out victorious.  It might be that almost no one else in their entire universe thinks this happened, but they wrote it and believe it as a true story.

"And then the Gremlins ate my entire crew!  Those gremlins, they eat people out there in the bayou!" is exactly the time to apply this disclaimer.

I don't think that's the case here, the one with going to a bar and beating von schill was critical to another story that happened I'm pretty sure

    Hello dear community.

I'm really not sure how that plays out and in the Resser forum I did read both opinions.

So let's say the Corpse Curator is within the 8" aura "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" of McM2. A Guild Autopsy is ending its activation within 2" of the Corpse Curator. Because of "Animated Corpse" the Corpse Curator can be treated as Corpse Marker for the "Loot their Corpse" ability of the Guild Autopsy. Since that would remove the Corpse Marker "Animated Corpse" states that "... it [the Corpse Curator] instead suffers 2 irreducible damage."

Now the question. Does this satisfy the requirements for McM2s Aura "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" so that now a Corpse Counter can be dropped?

no, because no marker was removed, curator was just used like a marker

Collodi - Little in the way of story leading up to the end of collodi. I have no real idea why he went, except I must admit I have never liked the way Collodi played. I didn't mind the concept of a toy puppet who was a master puppeteer but I didn't like the implementation they did in either first or second edition. You could view that Neverborn already had multiple masters that controlled people and so could afford to lose one.

My personal theory on "why collodi" (especially after having read the lore) is that he's effectively a stiff brick lore wise, given the direction wyrd has decided to take Neverborn in the last 4 books (a psuedo split faction fighting itself) to me collodi always just seemed to exist, unable to properly be slotted in anywhere so they took him out (for now, and now that Lucius has him I can see him gaining some kinda trajectory)

But with his removal they added Euripides, who they got into lore relevance real quick

The manual says at P.23 under Demage reduction paragraph 2: "Reduction may not decrease the total damage amount below 1 unless otherwise stated..."

Until today I thought Armor do decrease the Damage to zero if it is high enough. The reason for that is the wording "reduce all damage...".

But now I saw the the Incorperal ability which uses the same wording but it says also "...to a minimum of 0".

Now I assume that armor don't decrease the damage to zero.

    Am I right?

That is correct, and is why heavy ping damage (1 damage many times) is a good counter to armor!

    Hi all

I played Malifaux pretty extensively in 1st edition and dabbled briefly in 2nd. I'm looking to start trying to get a few games in and just wondering what I need rules wise to get (re) started.

Probably looking at running ironside (whose original crew I have sat unplayed), or Lynch, assuming that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance for any information or advice.

Rules wise? Nothing, there's an app called the crew builder that has everything you need including the rulebook, and all the cards for free, both on the wyrd website under the apps section, and on phones (ofc)

Past that I'd recommend joining the official discord as people tend to be far more actively chatting over than and super open to answering any questions you may have

is it a case of gremlins can go anywhere as long as they arnt causing trouble?

They can but it's the same deal as seeing a goblin walking around in other settings, even if that goblins not starting crap to most it would be a fair assumption to assume they're about theyre about to, luckily for gremlins though they don't seem to be seen as being as inately hostile

just cos i heard malifaux buys a LOT of pork off them so trhere must be gremlin traders

I don't remember if I'm pulling this out of my ass or not, but I think most of that's handled in edge point, a city at the edge of the bayou where gremlins are mostly welcomed and there's a train going back to malifaux city for transport

and yeah tales of malifaux on breachside broadcast everyone just stares at him, gthe guard the merchents the ticket vendor the snack guy lol

I can't remember exactly but I believe the city he went to was edge point, not malifaux itself, however gremlins arent so much banned from malifaux as widely shunned, but their have been gremlins going around freely
