This is exactly what my very first Parker2 list looked like. Great minds!

I eventually moved to cutting the Prospectors for a higher starting cache and one more workhorse/scheming/support model (that final choice after the Mad Dog, Benny, Pearl, Emissary core is pretty flexible and I vary it by pool) but I don't think the Prospectors are a poor choice by any means.

I would lean away from bringing a small cache and one Prospector though. Two is ok, if you eat Pearl's marker turn one you should have a 6 stone cache to work with early and that should be fine, but this crew's front line lives via soulstones and healing and you really want to be able to burn stones to live through a strong alpha strike if necessary. 2-3 stones and one Prospector won't cut it. In my view you either go a big cache and one other model of choice or a small cache and two Prospectors. Small cache and one Prospector is too risky for me.

You're perfectly right, I'm still tryin to decide if I want the upgrade on Mad Dog and what could be worth in the list as a workhorse/runner. Thought about Ashes&Dust, Midnight Stalker, Wokou Raider(s) and so on, but nothing seems to convince me.

Anyways, I'd cut at least one Prospector 'cause two feel like a weak spot and the crew needs more variety in my opinion.

  2. Hey guys, coming back after a while and still trying to wrap my head around Outcasts and ES choices. Always loved my Parker, so I wanna give a try to Parker2 in an upcoming tournament. What do you think about this?

    PERDITION SPAM (Outcasts)
    Size: 50 - Pool: 3
    Leader:
      Parker Barrows, Dead Man Walking
    Totem(s):
      Doc Mitchell
    Hires:
      Benny Wolcomb
      Hodgepodge Emissary
      Mad Dog Brackett
      Pearl Musgrove
      Prospector
      Prospector 2
    References:
      Malifaux Rat
      Memento
      Pretty Floral Bonnet
      Vitality Potion

3SS cache seems so low but honestly I don't know what to take out.

Really good list but i would swap the 2nd FWC onto the other botanist to let you fully make the most of the once per game ability

Unfortunately I've already uploaded the list in the game, but sure, that would be great. Thanks for the tip!

For Guard the Stash I would take 3 Botanists as a start. If run McCabe2 they will be Df 7 with a -1 stat to enemy attacks near them if there is a relic around. That will give them a lot of staying power for hanging around a stash marker or if you want to use them for Catch or Public Demonstration.

I really like Desper into the pool/matchup. He’s mobile enough to run schemes and can run down a lot of problematic model for you.

I would also recommend looking at the Corpse Curator. It can count as a scrap marker for card draw with Looted Supplies, to get out relics with McCabe and Luna, and with its Cursed Sludge can hand out poison and make enemies with poison not be engaged, which can be useful for McCabe2 shooting or allowing your models to charge/walk away from enemies.

McCabe2 gives out stunned stunned to anything he damages with his gun, so he can get a lot value popping a shot into a model that relies heavily on its triggers. He can give out focused to all friendly wastrels in a 5” range with a trigger when he digs up a relic, which will help a lot with his gun into rezzers.

Another thing to be aware of is that he can generate a scrap off of another wastrel with the trigger on Take What You Can Carry, so he can make his on scrap for when he wants to make a relic if he has another wastrel around.  Luna is a handy target for this on turn 1-2

Hucksters are definitely worth considering. The stash markers are blocking, so a Huckster can jump from marker to marker with Secret Passage, making them extremely mobile.  They would also be good for a late turn jump to get either Catch and Release of Public Demonstration. False Claim makes them good for getting Set the Trap and for getting or denying Leave Your Mark.

Rough Riders are helpful for mobility, healing, and potentially running down enemy scheme runners.

    Thanks dude, exactly my thoughts.

My list right now is something like this:
    5SS
    McCabe2 + FWC
    Luna
    Botanist + FWC
    Botanist
    Corpse Curator
    Cryptologist
    Huckster
    Sidir + TM

Lots of things to do, hope it can be a good starting point :D

I’m guessing from this you’re planning to play Relic Hunter McCabe?

