Does the Whiskey Golem belong in this gang? or is he only worth it with Brewmaster?

Talk to me like I know nothing. Aesthetically, I dig the mechanical gremlin stuff like Sparks, Mechanized Porkchops, Survivors, maybe Whiskey Golem. Would like that to be my foundation. I understand Malifaux lists require flexibility per game, but if I started with the above, what else would I need to make these models mostly work together? A master obviously... who? Any advice appreciated.
