Mark Of Obliteration: This model may take Actions while buried.
It may target Buried models or draw range and LoS for its Actions from friendly Obliteration Minions.
After this model takes an Action while Buried, it suffers 1 damage.

Question: can Scion "target Buried models or draw range and LoS from friendly Obliteration Minions" always, or only while buried?

crows trigger - Leeching Strength: Choose a Buried model. The chosen model suffers 1 damage and this model Heals 1.

The friendly model is not buried until step F, but the trigger is declared at step E.

But nothing stops you from declaring the trigger. Target model isn't buried when you declare the trigger, but it is when you resolve it, so you can leech from it.

It's "After succeeding: choose a Buried model", not "When declaring: choose a Buried model".

Im not entirly sure but don’t the m3e rules say that bonus dmg is only applied to the target and not to blasts, like it was in m2e?

    You are right.
    EDIT: nope, I misunderstood.

The damage a model suffers from a :blast is unaffected by effects that increase the damage the original target suffered from the attack.

Her Adaptive Tactics action can be used on herself to trigger Purification. If she is the only Freikorps model in range and she doesn't have an Upgrade attached, the current wording can create an infinitive loop, because she would have to cast Adaptive Tactics on herself until she fails.

I guess infinite loop is what you get for trying to cast a spell inside your own counter-spell. Don't mess with magic;)

"The only Freikorps model in range" sounds very situational. And this loop ends after she flips 1-5, so I don't think it would really be a problem.

And as Davos said, maybe the real problem will be when you can place multiple blasts instead? Is the problem maybe that Hannah can get access to dubbel suits to easy? Investing 1 wound is no that much since the amount of healing seems to have gone up also.

You don't get multiple blasts for multiple :ToS-Tome:. It does not stack.

The height difference example doesn't work, because the model being measured from IS in base contact.

When you are determining, whether or not two models are in base contact, range is irrelevant. To be in base contact they have to be physically touching. In the picture below I recreated two examples from page 12 (used crate instead of Ht1 rock). On the left - bases are physically touching. On the right - they are not.

I think the most important thing is: most non-standard buffs need to be contained within a keyword. Future proofing kind of requires it, considering M3E will most likely grow.

So I don't really have an issue with super soloes as long as you can't stack a ton of buffs on them.

    Noooo... Don't take away my dark-power-serving, vitality-potioned, rocket-boot-jumping, assault-shielded, booby-trapped-with-landmines Desolation Engine! :(

For me big part of fun in Malifaux is searching for combos. I wouldn't like the game to lose too much fun "just in case, for the future". Containing buffs within a keyword is safe for sure, but let's first test if it's really needed.

Well to compensate some of the friekorps synergy need to be looked at. Von Schill crew still has the old m2e issues no cheap scheme runner why are friekorpsman still 5pts; why is drach troop still 8pts these were poor in the old rule set yet remain the same? The discard a card for concentrate on friekorp minion is such a weak master bonus; a min 2 gun? & finally what happened to the friekorps suit?

Strongarm Suit was renamed to Arik Schoettmer.

Freikorpsmen can be quite good scheme runners. If you equip them with rocket boots they can Leap for :ToS-Fast:, and thanks to Equipment Training they don't have to lose the boots (but pay 1 dmg for that). If you equip them with Assault Shields, it can soak up damage from Equipment Training.

Soo Arik gone up 1ss with his Wp 5, Laz gone down 1ss and VS's weak damage stays 2 although any report seen said his damage was a problem.

VS ignores cover now, which is nice. Just focus and aim for this sweet moderate 4, don't think about the weak ;)

    Technically, it's sometimes Sh 6...

iii. Declare Triggers (Active player first)
    i. Immediately Triggers occur
iv. Determine Success (if Acting model’s duel failed, the Action ends; do not proceed to Step e).

So if you have tomes, you place a scheme marker (and gain +1 Sh for it) before determining success.

Also, besides that weird example of being on raised vs flat terrain for base contact, base contact is never actually defined. While I definitely see how what was said above would break the Scion's scheme dropping and turf flipping, I think it should be specifically defined. Especially since it is referenced so much through out the rules.