For this pool, Botanists and Hucksters are good to have. Yan can very easily get 2 grow tokens on some Botanists quickly, and they’re tanky enough to be a good choice for both Public Demonstration and Catch and Release.

Hucksters activating late can be good for good for both of those schemes as well if the terrain is suitable for them to bounce around with Secret Passage. They can also pretty reliably get Set the Trap done by placing next to model(s) that have activated and dropping scheme markers with False Claim.  They can similarly threaten or deny Leave Your Mark this way.

I’ve actually had pretty decent success running 3 Botanists and 3 Hucksters in a crew, but I used McCabe’s new title when I did that.

Do you know what the strategy is or what your opponent is playing?  Also, do you have McCabe’s new title?

I would like to use McCabe2 honestly! Anyways, my opponent will play Molly and strategy will be Guard the Stash!

  6. Hey guys, coming back after a long pause.

Do you have any tips, suggested models, etc, to play McCabe in ES? I'm going to play a game tomorrow (Guard the Stash) and I wanted to play my all-time favourite (used to play him in Guild and 10T during M2E and in 10T till my stop from the game).

    This is the pool:
    - Vendetta
    - Catch and Release
    - Leave your Mark
    - Public Demonstration
    - Set the Trap

    Thanks in advance!

I mean that build is basically exactly what makes Hamelin so strong on Recover Evidence. Opponents get to choose between putting tokens on Rat Kings, which will kill themselves turn one to summon Rat Catchers and extra rats and thus drop the tokens in the deployment zone, Nix, who is borderline impossible to kill and has no pressing need to commit to the front lines until he feels safe, or the Prospectors and other backline models who are part of the Benny summon engine. You basically tell your opponent that if they want to score they need to fight their way through Hamelin and waves of summoned Rat Kings and get to the deployment zone if they want a chance.

How's Nix so resistant in your opinion? On paper, he seem good but not a real "tank". I'm probably missing something as I don't play Hamelin since M2E lol

Sorry it's the "pair him with..." that get me confused. Anyway that's was not the main point. Mini Mancha = Bad, Big Mancha = Good 😁 (I'm kind jealous of OC Zipp having access to prospectors now).

Ye, Prospectors are awesome with everyone. Smugglers seem ok too but I still have to test them (with Benny they can do a great draw engine, but that would be a Parker crew and a passive one).

  9. Just now, SEV said:

You can't taxi Macha with skeeter in OC (you need the Bayou upgrade that give +1 sz)...

Wrestler are useless in Bayou Zipp. I don't see why they would suddenly become useful when dressed in Yellow...

Never said I use Skeeters to taxi Mancha. Mainly they move Pride, Alyce etc.

  10. As a player who used OC Zipp a few times, I'm gonna say that Mancha as an anchor is awesome. Pair him with runners as Mate or Stalker, damage dealer as Alyce and Merris, control pieces as Pride, support as Prospectors and Emissary and taxi as Skeeters and the crew will always shine in most pools.

So guys, as title suggests, I'm asking you: what's the point and role of Wrastlers in OC? They should be a lighter version of Mancha, but still too fragile. Any success with them?

Just had my first game with McCabe (and declared Explorer's Society), and have some thoughts to share!

Cherri Bomb/Sidir Alchibal - seems decent enough. However, looking at 9 stones for Cherri when you could pay 9 stones for Archivist seems a bit silly. Being able to gain fast with an upgrade seems nice, but also not sure it is that game-breaking to have Sidir gain fast. The only super powerful fast turn is walk, focus, machine gun with quick reflexes trigger and do 12 blast... But that seems insanely hard to line up. Will use on the casual table, can't imagine it is optimal for competitive play in most games? Also seems bad that the model really craves focus, but the main engine for focus in the faction (Mr Ngaatoro) is a nonbo with 9 stone models.

