I've been holding a question to myself for a number of weeks now. I've been curious about what people have been using as inspiration when they make Fated, adventures, campaigns, or Fatemaster Characters. If you have an answer, please post it as I'm curious about what kinds of different media might show up. If this thread gets some attention, I'll likely post some of my own inspirations. Thank you in advance for any cooperation in answering my questions, and I apologize if this thread becomes nothing more than spam.

I would love to see a preview of Tara, but I have a rather heavy bias.

Not that I’m aware of. However, in M2E, Charles Hoffman hands that condition out like cheap Halloween candy so it could theoretically be done with Ability Based Manifested Powers.

I basically imagined the badlands as basically being an embodiment of the “Wierd West” complete with morally ambiguous or bankrupt sheriffs and zombies dueling with magics guns at high noon.

So, I think by now a new ruling is in order just so that Shotgun Surgeon is possible

And the Sawbones gets to use that attack without:
a). Paying 1 AP to ready the weapon;
b). Arousing suspicion, as he's just carrying a simple and inconspicuous Drs bag 😉
Still - that shotgun bag could also be inconspicuous. The first time...
“You see that guy, you know, the one in that fancy doctor get up?”
”Yeah? What about em?”
”Rumor has it that he got some steamfitters to affix weird industrial stuff to his bag, heard the thing’s a functional shotgun. They call him The Doctor, not a very clever name, I know.”
”Howabout, The Shotgun Surgeon?”
”Whatever the case, do not let him point that bag at you, got it!?”

Well, if your poisons are SOMEHOW capable of attacking a robot’s nonexistent immune system, it should probably deliver the full effect.

Personally I would say no as it is not a weapon, it is a Skill Kit that grants access to certain attacks, but it is up to your Fatemaster to decide.
But who doesn’t want a finely tuned steam powered surgical scalpel with attached shotgun?

In the Penny Dreadfuls’s ive read, a lot of the things that happen, happen to the Fated. Even in the adventures that aren’t about the fated in the grand scheme, the fates do have opportunities to make serious impacts through seemingly small things (a great example being Northern Aggression)

Use Corebook 2E Tarot, it's not linked to Malifaux, it's about learning during the Fated's life.
Obviously, FM should cut some options for Fated when they start on Earth (like, no Whisper magic theory, no gremlins).
What about if a burning man breach opened in the bayou, then you could have earth gremlins, but they would suffer huge social struggles.

Look into the Breachside Broadcast, a podcast which tells the stories published in a variety of sources presumably in chronological order.
-
Basically, but with Margins of Failure, it would determine how bad the character would fail, perhaps leading to more dire consequences than first expected.

Are my penny dreadfuls and various suppliments still good with the TTB second edition?
Yep, just need to adjust to rules ever so slightly.

If you had to beat both 8T and 10M, besting the higher would mean that you would only need to beat 10M, when in actuality you effectively need to beat 10TM

How I believe it works (and have been doing so for the last year) is that whatever the players pull up on their defensive flip is the suit the monster uses.
For instance, if a player flipped a ram defending against Flash Photography, the Guild Reporter would be considered to have flipped a ram as well, and may use “Hey, look over here”
Hope this helps

Wounds increase by raising Toughness, Defense raises by increasing Evasion.
Being at 0 wounds isn’t the end, but it isn’t a good place to be because that’s when unconsciousness checks start happening.

They sound amazing! I must play one! 😮
I read this, and in my upcoming campaign, one of my players is a performer who wants to join Collette, and this seems like a fitting theory for her.
Is there any drawback for this, or is the theory just as stupidly op as I think it is?
I mean moving and casting spells at the same time seems really strong.
If you can’t move, you can’t cast. So if you’re tied up or confined to a small space, casting will become next to impossible.

You could replace Killed/0/0 with a lesser damage flip. Also, for haunted, successful “surgery” should prevent it from growing until the next time it can be done.

You could implement the rules for surgery to add more consequence, not much is worse than being at the centre of a botched exorcism

Inspirations
in TTB Discussion
Posted
In my game, I’ve been running off of three inspirations that at first don’t sound like they belong together. I’ve been using Peaky Blinders as a bit of a backdrop with what is essentially a gangster story but with elements of Bioshock and Bloodborne adding interesting flavour to the places I have set up.