It is defined, on Page 12 of the rulebook, as I wrote before.

Two objects are said to be in base contact with each other if their bases are physically touching (edge to edge or overlapping).

If Scion is buried, she can't be in physical contact with a marker on the table.

This has been confirmed? Or it's only a supposition? It would be great to know.

    Just check page 12.

Image your model standing on the ground in b2b with a 1" Ht crate. Can you place a Scheme Marker on the crate, at 0" range but not in b2b? No, you can't. Same with buried Scion.

Easy to do with a 1/2/3 damage track?

First, Scion is cost 6, so you can take Vendetta against something relatively cheap. Second, weak attack is good, because you don't want to accidentaly kill the target. Just bring the target down to half Health with some obliteration minions, slap it for 1/2/3 dmg with Scion from safe distance (buried), then finish it with some other models.

On the second thought, if you declare Tara, your opponent will probably bring some anti-bury tech, so Scion won't be so safe after all :P Still, she can use stones to defend herself, and you choose schemes after seeing opponent's crew.

I hired 2 wretches today and thought they were great. I mostly used them as a node for the Scion. Being able o move them 10”, then use them to do interact actions with Scionwas clutch. As the Scion does the action, it didn’t matter if they were engaged. And though it was a thing in my game, it would also ignore things like Chatty.

I don't think you can put scheme markers that way. They have to be in base to base contact with the model placing them. Scion can draw range and LoS from Wretches, but 0" range isn't the same as b2b (Page 12, example with Pandora on a rock).

But it would be so easy to do Vendetta with her 😐

As for VS: I currently saw a lot of Viks lists with Von Schill so its becoming a trend. If a secondary master becomes a stample pick in your crew list then I think something is wrong.

It's because VS has better synergy with Viks than their keyword crew 😝

On the other hand, if we cripple all non-Leader masters, why even bother to allow hiring them? Non-Leader summoners are nerfed. Tara's second activation - only as a leader.  Now we nerf Von Schill. And I already read, that beaters are too strong as second masters (Seamus, Justice), and something should be done about that.

  16. Did anyone try spamming land mines against close combat crews? Form a gunline and put two rows of 50mm hazardous terrain right in front of them. Or just block passages. Markers are destructible, sure, but many crews don't have tools to destroy them from afar or multiple at once. Von Schill and Arik can charge over mines , other models could use rocket boots, so they won't be a big problem for Freikorps (unless enemy has Lure :P). Later you can Pull! enemies into mines or push them with Charged Fists (Hannah can copy that) - try to place the enemy in base contact with multiple markers, so it will be harder to free him.

Von Schill gives two upgrades, models use them, Trunk and Hannah (Adaptive Tactics) give them again - it's 8x 50mm markers. With adequate triggers or Armory you can make more. Or hire Rusty Alyce, she can create two Pit Traps (1 dmg + Injured) as :ToS-Fast:action and then shoot three times with Rapid Fire.

Or use just a few - Alyce creates traps with :ToS-Fast:, Schill Pulls! enemy into them, Alyce shoots (and it's easier to hit Injured model).

And if you place enemy on two different Hazardous Markers (land mines + pit trap), he is affected by both 🤔

I can also see some potential in AP efficiency of killing a Voodoo Doll in one swing, doing 3 damage to it's Cursed target

You can't transfer 3 dmg in one swing. Transferred damage is always 1.
EDIT: Sorry, misread. that's what you get for reading with one eye while working :P

Isn’t it a bonus action trying to copy a Bonus Action which is Limited to once per activation?

    It's not a problem, because:

    Quote

    Page 26
    Actions Generated by Effects

Many effects in Malifaux, (such as Actions, Abilities, and Triggers) can cause a model to take an Action.

When this happens, the new Action is always resolved after the previous Action is completely resolved, including any “After Resolving” effects, but before any new Action can be taken.

Actions generated in this way follow the normal sequence for Actions and do not count against a model’s Action limit.

    So Hannah can copy :ToS-Fast:actions.

Lazarus, for example, can't, because his Assimilate forbids it: "Select a non-:ToS-Fast: Action printed on the target model's Stat Card". There is no such restriction in Hannah's Adaptive Tactics.