Beebe & Calypso - Hot damn, this is a neat model. Seems terrible against incorporeal (I took him against Kirai), but other than is pretty damn sweet. Can move other models around, can self heal back up, can do loads of damage, and draws two useful cards a turn. The fact that you want to grab low tomes and if you don't use them you can fuel your Rough Riders is awesome.

Rough Riders - Great utility piece. Ride with Me is pretty neat, but being able to turn any tomes into a heal is fantastic. A 7+ tomes is a heal AND a ride with me, which is insane value. Pretty bad against Incorporeal, though xD I didn't put a mirror on one, but remembered after the game how good Mirror is on Rough Riders. The ability to hand out injured in melee seems good, but they really need to stay super far from the fight. Definitely good enough that I'll use two in casual play, and imagine at least one in a lot of competitive lists?

Desper LaRaux - I mean, I knew the model was good. Leap AND Don't Mind Me?? Stupidly awesome.  Throw in the incredible triggers (particularly on the Grappling Hook), and the ability to steal some soulstones, and it seems like any pool I'd want to take McCabe, I'd want to take Desper.

Upgrades - Tried Flush with Cash, didn't like it as much as I did with Basse. It feels like Basse can abuse a hand of three severes a lot more than McCabe can, while McCabe wants to do more incremental value shenanigans. Hidden agenda seems super good with the Mirror upgrade, so that's what I'm trying next time.

That's it for now! Just some basic thoughts!

What was your list? Were you against Kirai into which strategy?

I'm going to be without a stable internet connection this month, so had to give it a miss :(

For Parker, I'm a huge fan of this build in Public Enemies:

    Deal With The Devil (Outcasts)
    Size: 50 - Pool: 4
    Leader:
      Parker Barrows
        Wanted Criminal
    Totem(s):
      Doc Mitchell
    Hires:
      Mad Dog Brackett
      Barbaros
      Hodgepodge Emissary
      Marlena Webster
      Prospector
    References:
      Memento
      Pretty Floral Bonnet
      Vitality Potion

The Prospector is the only particularly vulnerable model in that list and it isn't worth a point for the strategy. Parker and Barbaros work as frontline tanks and are pretty close to unkillable with near bottomless reserves of Soulstones (you should be gaining 3-4 a turn with all the card draw and Parker's positive flips getting you tomes. Mad Dog gets you your points in the Strategy pretty easily.

Works well in Recover Evidence too for much the same reason but I generally like Hamelin more there.

Would you play something similar into Leylines? The list is intriguing.

Just thinking about McCabe in ES some more, and I'm getting Reva vibes.

A master that can be a heavy hitter or one of the best scheme runners in the faction, backed up by a crew with lots of tricks/mobility.

A crew with a rough rider or two, McCabe, and B&C basically can be wherever the heck they want.

And don't forget the extra mobility of Hucksters, Desper, Botanists. He's so cool, can't wait for Botanists to release.

The problem with Oni is the hiring pool is HUGE so it's hard to plan for.

If it's corner deployment, will probably taking flying so prepare for Emissary, Ama & Tengu.  We lack condition removal, so they might go for adding Obsidian Statue and/or Wanyudo to summong Obsidian Oni bombs and burn you to death. Might just go all star versatile & just use Asami as a summoning battery.

    There's just too many unknowns.

All the good Vendetta targets usually get summoned; you don't summon so probably won't take Bettari.

The only thing I can think of is if they are the kind of person I am, I hire my Katashiro; you could pick a Bandito to Vendetta.

Won the game, used Stalker and A&D as flankers. Killed a lot of stuff with Parker, Gunslinger and Mad Dog. I decided to go for Runic Binding and Hidden Martyrs (Prospector and Dead Outlaw).

  15. Hi guys,

as in the title, I picked Parker and a friend of mine picked Asami into Symbols of Authority. I'm going for a usual Parker list, but do you think there is anything I can hire good against Summoners or against Asami in particular? Taelor doesn't seem so good, because of her cost and her ability which is an 6" aura, while Asami will summon stuff from at a distance.

And what could be a good target for Vendetta?

    Thanks in advance.
